(...) Lennon's Imagine is recognisable, but has a very different mood here.
You should hear Domain's version of Day Tripper then...  ;D

Nicky007

Never heard of Domain before, Bluey. What are they like? Worth havin?

Domain are a German hardrock/metal (?) band - I don't know them very well either, but I do know (personally) their drummer Edgar, he's a funny guy.  :)

I got one of their albums to review for Scream! mag a few years ago and may still have it somewhere at home... (not sure, though!) Their best song (IMO) on this album was a cover of "Day Tripper", which still appears on various mix CDs I have got in my car. It's always fun to watch people listening and after a while recognizing the song!  ;D

The rest of the songs... well, typical German hardrock/metal, I guess. Not bad, but nothing special I'd say, but if you're into that style, it's sure worth having because they're all very good at their instruments and the singer has a great voice!

NP  David Gilmour:  On An Island

Dave's music grips me in a way that no other music can.

I just can't understand that any true proggie can be in doubt that this is prog. To me Dave Gilmour is the embodiment of prog.

Makes me realise how much rain has fallen. There was a time when Floyd were synonymous with prog.

On An Island is indeed a very good album.

And I think it has indeed its proggy moments

NP  SyX:  Revelation (Divus Pennae Ex Tragoedia)  (from Paradise Lost)

Good it wasn't Maddox writing this  ;D

I've been hot on The Sacrifice for a while now, but just realised that Revelation is ingenious too (after about twenty listens, Cap)   (thinking of you, Goran).

Yup, a lot of rain has fallen [/sentimental mode off]

You're absolutely right. I bought this album a couple of weeks ago, and I still listen to it almost every day. With my favourite track at the moment being 'Used To Be'.

So therefore, I'm now playing.............Redemption - Used To Be!

BTW, I think I'll have to thank you for your recommendation to get this album Nicky!

Nice, Tom. I'm also trying to get a woman for you, but she's turning out to be something of a wildcat  ;D

It's prob unusual: Redemption's self-titled album and The Fullness Of Time were so overwhelming for me, and then on top of it their mindblowing concert at Headway, that I simply had to hold a pause with them. I was constantly designing reasons for avoiding The Origins.

Now I've had it on repeat for a while and realised that it's a masterpiece just like the previous two. What a batting rate!

I'm real happy that I can share this special treat with a good pal like you, Tom (and I hope you can take the dumbass jokes; we have to keep Bluey occupied someway)  :)

Take Lientje along, John.

Do your friends also listen to prog, John?

Before that, give us a few more votes. E.g. can we move Stranglers and Motorhead to "not prog"? And what's your take on the Floyd guys' soloefforts?

NP  Landmarq:  Entertaining Angels

I'm impressed! It's not often that I go for women-fronted rock groups (I shudder at the thought of a Bluey-fronted group), because the fact that they're women tends to be overexposed rather than their voice blending into the music (like with DT, as a good example), but Tracy is really a great singer with a tremendous expression (she impressed me in Ayreon too), and the other guys can vie with her charisma and do some amazing stuff too.

I'm a big Dredg fan, Tom. I have their entire catalog (the same albums as you have). And what's extra nice is that lady likes them a lot too (she doesn't like Redemption and Opeth). So we've had many romantic moments listening to Dredg.

But it's some time ago now. Thanks for bringing them up again. I'll spin'm again, once the heat of Origins has dropped a bit (prob after 100 listens), and some homework for Bluey (women and their demands! enjoy your single life for as long as it lasts, Tom).

BTW just noticed you had A Natural Disaster. I'd like to hear your opin: Is this prog?
