NP  Metallica:  st. anger

They're back to what they're good at:  Raging against everybody and everything.

This is a very angry and aggressive album, and really super, guys  *horns*

What I really like lots about Metallica is that despite them being multi-platinum, -million-dollars and -whatever, they'v never compromised an inch on their music.

Guys, what is music about ?  Swinging a*s and b*s ?  Glamor ?  Sweet-singin ?  Soothin ?

F* all that: Music is about bein fully alive and kickin !

Skål to that !

Nicky.

Yeah, also, Deenie  :)

But I must admit that here in my old age I'm gaining a preference for music that's challenging, demanding, and even grating. The lyrics have to be intriguing too.

And st. anger is really like that  *horns*

St. Anger is indeed a little step back to the roots of Metallica.
Nevertheless it's not a 'true' metallica album.
But then again, neither was The Black Album.

NP  Elton John:  Captain Fantastic

Sure lives up to its name. Man, what melody. Incomparable  *horns*

This and Yellow Brick Road are his two best imo.

This rocks just as fantasticly as thirty-three years ago. These albums simply dont lose anything with age  :)

But it also does bring up memories, wheeeew ... BTAEDS  ;D

Okay guys, it's time for some French quality-prog...finally! ;)

1: Check http://www.myspace.com/demiansmusic.
2: Prepare to be blown away.
3: Then listen to the 2 songs.

The album will be released on the 19th of May through Inside Out.

I think this might be an album I have to buy! Judging from these 2 songs it will be worth the money!

OK, so you have fathomed, Paco.  Great  *horns*

To be serious again, what I meant was that there are so many what I call "Halleluja-Christians", who, so to speak, already have their souls or minds up in the ethereal realms. In my mind, they're not quite taking the pain or passion of corporality seriously, e.g. they wouldnt listen to metal or fully deliver themselves in the sexual experience, because they regard it as worldly, temporal and sinful.

So, we "dark" Christians - yes, I mean you too - we want to experience corporality fully in depth - well, maybe not going as far as killing - although we are aware that our corporality is limited in time and we dont know the consequences on the other side.

Somehow I feel that, as long as I am on this side, I really wanna explore it fully, and that includes all the pains and "darkness".

Apropos:

Phew... Let me think about this for a while... I know what you mean, but I cannot say that I agree. Especially that "we want to experience corporality fully in depth". I want to reply on this, but I still don't know how to say it in English... Besides, I don't want to be too much off topic...

But here goes:

I agree about the 'Hallelujah-Christians'. Many of them I find naïve. They think everything is fine and nothing to worry about etc etc. But indeed they kind of deny the 'dark' side of life. We have to stay real. Keep your both feet on the ground. There's still much pain we cannot and should not deny. But I don't think we must indulge to much in 'earthly things' so to speak. ::) Nicky, you did say something a while back, along the lines of "as long as you're young, enjoy it to the max" or something. And I've heard such things before. And I don't mean that you can't enjoy things! But I think we should be careful. Read Matthew 20: 1-16, it's about the labourers in the vineyard.

The Householder (God) is searching for men to work in His vineyard. He finds some men, they come to an agreement about their salary (a penny a day) and they get to work. And then, after a few hours, He went out again and saw some more men standing idle in the marketplace. He asks them to work for Him in His vineyard for a penny a day and they come along. Then three hours later He does the same and then three hours later again. And about the eleventh hour He went out and found others still hanging around on the marketplace. He asks them "Why are you standing here?" "Because no man hired us" they replied. So the Lord of the vineyard took them with Him and they get to work for just a couple of hours. Then He called all his labourers because it was pay-time. He began with the guys that came in last. He gave each of them a penny. Then He gave the men who came in before the last labourers. And on the end He paid the lads that came in first: a penny. These guys got mad and said that it wasn't fair that they got the same amount of money as those people that came in last. But the Lord of the vineyard says quite rightly: "My friend, you did agree with the salary. I gave you what I promised you. Let me do with my money what I want. Are you angry at me because I'm doing good towards those men?"

These labourers are christians. Some are christians from the earliest beginnings. Some became christians in the noon of their lives. And some became christian just before their death. Gods grace is so wide! He calls so many! But let's make a notice: those labourers were standing on the marketplace! And when the Lord calls, they answered and came with Him. You cannot stand on the marketplace and stay unemployed Nicky! (;)) When God calls, we have to answer Him.

