Somebody lend this guy another CD ;)

I'd lend him the bonus disc to Ziltoid the Omniscient, but I couldn't take responsibility for the probable psychological damage that would ensue.

I find them bland, but if they cover Planet Smasher or Tall Latté, I'll consider giving them another shot.

Well I'm not handing out specific accolades, but as Radio Friendly Unit Shifters go I find them entertaining enough.  I've only got 2 CDs.

Kind of silly for me to have a compilation album of theirs since I have all the albums all of these songs originally appeared on, but I was a fanatic, plus there are at least a few alternative mixes.

After those last two albums, I needed something to bring me back to Earth.  I haven't ruled out Michael Stipe having visited the fourth dimension a few times, but mostly they sound human.

Edit: There is one song on this that hadn't appeared previously: 'Romance'.

From you, that's close to a condemnation.   ;D

*horns*  That one's a winner even if it doesn't include a cover of Tall Latté.

Threshold - Dead Reckoning

I have this one for more than a year and I think I had not given it a complete listen so far  :P  Shame on me  :-[ cause it seems to be pretty good but my neighbourhood doesn't tolerate this kind of music  :(  On a more personal note, Threshold is a bit repetitive to my taste but Mac has really a great voice  *horns*

Agree with you there, Bups. I like listening to Threshold, but it's seldom they give me a rush. I'd say they lack a Clive to lift them up to the heights of genius  :-\

And I sure hope we see/hear more of Mac, cause he sure was great in Threshold  *horns*

That was below your usual level, Joneseeey  >:(  (a compliment actually)  :)

Rush are in my pantheon - reminds me .....

Just to add my marmite to the SRV-rap:  A song or two, yeah, quite uplifting, but a whole album becomes a grind. I don't understand why he never tried to edge a bit ... but I guess lotsa booze takes the edges after a while  :(

That's not what blues is about.  If every blues player did that then there'd be no 'traditional' blues players left.

I always think it is a bit of a shame that today's technology wasn't around for some of the 'classic' bands although the early genesis boxed set is a great improvement on the originals imo.

What bitrate are you ripping into this time?

Yes, although a lot of problems are also down to humans as well.  There've been some bl**dy awful recordings lately, even with modern technology.  Metallica's Death Magnetic would be a lot better with a Martin Birch/Machine Head sound quality to it! ;)

I do most stuff at 320 these days, which is a reasonable balance between listenability and portability for my set of circumstances.  I've got some key stuff done lossless, but that tends to drain the battery on the iPod as if you've put a screwdriver across the terminals >:(

I never realised that. If you are using 320 how's the space on the NAS going? Needing to buy more disks soon?

The latest iTunes is doing my head in it seems to be copying music all over the place now.  ::)

I think I've only filled about half, but I might be wrong.  Storage is so cheap these days that I'm not unduly concerned.
