Hehe, just to make you go  ???, i'm playing this:

Dream Theater - Accepting The End

;D  *horns* *horns* *horns*  ;)

??? I mean  ??? ??? ???

I'm not surprised you never heard of this before, Bupie.  ;)
It's a bootleg. An unofficial one.  ;)
According some sites there are about a staggering 1600 (!) bootlegs of Dream Theater.

I'm just glad that Mike Portnoy encourages the bootlegs.  :D

Aw thanks. But...

Why a stroopwafel?  :o  ;D

LOL :D

Now Playing:
Solas - Waiting For An Echo
Some samples from Amazon.com.

I really like this. It's like a river comes into your head, washing all your thoughts away.
And indeed, Amazon.com, which means I'm just a small step away from buying this or an other album from Solas (Another Day).

At first I didn't understand it was the title of the bootleg. I thought it was the title of a song ... which I had never heard of. That's what got me confused  ::)

NP  A.C.T:  Silence

Great music, real prog, always metamorphising, lots of melody and fine harmonies, but never banal  *horns*

Yeah, the Swedes, they have something very special, rather quiet people outwardly, but the fire sure burns inside  :)

I'm abso-bloody-lutely an A.C.T fan. When I heard them first I couldn't believe I didn't know about them earlier.
It's incredibly catchy music.

At the moment I'm listening to:
Frank Klepacki - Universe At War: Earth Assault (Original Soundtrack)
Disc 1 (Hierarchy)
01. Damage King

Nicky, you really should check this out. I'm sure you will like this. And it's three discs of free music! What are you waiting for!

Mind if I have some lunch first ?  ;D

Just checked up some reviews and ratings at Prog Archives and realised that the tastes of reviewers there are rather different from mine. I mean, how can one give Six Degrees and Systematic anything less than 5 stars  ???  There ought to be a special 6 stars for such fantastic masterpieces  ;)

But Paxi, they have some interesting reviews of A.C.T (although they havent even made the effort to spell their name right, they'v added a "." at the end).

And why do they have to have a category named "Zeuhl". Who the hell cares about this stuff ?  Too quaint  ::)

And they describe Tool as "experimental / post metal" (my italics). Man oh man oh man  ::)

No, I was generalizing.
But that they forgot that there isn't a dot at the end of A.C.T is a fact.
They made a mistake (objective).
I think that's stupid (subjective).
But then again, it's a fact that I find it stupid...

Ahhh.... now playing:

Lunch was excellent, but no surprise, as I had been fantasising bout it for a while beforehand (and no yucky cheese  :P ).

Universe At War otoh was quite a surprise, a lot better than I had expected. Thanks for pressing, Paco.

Cool stuff, great drive, moody, eerie, nice guitar riffs  *horns*

Hey guys, get it spinnin !

Takes a while to download it, but worth it !

That's what I'm always saying about the guy. I love Frank Klepacki's music since I heard his soundtrack for Kyrandia 1 (1992), which was a WHOLE lot different than Universe At War (no metal), but very melodic.
He has developed a very unique style. I mailed him a while ago, he should co-operate with some other artists so they can complement each other. But he's very busy writing soundtracks for games and tv-series as well as doing his solo albums.

I have his first three solo CDs.
I still need to buy Awakening Of Aggression.

But I do have Morphscape, Rocktronic and Virtual Control.
They're good, but from those three I should say that Rocktronic is the best. Unfortunately each cd has only 40 minutes of music on it, which is a shame.
I will give them a spin today and tell you more about it after that.

His work for Westwood studios (Command & Conquer) is brilliant, and I'm searching everywhere for the soundtrack CDs...

Yeah indeed. I played that game (LoL 1) half a year ago.
But then I got stuck in the part with the speaking walls or something... But it was very enjoyable. The music was not bad, but not too good either.
Kyrandia and Command & Conquer for me! But he also did music for Emperor: Battle For Dune, which was also great!

