Thanks Erik, that did give some impressions. Now, what I'd like is for a roomie to relate this album to the music that we know and give us an indication of whether it belongs in a prog collection.

Er... still haven't heard it, but I think whatever he ever recorded definitely doesn't belong to a prog collection - unless it is a collection of the 'weird & strange' maybe...

I totally agree, Paco, to explain myself a bit further: I don't own any Marilyn Manson albums nor do I consider getting any, just have a few tracks by him on the Matrix soundtrack albums (excellent btw). I do have Rammstein's Mutter however.

I see your point, but still Manson is far more sick than Ramstein.
Manson is a Goth, he's in love with death. He's crazy about everything gore.
That's so much different than the Society-critic Ramstein. Ramstein are on the edge of insanity sometimes, but they're purpose is to bring problems in society to the surface.
Benzin, for example is a crazy song (very cool tho) about pyromania.
But of course, some of their songs are pretty scary... Mein Teil (about a guy who wants to be eaten up by a cannibal, because this causes him erotic pleasure. Based on a true story.)

Paco, I'd just like to point out again that it's the music itself I like about both bands - neither their image, nor the lyrics. They're both pretty crazy, each in their own way, and I don't think I'd like to meet any of them in a dark street... 

This brings the question: how far can we go?

It most definitely is. The album is indeed a bit more radio friendly but in the end it shows how good FII could have been.
