I'm enjoying the song title game a lot, and I came to think of a twist to it.
Could each of you choose one band you had to get your song titles from, throughout the thread?
I'll be Helloween.
Tip: Choose a band with a few albums under their belt.
The winner is the one with the most posts in this game when the day of reckoning arrives. I'll be the one to declare when. The prize will be something special. That is a promise. ;)
So... don't make me the winner!!! To help you along, and maybe force you to choose band, here's the starting point:
Future World (From "Keeper of the seven keys, part I") - Thanks for the idea, PH!
Now, this is the update section of this post, so check back if you want a repetition of the rules, or look at what bands are already chosen, and by whom.
No double posting. Wait for someone else to reply before you dive in.
Only tracks from official studio releases from the band, or b-sides or other material that the band themselves have played live and released on an official release.
Official cover versions are ok, as long as they were on a studio album by your chosen band. (Choosing Great White as your band would allow "Once bitten, twice shy", 'cause it's a track from their studio album "...twice shy", but you wouldn't be allowed to dive into the Led Zeppelin track catalogue, just because Great White have played all of them and released most of them at some point on live albums, ep's, and collections.)
To answer Bupie's question below, if you have chosen Toto, you can only get songs from the various Toto studio albums. If Toto did a Steve Lukather song live and released it on a live album, it still isn't a Toto song. If you choose Steve Lukather, you only have his solo albums to choose from, no other projects he's been into. We must keep this fairly easy to maintain, and fair, right?
We urge you to tell us on which album the song is from. And if you've got something to tell about the track, cool!
Every song title you come up with will only be counted once. You can re-post the same track to keep things moving, though.
"The" or "A" doesn't count, just to make this a bit harder. 8)
...and to make it a bit easier, you can use portions of words... like, to be sensationally creative...
"The bells of the seven hells" could lead to "Kissing you softly"
Gettit?! :D ;)
And, by popular demand, to make it harder again, "OF" is now illegal!! :D
List of bands:
Dream Theater - The butterfly man
Helloween - Deenfan
Marillion - PH
Toto - Bupie
Jethro Tull - Steve Jones
The Flower Kings - maddox
Mystery band - Iggy
Yes - h9
The Stranglers - johninblack
Alrighty then! I'll be Marillion. ;)
Map Of The World (from the Anoraknophobia album)
-Paco
I guess I have to pick Toto since Teunis hasn't shown up so far ;D
Better World (from Mindfields)
BTW, are solo albums and side-projects accepted ? Just asking (no relation with the fact that Steve Lukather played on hundreds of albums as a session musician).
Out Of This World (from the Afraid Of Sunlight album)
Out of Love (from the album Past to Present)
Good idea to provide also the title of the album, PH :)
Can we give back to back titles or do we have to wait for somebody else to answer first ?

No double posts I think... That wouldn't be fair.
On Topic:
Hard As Love (from the
Brave album)
I'll go with Dream Theater!!
As I Am - Train Of Thought
Tom
Edit: Deenfan, maybe it's a good idea to keep track of who picked what band in the first post or something. That way it's clear for everybody what bands aren't available anymore.
Just a suggestion! :)
Good idea Tom!
When I Meet God (from the Anoraknophobia album)
In The Name Of God - Train Of Thought
Tom
Great input, people!!
I'll try to keep track, and update the first post as we go. Do help me, though!!!

Great. For instance, can we re-use the same song as long we use another word of the title ?
It's incredible how many questions/rules may come to mind for such a simple game (in its principle).
Falling In Between (from the eponym album)
Great question, which was already answered at the time of your posting, but not posted, really, since I was still writing the post!! You will get it counted just once, but you can post it several times, if that is what it takes to get things moving again after a particularly difficult title. I'm guessing the one to choose Meat Loaf will be of a lot of help in that respect!! :D
Thanks Deenfan for your clear rules and hints. It makes it much easier!
Between You And Me (from the Anoraknophobia album)
Well, that's the third of that album already. :D
You Not Me - Falling Into Infinity
Tom
He Knows You Know (from the Script For A Jester's Tear album)
Finally the first Fish era mentioned in this thread.
Jethro Tull for me, then!
To Cry You A Song - Jethro Tull (Originally from 'Benefit')
Cool games! 8) *horns*
Okay, then i'll be...The Flower Kings. 8)
Life Will Kill You - The Flower Kings (Paradox Hotel)
Undressed To Kill - Jethro Tull (From Rock Island)
There Is More To This World - The Flower Kings (Retropolis)
With You There To Help Me - Jethro Tull (from Benefit)
Road To Sanctuary - The Flower Kings (The Rainmaker)
Sympathy (For The Road Crew) (bonus track from the Afraid Of Sunlight album)
The Road Back Home - The Flower Kings (The Road Back Home)
This Is The 21st Century (from the Anoraknophobia album (again))
The Devils Danceschool - The Flower Kings (Unfold The Future)
I don't really thing Helloween's got a song with "danceschool" in it's title... hum... what word to choose, then...
No Devil either...
Then I'm out, 'cause "The" just doesn't cut the mustard in this game. It's got to be harder than that! (Hey, new rule! ;D)
Nothing for me too... perhaps Tom, Bupie or Steve can get this game going! ;D
I think it's safe to say that you (deenie, because of the new rule ;)) and me (because of it's dificulty) just killed this thread. :-\ ;D

