It's good to see that you came back to the right side of the line.

But then I have to say, PH, that TA don't grip me the way that DT and SyX do - thus I is a heavy proggie.

(Maybe Marillion should stop taking sedatives (ooo, Nicky, bad'un, but I'm right, aint I, Cap)).

The return of Wicked Nicky  ;D

I have to admit that every time I hear After You're Gone from the LP Marbles, I think of the Simple Minds, but a version of Simple Minds where Jim Kerr and his mates would have been shot by sedative bullets for elephants ...

DT - Stream of Consciousness  *horns*  Heavy enough for you, Nicky ?

PH and Maddox, have you heard about these guys? Pretty good stuff  :D

I got this album, because I agree with the title, but the music doesn't really agree with me  ;D
See, this is alternative and indie, and it bores me, because there's so little going on.
Of course one has to consider that the album is from 1984.

Morrissey would surely tell you that *every* aspect of the music on this album (any of hos albums, actually) is intended to be exactly like that :D

Cap, you mean that Morissey would admit that his music is monotonous, and that's the way he wants it to be?

What then turns people on? His voice, his looks, his stories?

Sun Caged:  A Fair Trade (track 2 on Artemisia)

Fabulous song, got it on repeat mode.

Paul Adrian has a good voice, precise and wide-ranging, but it lacks some power; that will hopefully come.

I actually talked a bit with Marcel at Headway this Easter. Real nice guy, reserved and discrete, doesn't at all smear his talent in your face. You can also hear on the album that although he's the genius behind, he's very reserved and precise with his guitar playing. Instead he lets it go at the concerts. This is a good attitude in my mind.

In a way, yes. Not with the negative notion in the word "monotonous", but there may be more adequate descriptions.

Yep. The whole package of the "monotony", and the attributes you mentioned make up the style that is so unique to The Smiths and Morrissey.

The only artist I know who is similar to that, but without the guitars, was Blaine L. Reininger. You might want to listen to him, very intereting music back then :D

A song from DT's first album called 'When Day And Dream Unite' though i'm playing the Official Bootleg (WDAD-RE-Unite) one. With James Labrie instead of Charlie Dominici.  ;)

PH

 :-[ Ah ok...

I didn't listen to that album...
In fact, the only albums that I listen to on regular basis is:
- Awake
- Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory
- Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence
- Octavarium

Than there are the albums that I have, but that I don't listen that much (but when I listen, I enjoy it!):
- Images And Words
- Train Of Thought

And I can't put Systematic Chaos in any of those orders because I just got it since a month (or something).

This means that I didn't give When Dream And Day Unite and Falling Into Infinity a spin at all. In fact, I don't have those albums.

NP:
Arena - Immortal?
04. Ghost In The Firewall

The weakest song of this excellent album. The song is still better than anything by [random -->] James Blunt (or anything by The Flowerkings for that matter... :P (listened to Paradox Hotel today... :-\))

PH, do me a favour, just add FII on your shopping list. Great album, sometimes uneven -I bet you won't like Burning my Soul or Just Let me Breathe- but with real GEMS : Lines in the Sand, Trial of Tears ...

So DT : Take away my Pain and his marillionesque solo

Proglady

Phideaux - The Great Leap I'm addicted to Phideaux music!  8)

After this i think i'll skip a few and head for Peruvian Skies.  *horns*

Al Stewart - Love Chronicles - 06 - Love Chronicles

John, could you give us a characterisation? That always makes the NP's more interesting. I've heard a lot about Al Stewart, but never really got to know his music properly.

My fave on FII is Take Away My Pain. It was written by Petrucci shortly after his Dad died. A very beautiful and touching song. I think anyone who can listen to rock would be touched by it.

But yeah, Maddox, Peruvian Skies is wonderful too.

FII is DT's "quiet" album, and it often gets bypassed, but it sure is a sparkling gem in the collection.

NP  Sylvan:  Posthumous Silence.

A very special album, many different moods, takes time to get into.

Just listening to Bitter Symphony, lots of Floyd in it, so mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