To be honest, i didn't really liked the music on Lands Of Lore II. prt I was far better in my view but having said that i must confess that i never really pay attention to the music of the game.  :-\

NP> A surprise to some, may be but:

Mostly Autumn - Heart Full Of Sky

Track: [01] Fading Colours

I finally received this one. I've been waiting for it for four weeks now.

I never was impressed by them. Heard a few songs but i didn't really liked it.
Until i heard two songs of this album on the Dave O prog show. Since then i've been carefully beginning to like them.

NP  Porcupine Tree:  In Absentia

My fave PT album  *horns*

Somehow I find that Steve & Co. got their act best together here. The music is tight, melodic, lyrics are intriguing (well, actually they always are with PT), and there's lots of drive and changes, not much treading water.

There are some absolute pearls on this album, like Gravity Eyelids and Trains.

And I like Steve's relaxed and grungy manner.

I have to add PT to my LP-faves now (should'v actually long ago) :)

Read what my Amazon friend Joel Israel writes about IA:

"The Pinnacle Of Modern Prog-Rock

This album was my first exposure to Steven Wilson's Porcupine Tree projects; and I have since become a tremendous fan, although I personally think he has yet to top this incredible album. I recently had a discussion with an older music industry vet who suggested that Tool and Porcupine Tree are "the new generation's Pink Floyd", and I think that is a very accurate definition.

For those who are new to Porcupine Tree, it is essentially a one-man project of multi-instrumentalist and musical genius Steven Wilson, and is best described as a modern alternative heavy rock style with significant '70s-era progressive rock influences (Roger Waters-esque social commentary, keyboards and mellotron, lengthy, complicated and melodic song structure, etc.) and at times a psychedelic vibe. This album is simply too good to be true, and a testament to this man's skill and talent.

A concept album full of dark subject matter (narrating a story of childhood abuse and its effect on the life of the main character), this album is deep, but can also be simply listened to and enjoyed without paying atttention to the story, the music is so melodic, well-written and engaging to the listener. There are moments on this disc that are almost heavier than anything Tool has done, yet alternated with beautiful, sublime interludes and passages with multiple vocal harmonies. The resulting effect is unsettling and compelling, and superb in its skill and execution. One of the most stunning modern rock albums ever created, and with a nearly perfect production, since Wilson also happens to be a highly sought-after genius behind the mixing board. This album is right up there with Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and Radiohead's "OK Computer" as a desert-island album."

I think this is merited. OK, Steve and guys, all kudos  *horns*

Nice one Nicky! *horns*

NP:
Frank Klepacki - Morphscape
1. Morphscape

This is the first song from his first solo album.
It's electronic (think "Magnetic Fields" (Jean-Michel Jarre)), but with a dark edge. Very catchy in my opinion, but I can imagine not anyone will like this, since it's got more to do with electronic, than prog.
But that's just the first song of the album.

EDIT:
Now Playing: 2. Blaster
It's a really cool song, very cool sounds and it's got a nice groove to it. I will do a small review of this album (and his others) as soon as I'm done with schoolwork duties. I will post it in the Frank Klepacki topic.

NP  Deadsoul Tribe:  A Murder Of Crows

A classic now, and a true masterpiece  *horns*

Already the album title is a challenge to the mind, in that "murder" as noun has three meanings (from Dictionary.com):

1. Law. the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law....
2. Slang. something extremely difficult or perilous: That final exam was murder!
3. a group or flock of crows.

Devon has presented so many spellings of the band name that it makes you dizzy  :D

DST is close to Tool, and as ingenious in both music and lyrics. Devon is one of the greatest poets in rock.

Devon Graves a.k.a. Buddy Lackey was the singer in Psychotic Waltz. They made four great albums back in 1990-96.

DST is substantially better though imo, heavier and more varied. And Adel Moustafa on drums is over the top !

Got Murder on repeat (dont tell the heat though  ;D ).