Dream Theater covered the entire Number Of The Beast album and released it as an Official Bootleg. The track 'The Number Of The Beast' has got a lot to do with the devil and stuff, so.............
Ah well, that's the best I can do! ;D
Other possibilities:

Not so fast, Tom. ;)
We still have some options (read: candidates) left: Bluey, Iggy, Eric has been around us quite often lately, the already mentioned Nicky Beard ( ;D), Appel has been quiet but we can gently persuade him to be a part of this.
And if Peter gets out of his summer hibernation he might enter the game too. Probably as Porcupine Tree but still. :D
Some have believed the keeper of the seven keys to be the devil... Nah... too far fetched.
Damn...
Ok, the next participant needs to find a band who's got "Devil" or "Danceschool" in a song title.
Btw... you sure the danceschool is one word? It isn't dance school by any chance? After all, Spinal Tap's "Bitch school" is to words...

The good thing is that if you pick a band with a good back catalogue, your chances are equal to those who have started a long time ago. They will more and more run out of tracks, while you are at a fresh start. Get in here, now!!
Blues is plural of blue, often used to indicate a specific style of music, but the genre is called that because it's about feeling blue, or the blues. So, it doesn't need a new rule!

Chelsea Monday (from the Script For A Jester's Tear album)
Sorry guys, I just had to do it! ;D
:'( :'( :'(
Maybe we could pick the "day" part of "Monday" ???
Two possibilities:
1) Backtrack. (Reply with the song "Chelsea Monday" was a reply to, and see what happens. If no help in that, retrace one more step in the same manner.)
2) Start the "The Great Campaign for Getting More Members into the Other Song Title Game thread", and see if we can pull more souls into this. The prize will be something totally unique, and to do with music, I promise. Whether it'll be worth a lot of money in the future, I can't say. ;)
I agree with both solutions but I am not the one who can apply the first and I already used the second one ... with very few success so far :P

I think Deenie may score a point next but that could definitively kill the thread :P
Maybe you could reconsider the" three (or more) sets solution" that I proposed earlier ?

Three different bands?! I don't know... Let's see if we can get on.
If you can find your band doing a song, and prove it by way of a youtube link or similar, it's a go.
Space Suit.... Let me see...
Nope. Grapowski's Malmsuite won't do anyway, 'cause it's a suite not a suit.
Five points to the one who brings in a saviour!! ;)

Ok, new rule coming up!! ;D
Phew... Looks like we're absolutely stuck.
I'll throw some dice, then, and restart the whole thing by offering up a random Helloween track.

This should get us out of all kinds of trouble in the future. Be aware, though, that blatant shamelessness in the use of this rule, where it's not necessary (as in my case here) is discouraged. What were we stuck on? Hmmm... Yeah... Chelsea Monday. Contains HEL, ELSE, SEA, AM, ON, and DAY, just by looking at it quickly. So, let's all be good and think that way when it's necessary or cool! 8)

Yes it has, my dear friend.
The Dune games developed by former game studio Westwood are inspired by the book by Frank Herbert (but mostly the 1984 movie adaption). There are three sides in this game: ofcourse the nobel Atreides, the evil Harkonnen and a new house: the Ordos.
Some bits of music (mostly in the Dune 2000 game) make me think of the Dune soundtrack by Toto.
Yes, it has everything to do with that video game, Bupie! ;)

I realize that I didn't express things clearly : I knew that the game and movie were issued from the same story but I didn't know if Toto were involved in the game's music or if the game's music has similarities with the movie's soundtrack. You just gave me the answers. All I know is that Toto produced some original music for at least another video game (Naruto).
