np> Talk Talk - [The Colour Of Spring (1986) #03] Life's What You Make It (4:29)

Wow, this album is truly amazing. To all real music lovers, I can really only recommend it, it's a true diamond, despite being 25 years old... omg... :)

The Cap speaks the truth - all hail Peter  *horns*

First bit of heavier stuff for a few weeks and damn fine it is as well. Not much growly vocals but what there are , Majestic beast , add a nice balance to what is a superb album. A band on a par with Opeth for me

Which makes me wonder why there aren't more female progartists in the universe.
Prog, metal and such are considered to be a male-thingy but I'm sure that there are also a lot of females who likes the music as well.

Am tired, will go to bed in a bit.
Have to go to the hospital tomorrow with my daughter.
Been there all day and the doc's would like to see her in the morning again.

Right!
Haven't played it in centuries but the album is indeed stunning.
It is actually prog allright.
Talk Talk is labeled as post-rock, together with artists like The Pineapple Thief, Mono and Sigur Ross.

I guess I have no other choice than to check it out.
I quite like post-rock.
Anyone ever heard of Au4?
I can't find their album (On:Audio) for sale anywhere, but check out their website. You can stream their whole album for free!
It's really an amazing album.

They are going to release their second album this year! If it's only half as good... :)

Today I played Threshold - "Replica".
It's better than your average compilation album. In fact I play this album more than the other Threshold albums I own. I love the version of Static here. The two previously unreleased songs are really cool too.

Romanian dark metal group, often compared to Nachtmystium.

Well, Nachtmystium are more varied, but Negura have some cool atmospheres  8)

Try this, guys:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=46GhUrtrklM

Don't ask me what they'r singin about tho  ;D

From Wikipedia: "Negură Bunget is a black fog coming from a deep dark dense forest. The name tries to picture somehow the kind of atmosphere, both musical and spiritual we'd want to create through our music. It has also an esoteric nature, standing for the inexpressible parts of our ideology. The two words are also from the Tracic substrate of the Romanian language (the oldest one, containing about 90 words) as the interest for our local history and spirituality is something of crucial importance and meaning for us as a band." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negur%C4%83_Bunget

There actually are some notable ones, but they seem to be largely ignored by Roomies. I have on several occasions lauded Lana Lane, Natasha Shneider, Julie Kiss, Lisa Gerrard, and Lee Douglas  ;)

However, Roomies are almost as conservative and male-chauvinistic as everybody else  :P

Admittedly, these are largely singers. I too miss some female stars on the instruments  :-\

I'm into PROGRESSIVE rock, or otherwise GOOD music. ;) Marmite is just a strange herbal paste. My taste buds are still young, fresh, unspoiled and not corrupted. Yours must have been through a lot of tough times.

PH and Nicky, do you know that you inspired a famous comics ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A9onard_(comics)  ;D

Léonard is set in the early Renaissance period (with some aspects of the 20th century thrown in). He is an inventor and self-proclaimed genius who lives in a small town where he comes up with all sorts of inventions. Most of these are based on more recent, real-life achievements including television, fire extinguishers, cars and planes. He has also made more fanciful inventions like time machines and robots.

Léonard is flanked by Basile, his long-suffering (and often quite reluctant) assistant. Léonard refers to his younger helper as "Disciple" ("Lackey" in the English version), while Basile calls him "Master".

Basile shows, and not without good cause, little of the respect that Léonard feels due to him and their relationship is more one of squabbling worker and employer than that of pupil and mentor. One cannot really blame the Disciple given the Master's arrogance and over-sized ego. In fact, far from teaching his Disciple the ways of science, Léonard looks upon him as a convenient guinea-pig for his inventions and shows little sympathy when they go wrong, which they almost always do.

Played:

Asia:  Alpha

Now that I'v gotten over my disappointment that Steve and Carl sold out, playing in a non-prog band with banal lyrics - took several years - I can take Asia for what they are: an excellent melodic rock band, on line with Bad English and Whitesnake, nothing more, nothing less  :)

Toto: Falling in Between Live  (2007)

Now this was a BIG surprise  *horns*

If I hadnt known it, I couldnt have guessed that this was Toto - really  :o

They had changed soooo much from the early days with those polished poppy Rosannas and stuff. Here on Falling you got a solid gutsy base, some real raunchy singing, and even wild and winding solos by Steve Luk-at-him and Tony Spinner. Whew, what a treat !  All kudos to Toto  8)
