Mindblowing, very extraordinary  *horns*

These guys are sheer brilliance  ;)

I was utterly blown over by the growl, it comes at the apotheosis, together with a blasting church organ, like some archangel or so - amazing !

Thanx, guys (in the Room)  :)

When will people start to awaken to all this fabulous music  ???

Man, are people doped ? - by all their money, luxury, chasing recognition and status, the perfect f*, TV & radio idiocy ?  What's wrong with people today ?

Guys, don't you wonder about this too ?

Guess we proggies are different. When I hear such wonderful music, all that other shit recedes, re ... ce ... des .....

This is indeed very interesting. It reminds me of Kansas and I saw that someone noticed it too on the Youtube comments. But I didn't hear the growl : I guess it is on another of their songs.

NP Threshold - Dead Reckoning

Pilot In the Sky Of Dreams is really a hell of a song and Mac has such a warm and powerful voice. Is he in another band now ?

As usual, you didnt play it thru, Bups  ;)

Hm, Kansas is one of the last bands I'd think of there  ???

Maybe it's a case of "love blinds"  ;)

Agree, Bups. I simply don't understand why he isnt used more  ???

Hm, maybe he is Clive's surprise. He'd also be a great choice for Arena  8)

Oh man, Clive really has us buzzin there  :P

Hm, not much dialog here  :(

Guys, tell me if you'r getting tired of my palavering  ;)

At least I keep the Room (barely) alive  :-\

I also believe that there are some passive Roomies who are interested in what I write. At least they keep returning  :)

Guys, don't you relate to the music that you listen to ?  Or is it just a drone in the background ?  Do you just listen to the same ten albums over and over again ?

Hope this gets yer blood boilin

Well, anyways, played:

Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation:  Mighty ReArranger

Great album, very different from not only Zep, but also his first solo albums  *horns*

Here are two of the best songs on the album:

The Enchanter (live):   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-NgBlKQS3g&p=B1DB27E31BA6A43C&playnext=1&index=53

Shine It All Around:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSt3x5HqiAA

Hey, as a bonus track, here's The Greatest Gift from the album Fate Of Nations, another great song:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz88I5YctB8

Alanis Morissette:  So-Called Chaos   8)

Lana Lane & Erik Norlander:  Secrets of Astrology

Super album, my fave woman fronted metal album  *horns*

What do you think, Teunis ?

Muse:  The Resistance

Nice, but by no means prog, more neo-classical, drawing a lot on classical music  8)

A good indicator of whether somethin is prog or not is the bass. If there's a lotta repetition in the bass and basic drums all the way thru, it's usually not prog  ;)

Prog sets especially the bass free, like John Myung's bass  *horns*

Really a  8) album. With participation of the master Arjen Lucassen. It's about time that I play this album again, thanks for reminding me ;).

Prog or not, really a cool album. Love it from start to finish!  8)

It was time to give some more "melodic vocas" a go after the darker stuff i have been listening to for a while. Variety is the spice of life  ;)

Hypothetical by Threshold

This band is really ringing my bell at the moment  *horns*

Teunis

Just: Steve Lukather - All's Well That Ends Well

Now: Believe - World Is Round

Pendragon ~ Pure

The Pendies will release a new album next year, called Passion.
It will be accompanied by a rather big tour.
The word is that the concerts in the UK and Holland (Zoetermeer) will be a two day event with lots of goodies and a chance to sing Freakshow with the band on stage!

That is, if you get to win the X-factor contest. ;)

I'm here!!!

But extremely busy. ;)

The three shifts are taking it's toll I guess.
When I'm at home, my dearest have to work (not always) so I have to keep the kids busy (;)) and when I'm at work it's the other way around.

Like it, love it but it also keeps me from the digital highway.

Sorry folks.

I'm here too.  I haven't played too much music lately, but tonight I played a whole bunch of Riverside.  They've yet to put out a stinker.   *horns*

Yeah, Riverside are super. The best Slavic rock group  *horns*

The only small beef I have (tho I'm veg) is their accent. They would do well in improving their English. In fact sometimes I can't even distinguish the words they'r saying.

The Swedish and Norwegian metal singers deliver their English convincingly, so the Poles should also get there. I'm sure they will too within a few years  :)

NP  DT:  A Change Of Seasons

Super suite !  I also like Jamie's singing on this one a lot  *horns*  - Greenie and Cap  ;)

Why is it that everytime I listen to DT, I become more attentive, blissful, my head starts rockin, and my thoughts go off in new directions  ;)

Everything from Innocence Faded on (not 6:00 and Caught In A Web, but + Another Day, imo of course) is pure magic.

DT is the true progmetal flagship  8)

But I simply can't get my head around that it was Pull Me Under that became their big hit  ???

Well, all that shit is a result of corporate arbitrariness and hype  :(

I'm not either so hot on their covers. I suppose they'r good for younger people, but for me who's grown up with Floyd, Queen and Purple, the originals are deeply settled and hallowed.

For me the real McFuneral For Friend is Elton John with his band on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, one of my alltime fave pieces  *horns*

OK, you guys aint gettin more from me today, unless ya get yer finger out ....

The excellent For lies i sire by My dying Bride

Dark , doomy and very metal  ;) completely the right music for October

Nicky007

Played:

Threshold:   Wounded Land   Extinct Instinct

Two excellent albums  *horns*

I have become very fond of Damian's singing. He really made a difference for Threshold.

Cuz

Threshold:  Psychedelicatessen

sounds somewhat bland with Glynn Morgan singing  :-\

It's amazing how prescient Threshold were in 1993 with Wounded Land. Consider the following lines from Track 1, Consume To Live:

making money out of poverty turning forests into meat

buried waste has reached the surface is there nothing left to learn?

everybody's lung is getting cancer everyone has something more to lose

every country armies are rising every gene splitting into two

I think I'l start callin you Mad 2 (too), Greenie  ::)

Played:

Ayreon:  The Electric Castle

Lana Lane & Erik Norlander:  Queen Of The Ocean

Ayreon doesnt do much for me, probably cuz I'm a lot older and have done a lot more music than most of you guys. I don't hear anything really new nor much melody in it  :-\

Otoh Lana, Erik and their friends get it right for me, in fact I'm beginning to like Queen as much as Astrology  *horns*  - Teunis  ;)

JP  Cloudscape  on  YouTube

Great band, one of my pantheon bands  *horns*

in case you hadnt noticed it yet

NP  Seventh Wonder: Welcome To Mercy Falls  (on repeat)

Great too, of course, a bit the same mood as Cloudscape  ;)

The Butterfly Man

I've been playing the following albums a lot recently:

Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare

I can't explain just how much I like this one. It's pretty easy music to get in to and with M. Shadows they have a great vocalist. I admit, it took me some time to really appreciate his voice, but once that was a passed station, there wasn't a way back and Avenged Sevenfold quickly became one of my favourite bands. You know what the great thing is? I only know their two most recent albums so there's still something left to discover! 8)

Kamelot - Poetry For The Poisoned

As much as I liked Ghost Opera, this one is so much better! It's not as accessible but very rewarding once you 'get' it. The first track features some growls and that's a first for Kamelot if I'm not mistaken. It sounds great though. Kamelot is another band of which I only have their two most recent albums, so I'll probably check out the rest of their back-catalog soon. *horns*

Next to these albums I've been playing a lot of singer-songwriter stuff but since that is of no interest to (most) Roomies I won't bother you with that. ;)
