Thanks Mad!!! *horns* I'll check it out asap!

I'll try too Mad  ;)

NP Dream Theater - Octavarium

Track 1 - The Root Of All Evil  Great track on a globally very good and diverse album.

The Butterfly Man

NP: Lazuli - En Avant Doute

Hey Bups, just wondering...what does that title mean?

Tom
There will be white clouds beyond the hills...

Bupie

It means nothing actually. I think it's a pun from the expression "en avant toute" that could be traduced by "let's move forward".

So En avant doute could be understood as "let's move but with the mind full of doubts" or "here come the doubts". I don't know the album nor its lyrics so I can't comment further ...  :-X

Galleon. Never heard of them?
A shame.

The DPRP review that I read claimed that they were good but there was nothing outstanding. You seem to rate them higher, Mad. Thanks for the tip  :)

NP> Hourglass ~ Oblivious To The Obvious

Check DPRP to read more about them.
Nicky, i think this should be interesting to you.

Yup, sure is. The review names several of my fave bands. I'l definitely keep Hourglass in mind. Thanks again, Mad  :)

QuoteSeattle-based metallers NEVERMORE have set "The Obsidian Conspiracy" as the title of their follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor", tentatively due late 2009/early 2010 via Century Media Records. Vocalist Warrel Dane states: "Spent [Saturday, May 16] at the beach working on lyrics and melodies . This song I've been working on, 'Emptiness Unobstructed', has a massive chorus." He added, "What do you get when you combine a huge crushing groove riff with hateful lyrics? You get a monster called 'Without Morals'."

I thought you might like this, Nicky...

NP: Vienna Circle - White Clouds

Just: Rush - Counterparts.
Now: Ian Hunter - All American Alien Boy.

It's been a while since I last played the latter, and hearing what was obviously Jaco Pastorius in overdrive on the title track caught me by suprise.  What a talent, what a tragic waste.

Talk Talk / Laughing Stock (1991) / 1. Myrrhan

Anyone into this? Recently got this one after searching for it for a while. Miles away from their earlier stuff, which I also like I btw (It's My Life and Colour Of Spring). I find this one a bit harder to get into than its also radical predecessor Spirit Of Eden, but it's growing on me. Both considered to be founding albums for the post-rock movement and the EMI guys were not quite happy with Spirit Of Eden. As Wikipedia states: "For the success of The Colour of Spring, EMI rewarded Talk Talk with an open budget and schedule for the recording of their next album, Spirit of Eden. Talk Talk was given complete control over the recording process; their manager and EMI executives were barred from studio sessions." The result was not what they expected ;)

I guess the EMI guys were devastated, then some of them fired, considering how hermetic I found Spirit Of Eden by the time of its release. I can not imagine more drastic (and brave) musical direction change ... That being said, I liked very much The Party's Over (I even feel that there are some very slight similarities between this one and the first albums of H's Marillion) but was not found at all of It's My Life and Colour Of Spring. I'll try again Spirit Of Eden, though.

For the anecdote, I had the "luck" to see the members of Talk Talk in a nigthclub after a show during the It's My Life tour and they didn't seem well-adjusted to say the least, especially Mark Hollis. Maybe he was composing one of the songs of Spirit Of Eden at the moment ...  ;D

NP Dream Theater - Images & Words

Track 4 - Surrounded    8) 8) 8) 8) 8) ...  8)

Nicky007

Interesting coincidence: Yesterday I whisked thru one of my fave cd-stores in Cop. They had some music playing that caught my attention. I went to the counter and asked what it was, and the guy started ravin about it. It was Spirit Of Eden  8)

So I put it on my SL.

NP: Symphony X - Paradise Lost.  Currently I'm feeling heavy enough to be mature, I expect, although I wish I didn't have to sit in this damp patch ;D
