NP  Talk Talk:  The Colour Of Spring

Nice lounge music for Ms & Mr 007  :)

??? I am surprised, Nicky, cause it' really soft (not to say soporific).

NP: Dream Theater - The Glass Prison  *horns*. After 6 years of listening to it, this song still amazes me every time I hear it.

The whole album is amazing. Both CD's. Really. The songs are nice, the lyrics are nice, the cover is nice, everything is nice. If someone has a T-shirt from this album or tour, I buy it. Now. Since it was birthday this sunday, my girlfriend gave me an exceptional authorization to listen to one prog album and I picked this one. And not only because it's a double  ;D

Deenfan, you don't like this one neither ?

NP Pat Benatar - So Sincere

Since it was a non prog week-end, I managed to play a few classics, including this one. Great guitar solo here  8)

I'm your man of surprises, Bups, hopefully at least som'of'em pleasant  ;D

Curiosity killed the cat (as one says), but not me (yet)  :o

I'v sought up some music that lady (& Cap) can listen to too, and we both (all) enjoy Talk Talk  :)

The first song on Colour, Happiness Is Easy, is a real great song, but the remaining songs are somewhat soporific for my taste - somewhat different from e.g. Dillinger. Well, "the things we do for love"  ;)

NP Pat Benatar - So Sincere

Great guitar solo here  8)

Bups, you really have a sense for effective buzzwords  ;)

NP  Threshold:  Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams  (on Dead Reasoning)

Great song  *horns*

Threshold are a great group, but honestly guys, they dont quite have the magic of e.g. Arena and DT, or ?

Nicky.

Let's say Dead Reckoning, Nicky. I know you like to be corrected  ;D

Yes, Threshold have some great songs but also some really ordinary ones  :(  Anyway, they have a lot of huge fans here, which is no surprise since Karl Gloom is a close friend to Clive and has worked on several Arena albums.

NP Simple Minds - Oh Jungleland

Another authorized band from the last week-end  :)

Thanks, Bups. Hm, this aint the first time that I made this mistake ... embarrassing  :'(

Hey Bups, dont tell Paco bout this; he'l only poke fun at me  :-X

... Karl Gloom ...

Touché, mon ami: His surname is Groom - unless you meant what you wrote; then its trés poignant  ;D

Yeah, "The groom was gloomy, he should have got himself a different bird, I mean bride."

Or else you're the Japanese type who mixes up 'l' and 'r', like in "The emperor had a big election."  ;D

Man, can I write a lot of nonsense. Maybe Bluey is right (for once)  :D

Anyways:

Finished with Dead Reckoning - wasnt groundbreaking - and back to

NP  Kamelot:  Cold Winter

Bouleversant  *horns*

Dead Reckoning is brilliant, people!!

It's like Arena, but heavier and (alright alright) a bit poppier.
Progressive Pop metal?

Yeah, I like that! Let's make that Progressive Synthpop Metal.

NP  Kamelot:  Siége Perilous

Just bought it today. Surprisingly good. The first with Khan and the last with David Pavlicko. Slower than Black Halo and Ghost, and Thomas solos more. Very profound lyrics too.

Anybody know this one ?

I'l write a bit more about it when I'v spun it some times.

I'm beginning to think that Khan might be the best prog singer of all. Anyone else thinking in this direction ?

NP: Muse - Butterflies & Hurricanes

Such an amazing band, even more so when considering they are only a 3-piece... :o Any other Muse-fans here in the room?

Yup absolutely!

Funny you mention them, because yesterday I played the instrumental Absolution album (which you can download legally here (at the bottom)) and tried to play Time Is Running Out on my keyboard.
Very good band. The singer/lyricist/keyboardist/guitarist/frontman/brain of the band is very talented.

Yes, here's another Muse fan. Their latest album 'Black Holes and Revelations' is great. Second favourite of mine is 'Origin of Symmetry'.

Good to see I'm not the only Muse-fan around here! :) I just bought their new live-DVD, oddly entiteld "H.A.A.R.P", today and I think I'm gonna watch it right now!

And Paco, I think I remember that you gave a link to the instrumental Absolution album a couple of months ago but I totally forgot about it once again so thanks for mentioning it again!

If this is the same guy as on Tobias Sammet's Avantasia, then - yes.

Oh, BTW - soon playing: Caamora - "She".
I got my box set today!!  ;D

Yeah, Roy Khan sings on The Scarecrow. + Sascha Paeth plays guitar; he also plays guitar with Kamelot on tour and produces their albums. So Kamelot are quite well represented on The Scarecrow.

Hey Bluey, you and your devious ways, how about just buying The Black Halo or Ghost Opera and experiencing how good they are, instead of speculating: If guy A plays in group B with guy C from group D and the album E is produced by guy F who also produced album G by group H, then maybe if B would have made G with C instead of A, I might have liked liked E better than G, but since I have E, I might like G too.

You know, it's actually easier to just buy the f*in album  ;D

NP  DT: Live At Budokan

Simply fabulous, no more words needed  *horns*

I just got to the section where they do some insane Jap stuff, wow, what goes on in those DT-heads  ::)

Real nice, Paco. Lots of special moods. Thanks !

I hope that the Dune-gamers appreciate this fine music. I would think so, as there is a very high correlation between gamers and young proggies.

It's funny, Paco (or at least I think so), I read your name as (is this my devious mind?): Pa! Co(pen)hagen aars(e)  ;D

The Dune gamers really like the music indeed.
To fans of RTS games and Westwood Studios/C&C, Frank Klepacki is really a hero.

NP  King Crimson:  the contruKction of light  (sic)

I'm really happy that Erik introduced me to this group, or more precisely, made it clear to me that they had made some exciting albums thru the years.

Guys, this is highly intelligent and exciting (and weird and a lot else) music  *horns*

But what happened to Erik ?  I hope it's not that Erik shuns the Room  :D

NP Symphony X - Communion and the Oracle

IMHO, this is one of the two fantastic songs on V, along with Evolution. And it reminds me so strongly of 70's Kansas ! Maddox, I know you love V and I think I remember that you told me that you don't like Kansas. So you shouldn't like Communion and the Oracle neither ... I know it's not that simple but try to make and old progfan (let's say my age   :() who doesn't know SX listen to CATO and ask him what band it reminds him of ...
