NP  Aghora:  Formless

Great stuff guys. I would describe it in short as Vedic metal prog with female vocals. Very special and original  *horns*

Aghora have arisen out of the fertile Florida breeding ground. They'v made two albums. Both are super.

I'v been listening to Formless off and on during the past year. Now it's really getting under my skin.

Looks like I'l have to add Aghora to my pantheon.

;) People (especially the KiskePumpkins) tend to forget that they had given up on the band after the steep tumble (according to the same people) that was the "Pink Chameleon" period, and that everyone rejoiced when "Master of the rings" came out. I like all their albums, though I have a bit more trouble with the really old stuff - and I adore towards worship the last SIX albums in a row!! -And that has something to do with song writing. Who's the world's three best song writers?

Björn and Benny (both of ABBA) and Andi. Further down the list we have Lennon, McCartney, Simon, Garfunkel... You get the picture. 8)

Ah - good to see that Andi is rated higher than all these boring old guys! ;)
So I guess you're familiar with Andi's former band (PC69) too? (They're one of my favourite bands!)

NP  Kamelot:  One Cold Winter's Night

My birthday present to myself. Got this double live album for 100 Skr (ca. 10 Euro) in a Malmö CD-store. Man, people around here simply dont know what's good - well, fortunate for my purse.

This album is sooo good  *horns*

Khan back in Oslo with his supergroup - can you imagine how freaked the audience is by this ?  - and me too  :)

Kamelot are great, and similar to Arena in that every new album seem to be better than the previous one (both with the possible exception of the latest).

@ bluepony: Yes, I loved PC'69 from when I first heard the song "Take those tears"...  I'm gonna search this forum now... ;)

NP  Kamelot:  This Pain  (on Black Halo)  (on repeat)

Killer song, man  *horns*

It's real quiet in the Room today. Is everyone recovering from my birthday party ?  ;D

Today I have been pollarding trees with a class (as you know I'm a stagiaire on a VMBO). It was heavy but very rewarding. I had a great day. I'm sooooooooo tired, but the children were fantastic!

Your musical taste is excellent, Deenfan!  *horns*

Yeah, except I just dont understand why nobody around here makes any effort with Ghost Opera, and barely with Systematic Chaos - some sorta roomie fallback ?

Man, you got two insanely ingenious albums on the one side, and a bunch of guys who claim they're proggies on the other, and the twain just dont meet !

...why nobody around here makes any effort with Ghost Opera...

As I found Black Halo quite exciting, I took this remark as a reason for trying Ghost Opera now. And after taking a -rather quick- listen, I say that this album lacks the former brilliance. The melodies make the impression like someone was desperately trying to write something interesting. Musicianship- and prduction-wise this is surely a good one. -> Ablage P (which is a german joke, meaning: off into the bin with it)
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

You know... there's just so much PROGRESSIVE music out there, that I don't feel the need to listen endlessly to the bands you mentioned. ;)

Nah, to tell you the truth, I'm really a discoverer, I love to get my hands on a new fresh band (or an old fresh band that noone has heard of) rather than listening to the bands that are "settled".

Now Playing:
Hidria Spacefolk - Balansia
5. Pako Originaux

Nice you tried, Cap  :)

Hm, strange .... I just find that the moods Solitaire --> Rule The World are sooo fabulous, and the pulse in Rule is mesmerising; I cant sit still when I hear it. And Human Stain and Blücher are terrific. I'l admit that the album loses a bit toward the end, but even that part is still very good.

Dunno, maybe Ghost is just too over-the-top for you guys - needs a crazy mind like mine  ;D

I'm simply floored by Ghost (and Systematic Chaos). This music is some of the greatest that I'v heard in my loooooooooooooong life. And I'm also stunned by the lyrics.

Well, the reason I'm ranting about all this is cause I like you guys and respect you (even going as far as "loving" Paco iss) :)

With other people I'v stopped trying.

What about Threshold's unplugged albums?
I think they are really good, and can be used on birthday parties with non-proggy family/friends.

NP  Kamelot:  One Cold Winter's Night

This album has harvested eight 5-star reviews, one 4-star review, and nothing less, on Amazon. I'v never before seen such glowing enthusiasm on Amazon. I'd also say that if any album deserves it, this one does. Rarely has Khan (or any singer) sounded so good. And the usually reserved Thomas Youngblood sent some shivering riffs into the ether  *horns*

NP  Kamelot:  The Black Halo  *horns*

It's become clear to me that the whole discussion of which is the better, Halo or Ghost, is rather dumb - yeah, really - because they're actually quite similar musically, although the themes are quite different, musically more similar than e.g. Contagion and Pepper, or Octavarium and Systematic.

Aint that right, Tom ?

So there it is guys  8)
