Wow, it's an honour, didn't do that on purpose ;).

Thinking what to play next, what about my favourite Arena album 'Contagion'? YES!

It's always great to listen to this cd, there's no filler tracks on this album.
Pure brilliance!

Dream Theater - Images And Words
01. Pull Me Under

I like this, but it's not near as good as what Dream Theater would become later.

Dream Theater - Train Of Thought
02. This Dying Soul

I really need to get in a certain mood to like this album, it's a very difficult album. But I am in that mood right now!!! *horns*
RHAAAAAAAA!!!!
LOL

But this is obviously more pointed towards the metal heads or/and the youth that wants to provoke. Which is why I didn't really like it at first.
Very adrenaline driven prog METAL, and good too.

NP  Pallas: The Dreams Of Men

I just don't understand why you guys aren't as enthusiastic about this album as I am. It has everything that a proggie loves.

Every single song on it is a treasure trove.

These guys deserve to be BIG.

Yeah I know. It's a good album, and I've seen them live once, they are great!
But at the moment there's so much greatness being released that it's hard to get by. But Pallas is on my wishinglist.

Talking about depth, these guys have it too. Everything they do is permeated with their Genius.

This album is on the heavy side, which makes it more difficult than other DT stuff, but it's just as overwhelmingly great.

James is also very experimental with his expression here. Great, Jamie, you've won our hearts now.

Bupsie, I just checked your LP. You're a succor for Toto and Rush, but you seem to have missed Saga. Off to the CD-store with you again!

Nicky.

Well, my liking for Rush is very moderate : they are far from being one of my favorite bands, to be honest.

I had one Saga album loooooooooooooooong ago ... and guess what, it was Wordl Apart  ;) but it didn't make a big impression on me. I just vaguely remember the song On the Loose. I will give the band another try, promised.

Great! Thanks for reminding me how good they are, Tom.

I guess one could call this genre "heavy Gregorian".

LOL @ Nicky! :D

I played Frost - Milliontown this morning.
Still blown by the skills of the participants, especially John M and Jem G.
Black Light Machine has to be one of my favourite songs.
And Milliontown (the song) one of my favourite epics!

I also played Spock's Beard - Snow
Yeah, very rocking. Good.

At the moment I'm not playing anything, I'm trying to concentrate on my schoolwork...

Rebecca St. James - If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something
03. You Are Loved

Very nice Pop/Rock.
Sometimes one has to take distance from something you like so much (prog in this case) to keep it fresh. And this is an excellent choice.
Very positive optimistic melodic Pop/Rock.

NP  Dream Theater:  Lifting Shadows Off A Dream

What a treat! Amazing song!

Just realising how great their earlier albums are.

What's When Dream And Day Unite like? Is it worth getting? I'm a bit reserved, because for me, Jamie is the singer of DT. But let me hear your opins, guys.

Nicky, When Dream And Day is very different from the later DT-albums, mainly because of the singer back in those days, Charlie Dominici. I honestly find his performance a bit lacking, it's as if he sings way above his range most of the time. However, the music is great (duh, it's DT we're talking about) and if you're really interested in DT and where they come from musically, you should pick up a copy.

If you're interested in the album with James Labrie on the vocals, you should once again check out www.ytsejamrecords.com. There you can order a DVD entitled 'When Dream And Day Reunite'. This is a live DVD from the 15th anniversary of When Dream And Day Unite. They played a 'regular' show (a 3-hour set with a 15 minute intermission in between) and after the intermission they played the whole album start to finish with some added and altered bits. The DVD doesn't contain the whole show, but only the When Dream And Day Unite part. I have it and I highly recommend it to every DT-fan.

You can see a song (Only A Matter Of Time) from that DVD here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJbd3QQlpcQ

Hope that helps!