Why would I stay unemployed at 20 years old when Someone offers me a job? Because I want to 'have fun' in my youth? Because I want to experience corporality fully in depth? Do you still want to stay 'unemployed' at 25? And 40? 52? But maybe I don't even reach the 50 years old... Then it would be too late for me. As long as you live there's time for mercy. Always. There are still millions of unemployed men, who don't even search for 'work'. They don't enter the marketplace, but stay in their festivities of lust and sin. But it's never too late to enter the marketplace. And the Householder keeps checking back for more workers! And everybody can become a worker of this Landlord. Even the prostitutes, the fornicators, the extortioners and the worst of the worst can be workers in the vineyard. And when they eventually enter the marketplace and the Householder asks them to come, we can only be very happy for them. But when they are asked to come, but they don't come... Why are they waiting on the marketplace then?

Just wanted to point this out...
And again I got a lot off topic... Thanks to YOU Nicky!!! >:( ;D
I'm sorry... I don't want to 'preach' or something, but sometimes there's a moment when there is no escape. ;)

OK Paco, it took me some time to get the gist of your message.

Yeah, you see, the point I'm trying to make is that there is no contradiction between being Christian and exploring corporality. The latter is what scientists are doing, as well as explorers, prog musicians, and any artists that really work with forming and transforming matter and sensual material.

We have to accept that there are innumerable ways of being Christian - that's just the great thing about Christianity: that it opens up to a much larger spectrum of self-expression than any other religion - and basically I have no right to consider myself any better than a Halleluja-Christian, or a hermit-Christian, or a Christian who likes to listen to Mozart or Britney Spears; and in fact, I dont either have any right to consider myself better than an atheist; we're all brothers and sisters, children of God, and loved and protected by God.

So we're one big family - with Clive as our Father  ;D

Yes, I agree with that. But still I say that you have to be careful with how much you become part of 'this world'. As you know Nicky, we are in this world, but we're not part of it. You can't serve two lords etc etc.

Yep. Christian freedom. We all have our own cultures, opinions, characteristics. We are all unique. No brainless cult-followers or anything...

So I was at the Dillinger concert yesterday (that's why I didnt respond to all the insults  ;D ).

They had two support groups:  Stolen Babies and Poison The Well, both from US.

Stolen I didnt find too good. They had a lady singer who also played accordion (of all things, you know, the one where you tug and press), which Bups would have dug ... but ladies and metalcore, hm ....

Well anyways (better not chase Bluey away), Poison was somewhat better, but they played so loud that it was like a wall of sound and you couldnt hear what the guy was singing - he could have sung about love, or hate, or orchids - I couldnt get it iac.

Fotunately there was a bar downstairs - with Belgian beer guys, so there went the rest of my March budget - and I managed to get through some music mags, as I didnt know anybody there (missed ya Marcello  :) ).

I decided to get a good place for Dillinger, so I went up, while everybody was stuffing the suage, and placed myself a meter from the stage. So there were all these young fans, smiling, some drunk, some on whatever, but peaceful and friendly. It was actually interesting to watch Gil test his drums and mikes. He looks like a rabbi, which he quite well could be. The other guys actually look like academics, but say GO, and they dont act so any longer. So everything was very peaceful for some twenty minutes, then the lights went out, and they poured out tons of stage ice, which created a mystical atmosphere, and people started shouting "Dillinger" and stuff.

Then came the first riffs, and a second later, some bloke crashed into me from the left. Before I could think "What the f*", another bloke crashed into me from the right. My glasses got warped and almost fell off. The first thing a nearsighted guy like me thinks of (from bad experiences) is "Save my glasses", so I put them in my pocket, but then I had been pushed away from my rucksack and couldnt see it any longer. But as I didnt want my Walkman to be pulped, I pulled myself together, and this time I was the one who barged in, and fortunately I found my rucksack. Did I wanna stay in that uproar? I was "Get the h* outta here", so I retreated 10 m, where the fans were jumping and shaking their arms allright, but they stayed put.

So now you're warned guys, if you ever venture into a metalcore or nu concert.

I had heard lots of rumors about Dillinger live, but this concert was over the top. All'o the guys were jumping in the air, throwing around their instruments, charging across the stage, the singer was crawling up any cord he could find, the lead guitarist was 3 m up on top'o the speakers, and a moment later on the thin board on the side of the auditorium -  just to give you guys a picture.

I wont bore you with a song list, but the titles were like Black Bubblegum and Mouth Of Ghosts (so these songs werent about orchids).

Great unique experience  *horns*

Now I just have to get my glasses adjusted  ;D
