:(
There goes another one...
It just a matter of time till Pink Floyd is a legend instead of a band. (well, they already are of course...)
Too bad.
:o
:'(
Very sad, as such things always are. But what a legacy - Dark Side of the Moon will outlive not just Richard Wright but most of us fans, too.
I'm not normally given to such maudlin displays, but later tonight I'll definitely be playing 'Great Gig in the Sky' and raising a glass to a man who touched us all...
Yeah I was just thinking...
Amadeus Mozart and Beethoven and all those (great!!) composers are still praised and will be praised for centuries.
It is with a certain certainty adjacent to feasibility that albums like "Dark Side Of The Moon", "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" and "The Visitor" (;)) will live forever in the minds of the people for years and years to come.
Very sad news indeed,
I have always felt that Rick Wright was never really given the praise he deserved for his contribution to the PF sound , in many ways his playing was understated but he has left us with some of the greatest keyboard parts in rock (ar any other genre for that matter). Listening to "ShineOn" now and after 30 years the keyboard passages still move me....
RIP
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.
This touched me deeply too.
I can hardly think of anything more important to my life than Pink Floyd music, and Rick was an essential part of Floyd.
The Floyd albums will always remind us of this great musician :)
Those of you who don't have his Broken China should get it - maybe not a great, but a very fine album.
From Wikipedia - Richard Wright (musician): "Bandmate David Gilmour said: 'In my view, all the greatest Pink Floyd moments are the ones where he is in full flow. No-one can replace Richard Wright - he was my musical partner and my friend.' He added: 'In the welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick's enormous input was frequently forgotten. He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised Pink Floyd sound. Like Rick, I don't find it easy to express my feelings in words, but I loved him and will miss him enormously. I have never played with anyone quite like him.'"

Paxi, I agree with your first two choices, but I don't understand your third. I find that Contagion (Max, including the two EP's) is the Arena album that is in league with Dark Side. It has all that The Visitor has, just more and better.
Could you explain to me why you find Visitor better, if that really is the case ? (I continue to ask
you questions, as you always have answered my questions well) :) ;)

Well, at first, let me tell you that I'm very disappointed that you made a double post. I thought that we've learned you how to edit your post. It makes me very sad. ;)
On the topic (which is in itself offtopic): I was not talking about my favourite albums, but the most popular.
In fact I like "Animals" more than "Dark Side Of The Moon" and "Selling England By The Pound" more than "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway".
"The Visitor" will of course not live on in the minds of the main public (hence the ";)"), but since this is an Arena board I most certainly think that we can apply it on this album for ourselves (as most popular).
Whether it IS the best album or not is left to speculation of course. For me, every album has something in itself. With Arena there is no "Best Album" since they are all equally good. When I listen to an Arena album I forget about the other Arena albums and think that the one I'm listening to is the best. But in my opinion "The Visitor" and "Contagion" are both REEEAAALLY good.
You want one simple honest question?
Well, Arena gets better by each album.

And now back on topic! >:(

I did.
From a rather big distance though. About 40 mtrs.
It was a lovely concert and they were playing extremely good.
One of the best concerts i've ever seen and probably will ever see.
