Thanks for the link. I guess it's still a counterjoke since it's filmed in Korea ... but not from Maddox  :D

Trust me: It's not a joke.  ;)

I never was a Bootleg collector but recently i got the opportunity to buy several bootlegs from DT for a very reasonable (read: bargain) price. Some of them are quite bad but The Land Of The Myungs is actually quite good.  :D

??? Hu ... I was refering to the title Land of the Myungs and thought it was a play on words because of the Asian audience (= they look like JM). But maybe I am totally wrong ...

You're actually on point there, Bupie (I'm realising that the French also can think).  ;D

Since a lot of Roomies are Wiki-illiterate (I'm generous with the compliments today), I've dragged out an interesting passage:

Born in Chicago to Korean parents, Myung grew up in Kings Park, Long Island, New York. He played the violin from the age of five until he was asked to play electric bass in a local band when he was fifteen. He stuck with bass from then on, and after graduating from high school he enrolled at the Berklee College of Music, where he and high school friend John Petrucci (guitar) met future band mate Mike Portnoy (drums). The three of them formed the band Majesty with another friend from high school, keyboardist Kevin Moore, and vocalist Chris Collins. They would later be known as Dream Theater.

Wiki: John Myung.

Michael Harris: Orchestrate.

Crazy stuff, but with a lot of fine melody and harmony. That's Michael Harris for you, guys.

Shadowland - Ring Of Roses
6. Kruhulick Syndrome

Brilliant piano playing!

I was actually wondering if Clive and Karl (Groom of Threshold) were planning on doing a fourth album 'cuz I like Shadowland a lot.
It sounds like something between Landmarq, Arena, Threshold and some other bands I forget...
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

Thanks for the info Nicky,

So maybe now we should call you Wiki Nicky ? Sounds great, no  ;D ?  Or Wicked Nicky, at least for today, since you are generous with, hum, compliments  ...

And I reassure you, I know and use Wikipedia quite often ... There is even a french version of it ! But I'm not sure I can think, though  ;)

Shadow Gallery - Comfort Me

I have just purchased Room V and listened to it one time yesterday evening but it was enough to get me VERY excited ! Let's hope further listens will confirm my first great impression.

Right now I'm whacking my brains with:

Echoes Of Eternity: The Forgotten Goddess

but it actually gets better with every repeat, in fact it even starts getting thrilling.

EOE is a band formed in L.A. Very original, full of contrasts, that's what makes it so thrilling: very heavy, aggressive metal riffs, double bass drumming, and then (surprise) a female singer, name's Francine Boucher, she sings in both English and French, lots of multi-track vocal harmonies, very spiritual lyrics, example: If we are eternal souls, Why should we fear death, Beings of eternity, Expressed in the flesh. Quite nice, huh?

This is probably the best rock I've heard with French lyrics. (The French can sing too, Bupie.)  ;D

Check'm up at:

Highly recom for fans of Threshold, Dream Theater, and Symphony X.

I love this!
The new album "Primitive" is slightly disappointing though.

Wonderful album. A good alternative in a Gabriell-less Genesis era.  ;)

The Gathering: if_then_else.

Real boring stuff. Also the lyrics are superficial. I wonder who likes that stuff. Gave it three runs. Now I've decided to give my copy away, or leave it in the bus or metro. Still can't remember, why I got it in the first place. Well, noone's perfect, not even I.  ;D

I personally do like that one but maybe you should give their first three albums with Anneke a try. Especially Mandylion is awesome.  *horns*

Nope, Maddox, I'm finished with The Gathering. They aint gathering me no more. Nothing happens in their songs, it's just the same grinding and whining all the time. No passion, no aggression, not even melody. Why should I bother with mediocrity when there's so much genius around, e.g. Arena, Dream Theater, SyX, Chris Cornell, and Ayreon and Sun Caged in your country.

You're just defending them because they're Dutch and you think that Anneke's cute.  ;D

Not so bad reasons, especially the last one. OK, Nicky, I already know what you are gonna tell me about French people this time ...  :)

Quotebut I don't see the similarity with DT  :-\  ;)

I couldn't explain it clearly but every time I listen to Blind Faith, I think of Tambu. And every time I listen to Gift of Faith or Slipped Away, I think of CD1 of SDOIT ... That's why I presume most people who like one should like the other too. On KOD, Mindfields and FIB, I also perceive hints of heavy prog ala DT.
