Last week, Kerry Livgren, guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter for the band Kansas, suffered a stroke. News on his condition is sketchy, but he is recovering. Last update I saw indicated that he could not speak and that the stroke had affected an area of his brain that involved motor and language skills. There are supposed to be updates at www.kansasband.com, but there isn't anything there yet.
I'll keep my eyes open for updates and post them as i see them.
Wow, very bad news :(
Kerry was the heart and soul of Kansas and without him the band was completely lost IMHO. His guitar solo on Lightning's Hand is one of the best ever in my book (well, to be honest, I am not sure whether he or Rich Williams plays it ::)).
As a strange and sad coincidence, I think a CD/DVD of a recent gig where Kerry joined Kansas on stage is about to be released ...

Just as Céline Dion's singing on Witch Hunt is one of the best ever in
my book (except that I'm not sure whether she or Rob Sowden sings it) ;D
Seriously, my thoughts are with Kerry :)
Nicky.
the latest word from www.kansasband.com is that Kerry Livgren is in a rehab facility for people who have suffered strokes. So, the good news is that he's rehabilitating.
