I love the 80's! :) I believe that a fair percentage of the sound of my own music is influenced by the 80s.
I was born in 1983, so I was at a very impressionable age back then. In my opinion, it was a great decade for the development of music technology; Samplers, Synthesizers, etc...
Synths like the Roland Jupiter 8, Juno 106, (Clive has one of these! ;) ), and the Synclavier. (I would love to play one of those)!
And the music in general was pretty good as well... ;D

Especially the Synthy Stuff... Not the beepy Synth stuff though... although, Kraftwerk were/are good... :)
I was pretty much into Human League, Heaven 17, Talk Talk, Simple Minds (remember: Real to real cacophony, echo echo endlessly...hehe), Tears for Fears and so, also Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw, they were all heros to me. When I was sad (which happened quite often when I was a teenager) I listened to the spacy stuff, like JM Jarre, Klaus Schulze/ Tangerine Dream.
And above all: Marillion. I still have a pseudo silk scarf with the band name on it from the Clutching tour somewhere...

I was borni in 82 so as you said i'm child of the 80's too, lots of people always tell me i'm lost in space that we suposed to like 90's stuff (grunge, metal) but hell no!
