Ben Dragon - Victims of Life

Great lyric - "Among the woods and the trees - and all the other mossable things - made life seem beautiful".

I used to sing this religiously when I played the 12" Mini-LP vinyl (without the lyrics), back in the day.

Only when I got the CD with the lyrics, did I realise my error!

I blame heavy DS201 Gating! LOL.

Ah, yeah... that is as good an ending to a concept album as you can ever get. C'est magnifique.

NP  The Visitor

Talkin bout poetry and philosophy:

Did it really make a difference ?
Am I really what I seem to be ?
Did I ever truly breathe again ?
Or is this some kind of dream ?

Paul Wrightson is a great singer too, but there's something wonderfully sinister in Rob's voice that really grips me - and a singer has to have that sinister mode too  *horns*

Just got to John's concluding solo. Man, that guy can play - God allmighty.

I remember that after having enjoyed The Visitor the first time, that solo really did it for me, and got me into the Arena folds ... and into this crazy place - the rest is history, as it's said  ;D

Agree. Some tunes are a blatant rip off of some PF songs but it's nevertheless quite good.  8)

Yup - it's Floyd...but with a twist.

I occasionally enjoy listening to blatant rip-offs, especially if they're driven beyond the original, and yet in the same / complementary style - sort of how Floyd might have progressed perhaps?

Steve Jones

I picked up 'The RPWL Experience' recently and am thoroughly impressed with it.  Curiously, despite knowing how the band has evolved and thus buying the CD because I quite fancied a bit of FLoyd-on-the-side, the first time I played it I didn't think 'this is like Pink Floyd' but 'this is like Porcupine Tree'.

Now, having played the album a good many more times, I can certainly see the Floyd side of things, but I still think of Porcupine Tree more often - no bad thing as PT are one of my favourite bands  :)

BTW, I love the lyrics to 'This is not a Prog Song' ;)

Indeed, after all this division here on a certain topic it's great to see we can still be nice to each other and no harm has been done. :)

Therefore I'm now playing Shadow Gallery - Vow

Does anyone here really like Journey ?

Bupie characterised their Greatest Hits as cheesy.

I'd be interested in getting an overall characterisation of them with some album recoms.

Where  ??? I missed that. Was I involved ?  ;D

NP Enchant - Under Fire

Crazy Diamond

Whitesnake - Good To Be Bad

Not Prog, so I guess not to everyones taste on here, but I have always though David Coverdale to be one of the best vocalists in rock.

Not one for the intellectuals, but this is just a damn good hard-rock album.

9/10

NP  Queensrÿche:  Chasing Blue Sky  (bonus on Frontier)

There's quite a Bowie-mood on this song, and Geoff even sings like him here (and there). Must be intentional, some kinda tribute. Great song  *horns*

You mean as in "enough to buy one of their albums"? Nope... but an occasional Journey song on the radio doesn't hurt.
