Title: Prog Radio on the Internet
Post by: johninblack on Sat, 2006-03-18, 16:25:00
About the only am/fm radio I listen to is my local BBC station and only to listen to the football (I am doing that right now and we are loosing 0-1 *edit* just scored, 1-1 *edit again* 2-1  we are winning!).
However, I do listen to internet radio a fair bit and so far the best one i've heard is this

http://morowblock.free.fr/

And this is what they have played recently

Played @   Song Title
16:19:09   Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory - One Last Time   Current Song
16:13:21   IQ - Subterranea
16:07:53   IQ - Born Brilliant
16:01:22   Presto Ballet - Find the time
15:43:12   Neal Morse - The Separated Man
15:30:34   Pendragon - The Masquerade Overture - Guardian Of My Soul
15:24:37   Marillion - Drilling holes
15:17:28   Roine Stolt (New) - Wallstreet Voodoo - 02 - Remember
15:09:40   The Flower Kings - Silent Sorrow
15:01:58   Arena - Purgatory Road

So This is a station I would recomend. Over to the rest of you, do you listen to internet radio and if so which stations?

I normally don't listen to internet radio (my dad does however).
But I'll give this one a try.

I think it's playing the Flower Kings at the moment, but I'm not sure, I don't recognise it.

The quality is good, so thumbs up for this one!

I think if they keep playing the sort of artists they have been playing the last few hours quite a few of us will listen regularly. As for quality they have 128k streaming so it is good. Totally agree PH thumbs up!

Oh by the way, I hope you win your football game. ;)
Well, actually it depends on which is the opponent.
If it's Netherland I hope you're gonna lose. ;D

But I think it's no international game now right?

Anyway, now is playing Neal Morse which is good!! (Reunion is a bit of a partytrack don't you think?)

Too bad they didn't play the whole Tony Banks song... Now I'm listening to Kansas... I'd rather had Tony Banks...
I wonder why they skipped Tony Banks. Did they do that on purpose?

But yeah...
I heard a commercialpart with Lara Moon played in the background. Hehehe funny stuff.

Thanks to this topic I'm spamming my post count... I don't think that's the way. LOL.

Well I've just got in, been out since about 17:50 and guess what, Sammi has been listening to this for ages and now i'm listening again......Can't believe the standard of songs on this station. On our local independent radio station ROCK is frowned on let alone PROG. On that station for every good song there is an hour of crap. On this one even the poorer songs are at least bloody good I'm a right happy bunny!

I'm listening to it almost the entire evening and i must say that what i hear is pretty good. Not only the edited versions of songs also the long ones.

I think i'll bookmark this.  :)

NP> Neal Morse - The Seperated Man.

You can see what is or was played with the "Song history for 128k" button/link.
There you see what has been played for the last hour and what the curent song is.

Fair enough! This song listing thing doesn't always seem to work, it's listing the song that was on quite a while ago now.

Ah, it's alright now. But it's like some songs never happened.

Well, there are these "This is such and such, and you are listening to Morow radio things between some songs, and we just had A "Hello, I'm Clive Nolan of Arena, and you're listening to Morow Radio"!

There is a 128k stream and a 56k stream but they are different programs, the 56k stream has 'live365.com' ads all over the place and is poorer quality.

I just realised that the playlist is not really big... I'm now listening to the same songs as yesterday...
Too bad.

EDIT: Ok I heard some interesting bands, one of them was The Watch. Very Genesis alike. There was another that got my attention. I'm not sure wether I like it or not, but maybe more radioplay can convince me: Sieges Even. It's more heavy. Maybe somewhat too heavy. And the accent is funny! ;D

Whoops I'm a bit late on this one....

Try ARfm... www.arfm.co.uk

We cover (OK so I'm biased!)... all forms of rock, from thrash to punk to AOR to Prog, anything goes... we really don't care...

I do a 'Prog orientated' show every Sunday (Live) between 3-6pm at www.arfm.co.uk

BUT... Don't tune in if you want to hear classic Floyd, Genesis, ELP, etc, etc.. (I do love these bands but....), I play  TODAY's Bands....

Arena (of course!), IQ, The Tangent, Band of Rain, Oliver Wakeman, The Urbane, Kino, Agent Cooper, Guy Manning, etc. etc...

You can contact me with requests etc at paulbaker at arfm dot co dot uk

Hope to hear from you soon...  ;D

Sorry for the shameless self promotion!  ;)
