NP  Blackfield I  (on repeat)

This is a real joy !   It's very melodic, beautiful, and clear, you experience occidental meets oriental, and there's something very genuine and uncommercial about everything that Steve does - you can really feel that his music comes directly from the heart (and no dumbass idol photos of the guys, although they are very handsome, Bluey  ;) ) - the same feeling as I have when listening to Rush. - Hey man, am I getting old and oversentimental, or what ?  ;D

@Appy: I'l make appelmoes out of you and feed it to the chickens  :D

Remember to groove to Atom Heart Mother, Paco. That's the first real great Floyd album in my view, although there are some great moments on Ummagumma too. From AHM to The Final Cut it's GENIUS all through, although a lot of the stuff on Animals and TFC is for Floyd Initiates  8)

The post-Waters albums I can't really evaluate, as I havent heard them that much. My impression is that the music is wonderful, but they lack the great Bite of Roger. This crazy guy was raving and ranting at the whole world, and we are blessed with his artistic rendition.

Talkin about crazy guys:

NP  Dillinger:  Miss Machine

Warming up to the concert on March 5 in Cop. Heard that they're even crazier live than in the studio, so that seems like the right place for a straight guy like me to be  ;D *horns*

Check Meddle too while you're at it.
Echoes is one of the best epics and definitely the best Floyd song i've ever heard.  *horns*

I read an interview of Mike Portnoy where he said that he wanted to cover Echoes with Transatlantic but finally picked up SOYCD.

NP  Dillinger:  Calculating Infinity

Even weirder than Miss Machine (I knew that from the reviews), but surprise, guys: This stuff is really beginning to sound like music in my ears - really ....

Yeah, Really !

REALLY !!!

Or else I'v become mad - but dont tell Ms 007 or Cap

Hey Mad, are you Nicky - or what's going on ?

NP  Contagion

This masterpiece is in league with Dark Side, Awake etc., and this puts Arena in class with Floyd and DT. (If anyone disagrees, Cap will organise some healthy keelhauling.)  ;D

Guys, let's face it: Arena are best when they work with a Concept (versus conceptually).

Pepper is great too, but Contagion has just that magical extra !!!

So now, if they follow their pattern, it's time for a new Concept - and Clive & Co., we have VERY HIGH expectations !  ;)

And I was reminded of what brought me into this crazy place in the first place ...

That's an old interview. I read about that during the release of Bridge Across Forever. But you're right. He wanted to cover Echoes but the rest of the transatlanticians wanted to cover Shine On.
Secretly i must confess that i really wanted to hear their version of Echoes. My guess is that it would be a heck of a cover.

NP> nothing yet.

NP  Deftones:  White Pony

Deftones are a very original band, and White Pony is their classic album. Great stuff, guys, sorta melodic nu punk metal (if that sounds self-contradictory, that's just what they are) with sharp suggestive lyrics. Certainly something for the heavies here, hey Tom, Mad, and John  :)

NP After Forever - Monolith of Doubt

Now Bupie (with the risk of triggering Napoleonic abominations), don't you think that AF are more exciting than Nightwish ?  - I'd better add  :) :) :)

Since the Room is now swarming with Frenchies, I thought I'd listen to some French prog:

NP  Spheric Universe Experience:  So Cold  (from Mental Torments)  (on repeat)

Surprisingly good !  These guys have the future speaking for them too. OK, the accent in the vocals is ... well, very French, which is not all that surprising - in fact, apart from the phrase "So cold", which turns up occasionally (and again, not surprisingly), he could just as well be singing in French, as far as I'm concerned - but guys, the musicianship is certainly topnotch. The style is ala Circus Maximus and Seventh Wonder, spiced with some DT riffing, so that should go well here *horns*

So I guess I'll have to go to their homepage to find out what this excellent song is about, and read a bit about the group: http://www.sphericuniversexp.com/
