Great album. Don't know if I wrote it before here, but gor me it's like a dream coming true. Love Erik Norlander's keyboard parts. Own a number of his solo albums and Rocket Scientist albums. And I have all Asia studio albums, both John Wetton and John Payne era. The wait was (way too) long, but totally worth it. One of my favourite 2018 releases.
Yeah, I still have to find out more about Erik Norlander and his bands. I have to say I got a little confused after the Erik vs Arjen quarrel, so I never invested my time and money in his projects. Although obviously I love is contributions on Ayreon.

Satellite - Nostalgia

Oh wow, Satellite! Yeah, it's been a while since I listened to them. Still only have "Evening Games", but I think it's a minor masterpiece of Neo-Prog! Like it a lot!

I've just finished listening to:
Brighteye Brison - "Believers & Deceivers"

Must have been ten years since I listened to this. With my ever growing knowledge (*ahem..*) of Prog, I have to say this album sounds a lot like Yes, Spock's Beard and more alike.
I think I have to put them back on my list of bands to discover.

And the Neal Morse album with his easy listening songs. Anyone here heard that one?
Yes, also bought it. I prefer the albums with his band, but I'm playing it so now and then and that's a good sign. You have to be in the mood for it.

Thinking of buying the 'Similitude Of A Dream' live DVD, the new Mystery album and the new 'The Pineapple Thief' album is not far away. Exciting year so far and exciting releases yet to come  8) *horns*.

I've updated my signature picture.
It now shows all the 2018 releases that I have bought up till now.
And there's another half year to go...

Some pretty good releases so far!
I'm particularly fond of Umphrey's McGee, which I discovered last month. You have to check this out to believe it. Rock, metal, funk, pop, jazz, it's all there.
And the Neal Morse album with his easy listening songs. Anyone here heard that one?
I'm sure that Spock's Beard is going to end really high as well, no fillers on this one!
My most recent purchase is The Sea Within and we can call this another supergroup! Sounds like a rockier (and at the same time poppier) Flower Kings to me.

Oh, and then there's that album by a very well known band... ;D Arena have released an album that is among their best! I think it's top 3 material. (Will they ever top "The Visitor" or "Contagion"?)

Listened to:

Dukes Of The Orient - "Dukes Of The Orient"

This, along with Magnum's "Lost On The Road To Eternity", is providing me my 2018's AOR fix.
I really like John Payne's voice, and 'his sound'. I'm still looking for a copy of Asia's "Silent Nation". I always thought it was pretty good, but somehow I never got around to buy it. Back then I saw a limited edition for only 10 euros but there was so much good stuff coming out at that time, so I went with something else instead. And now it's not even on Spotify!!
Same goes for GPS's "Window To The Soul" actually, although that one IS on Spotify.

I'm aware that Dukes Of The Orient is a continuation of Asia Featuring John Payne, but now that John Wetton passed away, and I mean this respectfully, is it not logical to get everyone back together and pick up where they left off after "Silent Nation"? It's not like Geoff Downes is doing anything in Yes anyway...

Yes, I also hope you had a fabulous B'day, Erik!

Sorry guys, everyday life sometimes pushes things in the background. Since I moved this forum to a new server recently, I don't have all the little watchdogs running yet, so I didn't realize that the forum was offline until I looked at it myself. I hope, everything will be alright now, though :)

Thanks also Paco, for the frank confession, that makes it a little more worthwhile.

Cheers,
Peter.

Due to the forum being down for two days, we missed Erik's birthday! :(
Happy belated birthday Erik!! :)
I hope you had a good one.

And thanks Peter for getting us back online again.
As sad as it might sound, I seriously don't know what I would do without this forum. All my musical roots started here. I need this forum, I need you guys to keep my musical engine fueled. I don't know about you, but I need to talk about my discoveries and about how I experience my musical tastes. Sharing this passion with someone is a big and (to me) essential part in the experience.

Oh man... what if this forum would be gone for a whole year...?? :o :-X
Where would I go?
