Hey guys, has anybody else out there heard rumours about Shadowland coming on tour next year?!
No, but it would be 8) *horns*.
Man, I hope that's true...
But I doubt it...
Where did you hear this rumour Bluey?
Actually it's true!
Shadowland will be back out on tour next year, and we will be making a DVd amongst other things.
I really hope to see some of you at the gigs!
We've managed to whip a website up for some instant information: www.MySpace.com/shadowlanduk
There will be a 'normal' website later
Now... time to start learning piles of lyrics!
Clive
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o
COOOOOL!!! ;D ;D ;D
QuoteTo celebrate their return, they will be releasing a 'best of' album (called 'A Matter of Perspective') featuring their favourite tracks from the three previously released (but now unavailable) albums, and also boasting some brand new material. This CD (over 70 minutes of music) will be available from February 2009.
Are there also plans for a new studio album???
And will there be reissues of the first three albums in the future?
Please? ::)
Ah man, fantastic news!! *horns*
Thanks Clive!!!!
-Paco
Great news, hope to see you on tour with Shadowland *horns*. And of course I've sent a friend request to the MySpace 8).
So when then? Clive, I guess it's February? It's been February since 1998, I believe.... but it never happened. I won't hold my breath this time, but it will be great when it happens...
Can you tell anything about the line-up? Wille Mike Varty be part of it this time as well?
Can we vote for our favourite tracks for the best-of?
Excellent news. I guess the 'Best Of' means there's less chance of the original albums resurfacing, but anything is better than nothing. Speaking from the pespective of someone who only has one out of the three CDs :(
If you check the MySpace site you will see which gigs are confirmed.... and yes, it was always going to be February....;)
The 'Best of' album will contain our favourite tracks from the three album, plus some new material, which is being recording now.
Hopefully we will have the original line up (including Mike Varty), except that Ian Salmon will be replaced on Bass and Acoustic by Mark Westwood.
And that's the news so far...
Clive
Why not take this new material, write some more new material and get a new album out while you're at it? It leaves more space for some more 'Best of' material for "A Matter Of Perspective". ;)
But ofcourse, thy will be done.
I'm VERY much looking forward to this!!!
Thanks for all the info Clive, much appreciated! :) :) :)

For all those Dutchies around: it's "Ik ben de ridder, zonder het paard!".
Just to make sure that everybody got it. ;)
By the way, in German that would be "Ich bin der Ritter, ohne das Pferd."
Right, Paxi, and in African it would be: "Bongo bon bong!" :D ;D

Well, "Pferd" and "Paard" are both of "Paraverédus" which is Latin.
In Victorian-era England the English knew the word "Prad" as well.
But they later on used the word "Horse" ("Ross" in German, "Ros" in Dutch).
In African it's actually "Perd".

I heard him speaking of a new album that was in the making... but there wasn't mentioned any release date! :(
We are going to bring out a kind of 'best of' album, which will feature tracks from the three albums we made. It will ALSO offer a brand new track which I wrote last year.
The album will be called 'A Matter of Perspective'
It will be available in February 2009

Back on topic, though - is anybody going to any of the Shadowland gigs? Apart from Tom!
I think I'll be going to the Shadowland gig on 21st of February... But I'm not that sure at all... It depends on a few things.

The main plan is to see how things go with these gigs.. and the sale of the 'Matter of Perspective' (best of album with new material).

Done that - I've ordered my tickets for the Frankfurt gig. :)
Okay, let's get back on topic....
Who went to see one of the gigs and how was it??
I went - to the one in Verviers - but I forgot to bring my camera. (stupid goldfish brain!!) >:(
It was GREAT!!!
So good actually that I will go and see them again tomorrow. ;D
And hopefully NOT forget my camera...
setlist, details...?
how was Gary as support? l
Gary Chandler was great, although his guitar went out of tune all the time (at least he said so - I didn't notice quite as often as he re-tuned it). I'm not familiar with Jadis, so please don't ask me for songs... I just know that I liked what I heard!
Same for Shadowland - GREAT gig!! - but I really think you should all go and see yourselves! I wouldn't want to spoil the fun for you. ;D
What happened to the Oberhausen Gig? Why was it canceled?
Went to the gig at the Boerderij in Zoetermeer yesterday, wonderful gig and a lof of fun!! *horns* Great to see and hear Shadowland live for the first time (first time for me that is). Excellent setlist which more or less contained everything I wanted to hear (the more or less part = Half Moon Street and Through The Looking Glass :P). Although Clive dubbed it "the danger track" that brings bad luck, they did play U.S.I. which is one of my absolute favourites. I really had been looking forward to hear it live, expecially the uptempo part with those infectious keyboard riffs. The epic Hall Of Mirrors was an unexpected and very welcome suprise and the new track Edge Of Night was a real treat, makes one long even more for a new Shadowland album!
Clive, how about releasing an Edge Of Night EP/single, for those like me who have the three original albums (i.e. the SI versions of the first two, which I prefer because of the artwork and nostalgia over the Verglas rereleases, no longer available anyway) and therefore don't need the best of album but are sadly missing no less than four tracks of the concise Shadowland catalogue:
Edge Of Night EP
1. Edge Of Night
2. Dorian Gray
3. I, Judas
4. So The Music Stops
One can alyways ask and hope ::)
Anyway, the setlist was something like this (don't remember the exact order):
1. A Matter Of Perspective
2. The Hunger
The Whisteblower
Mephisto Bridge
The Kruhulick Syndrome
Painting By Numbers
The Waking Hour
Hall Of Mirrors
Edge Of Night
The Seventh Year
U.S.I. (United States Of Insanity)
11. Jigsaw
Encore:
12. Dreams Of The Ferryman
13. Ring Of Roses
P.S. Cool to see Gary Chandler wearing the T-shirt of the so-called Luv Ambassadors World Tour, the Jadis/Shadowland tour from the early '90s.

Well, sadly Clive managed to get a cold right in time for the tour, so he's losing his voice more and more... at the gig in Verviers it wasn't actually that bad (at least I think not too many people noticed), but last night was really tough (must've hurt!!). Mike and Karl did their best to help with vocals, but it was still quite painful to see/hear. Nevertheless the band seemed to have a good time on stage, considering the relatively small audience. I took a few pics and will try to upload them here.
So here's a pic of yesterday's Shadowland gig in Frankfurt.

The Future
Having concluded their short but well received tour, Shadowland are now planning more dates later in the year. This will be an opportunity to promote the new DVD, 'Edge of Night', and well as a new special edition box set, entitled 'Cautionary Tales', containing re-releases of their three original albums and the new DVD as well as a collection of bonus material (including studio and live tracks).
