From Arena HQ:
Quote2015 is the 20th anniversary of Arena's debut album "Songs From The Lions Cage" (it was released in February 1995). Arena would like to play as many gigs as possible in 2015, so we need from you the contact details of every pub/club/venue in your local area in any country that you think would be a good place for Arena to play. Please send the details to verglas@verglas.com (subject "venue") and we'll try to fit it into a tour!
So if you haven't been able to catch them live yet, here's your chance! ;)
My local hall is Wembley Arena ;D
I suggest the Ninkasi Kao in Lyon : small venue (600 places) in a big city : http://www.ninkasi.fr/fr/concert-musique/nos-scenes/kao/
It reminds me of Fish's words : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCVbeKQch6k
I'm sick of concerts being in Zoetermeer or Tilburg. :P
Amersfoort is in the centre of The Netherlands. It's an important junction for public transport. So travel time is immensely reduced for a lot of people in the North/East.
Here in Amersfoort we have a venue called "De Flint" (not too far from the train station).
They have two stages:
- "Theaterzaal" (http://www.deflint.nl/zaalverhuur/theaterzaal) (translates to: Theatre Stage, a seated audience)
- "Stadszaal" (http://www.deflint.nl/zaalverhuur/stadszaal) (translates to: City Stage, a standing audience)
both with a capacity of at least 800 visitors. So it's a bit bigger than De Boerderij.
The "Stadszaal" is probably better suited for bands (it has been used by other bands before), while the "Theaterzaal" is more like something for Caamora or Alchemy, I guess, but who knows.
Then there's also a smaller venue called "De Kelder" (http://podiumdekelder.nl/) (even closer to the train station).
They have one stage with a capacity of 350 visitors.
Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering, Ayreon, Devin Townsend) is doing a gig here in March, as she had done in the past.
(Just to name a familiar international artist)
I like the Islington Academy as its only a short bus ride from me.
Clive probably already knows the venues near where I live. These are
Substage Karlsruhe
ColosSaal Aschaffenburg
Z7 Pratteln (Basel)
Laiterie Strasbourg
Mr. Kyps In Parkstone, Poole is nice. I played there a few years ago, and Mostly Autumn played there a few years ago. (2004 I think!)
I've tried several times to answer thorugh the email, but it rejectes my messages again and again...
My suggestion for a venue in Madrid is "Sala Live!" (www.lasala.biz (http://www.lasala.biz)), many great bands have played there as Riverside, it's well communicated and is one of the most respected venues in the town.
But my real real suggestion is...please, come back! You haven't been here since Contagion and I have to say that show really changed my life, and I'm not exagerating.
I didn't go there to see Arena but Pendragon's acoustic show, but I was completely blown away. It was the best I've ever seen (and, believe me, have been in many many concerts). I connected with the music and the band so deeply that Arena became my favourite band and you still are!!!!
Please, Madrid waits.

I've passed the suggestions on to Arena HQ, fingers crossed! ;)
It seems they are doing Leamington Spa Assembly. I booked already. March 22 I think.
About the Ninkasi Kao in Lyon, I am sure that Clive already knows the place ... or will soon since Pendragon is playing there on the 27th of October. Hope I'll be in the audience.
