By the way, did somebody listen to the new A.C.T. ?

PH?

I will almost certainly buy it but it is not a priority at the moment.

PP Yes - Talk

I am beginning to understand why it is so much praised here.

Cool Yes (West) is so different. There is so much music which comes under the Yes banner something for everyone.  :)

I am of course unashamedly biased.

NP Glass Hammer - Shadowlands

My only Glass Hammer album. I don't play it often but I think that I am in the right mood for it these days.

I have four albums: "The Inconsolable Secret", "Culture Of Ascent", "If", "Cor Cordium" and "Perilous", but I don't play them that often either.
I remember parts of "Perilous" were very interesting! I think I will also buy their new album "Ode To Echo".

NP Big Big Train - The Underfall Yard

This one has not clicked yet. Patience is required.

I was actually instantly surprised. I was moved by the track Victorian Brickwork. That brass section was truly wonderful. So I can only recommend you to persevere. But of course, it's up to you! ;)

PH?

I don't have it yet. I've asked in a record store and it seems I can only order it through import (which was quite pricey...). So I'm waiting for it to appear on Grooves Inc., but I'll have to get it eventually!

EDIT:
It seems it already is available on Grooves Inc., for a fantastic price of 19,99!

Wow...

Why is my local record shop asking me to pay 27 euros for this? :o

I found it for a cheaper price here : http://www.justforkicks.de/detail.asp?sid=2347702M81N234N204N145&uid=0&id=17434&lid=1 but you have to add an extra 5 € for the postage. By the way, what would be your advice for a first try with this band ?

NP CRS New Species - Volume X

This one has Magenta, Fates Warning, Haken, Thought Chamber ... Seems like a good vintage

My absolute favourite A.C.T album is their third: "Last Epic". It's a very underrated Progressive Rock masterpiece. It's probably in my top ten of favourite prog albums of all time!
The fourth album, "Silence", is regarded as the weakest of their discography. But no mistake, I like it very much! I can understand why people call this the weakest though (it probably is). The guitars are less present. This album is not as proggy as the other three.

NP:
Huis - "Despite Guardian Angels"

Wow! Really good! Thank you Teunis! There's only one thing you forgot to mention: this sounds a lot like Arena!
Ok, perhaps not that much, they're not as dark. But I was strongly reminded of early Arena, thanks to the chord progressions and instruments. Even the singer occasionally reminds me of John Carson. Or am I imagining things?

I will revisit this! And now I will also listen to Mystery again.

Gerne gemacht ;). It's indeed a great album. I didn't want to raise the bar skyhigh comparing it to Arena ;). Glad you like it and Mystery is recommended too. I've read on Facebook that Benoit David has left Mystery, he is replaced by a Canadian singer called Jean Pageau. Such a shame.

I have Mystery's latest album and I like it! I don't play it that often (I guess I only played it five times or something) but I like it when I play it.
Too bad that Benoît David has left. I liked his voice a lot. Better on Mystery than with Yes actually.

Man, there's so much great music coming out lately... It's really hard to keep up.

Exactly my thought. In prog many albums need more listenings but there's lack of time ... . E.g. Gazpacho gets better after each listening 8).

I'm not comparing "Fly From Here" with Mystery. These albums are not much alike anyway.
I'm comparing Benoît's vocal performance on Yes' "Fly From Here" with his performance on the only Mystery album that I know: "The World Is A Game".
And when I do, it is my personal opinion that I like his vocals better on the latter. So, I'm not saying I don't like his voice on "Fly From Here" (because I do), they're pretty good. But I got a feeling that he's holding back or something. It feels a bit forced. Obviously he's got big shoes to fill, which might have a role in this.
With Mystery the expectations were obviously not so high (no comparisons with Jon Anderson), so his voice sounds really different. He's really giving himself here.

Today I played:
Genesis - "Wind & Wuthering"
Man, I almost forgot how much I like this album. It's one of the best synth-driven prog I have ever heard.

Yes - "Talk"
As much as I like this album, it's no match for the "Wind & Wuthering" album. But I think this is one of the best Prog/Pop/Rock albums ever.

Threshold - "March Of Progress"
I'm looking forward to the next album.

Big Big Train - "English Electric, Part Two"
Love it!

Symphony X - "Paradise Lost"
Oh yeah.
