... Why are you using this particular nickname?
I'll start.
Years ago when I first registered for a dutch forum (http://forum.hadrian.net) I had to figure out a name that would suit me. It had to be a really wierd name, kinda funny and, of course, totaly stupid. So it became Appelmoes?? (Applesauce??) By now it has become not only my nick on fora, but also irl ;D
From the Porcupine Tree track of the same name (from "The Sky Moves Sideways" album).
;D
It's because I always eat apples when I was student, so I got this nickname, "pomme" ;)... I write it "pom", it's shorter ;D! And I use it in some other forums for years...
Well, mine's obviously not a nick, right.... ;) No time for talking about parents, bees and so on...

Apples rule... 8)
It comes from the fact that Deen Castronovo is my favourite drummer, and also, when you use SMS spelling rules, in northern norwegian it spells out "It is a devil"!!! (Or, any of the names you may have for him, that also works as a... er... I must think... descriptive title, the same way you use the word devil. We have Satan, Fan, Faen, Belsebub... You may recognize a couple of them. My, how this post turned out... :D
Anyway, I guess this is more common in my tongue, but we tend to say "He's a devil on drums", meaning he is really good... So, we actually say that the devil is good... ??? ??? We need to have our language adjusted, I just realised! ;D

Apples and custard ;)
and, 'creme anglais', where does that nick come from?
I named my business "custard" after my Custard-point surf board........ now most things in my life tend to be custard related........
creme anglais is a bad french custard substitute........which often makes me laugh........ not really sure why:-)
my nickname comes from scorpions "love at first sting" album. the one of the beginning of the huge world wide success. i kept "first sting" abd as i'm french, "first" became "french". So that's it...
I'm afraid I've got no nickname. :-\ Well, my nickname is just my own first name. When I entered this forum I took a minute to think of a nice nickname, a good passage of a song, a title or something like that. Nothing came up to me, so it's just my first name. But whatever! :D

Great album indeed ;D . Did feel though that they went downhill somewhat after that. Savage Amusement was certainly a disappointment for me. Gather the new one (Unbreakable..??) is a return to form but haven't heard it. Lovedrive / Animal Magnetism / Blackout & Love at First Sting are the classic 4 studio ones though. ;D
If you're a Rush fan I would've thought it would be obvious enough. ;)
Er, it's the name of my dog....
And the reason why I chose "Gelert" as the dog's name, is because I try to find unusual names for our animals - Sasquatch (our cat, because she had HUGE paws as a kitten); Nemesis [RIP](Sasquatch's mother, because she was truly the Goddess Of Retribution with our Jack Russell called Rama [RIP]); Sassy's brother Ninja [MIA]; Sassy's offspring included Pogle [RIP] and Cobweb [RIP]...just a small selection from the ever increasing number of animals that I am fortunate enough to call "friend"...
...and also "Gelert", because the story is cool....check out http://www.red-dragon-wales.com/MythsandLegends/Gelert.htm...
...And the ultimate sting in the tail is....
...Well, I'll save that for another post...!
That story is to damn long for this time of day... (And I had some beers :D) I'll read it in the morning! ;)
I first got the name Xanxa from a dream I had, in which I was a Jedi named Xanxa Jinn (being Qui Gon Jinn's niece or cousin or something), so I started signing up for fora as Jedi Master Xanxa Jinn.
Then when I was posting something on the Genesis forums about the Guaranteed Eternal Sanctuary Man (part of the Supper's Ready concept), I signed myself Xanxtuary, being a mixture of Xanxa and Sanctuary.
Since then I've signed up as Xanxtuary to a lot of fora, but on the Rush message boards (now sadly defunct) I was known as Xanxa Dryer 3. There are other variations, I'm sure all of them fairly obvious.
well no surprises here aswell ;) Torch is ofcourse the main character of Clutching at Straws by the Marillo's, who has an allergy to Perrier, daylight and responsability ;D
My nickname is simple .... Sim from my name and Tere from the wife (and now shes bitching because it should have been SimTere not Simtere .... oy vey already)
Rather boring really by comparison to some. I sould pick a new one but having slavishly worked my way up to commoner I dont want to start out again as a broomstick.
"The Voyager" is a marvellous track from Pendragon's album "The World"(my all-time favourite).
Spad.... the truncation of "Spadino"..... do you remember the sit-com Happy Days??? Spadino was the italian name of Fonzie's little cousin.
My colleagues called me "Spadino" for the first time some years ago because of my way of dressing and my (apparently) young age...... ;)
I try to make a translation of Spadino........ something like "little sword"........ but not in the true sense of the words.....
Bye.

Any O-Level Latin students out there will recognise the humour behind "Sword" & "Scabbard"... ;D
Ergo, "Little Sword" is inadvisable.... ;)
Well I used to call myself Melodramatica as I can get very melodramatic when upset... that gt shortened to Melo somewhere alog the line ;D
I would expect to not need to explain this nickname... ;)

Well ehhmmm... Where did you get your nickname from? ;D
Mine is PH.
P is my first letter of my forname.
H is the first letter of my last name.
I had other nicks.
Solid Fox (Solid Snake and Grey Fox (Metal Gear Solid (sorry for my MGSness))) That was on an MGSForum.
I'm also called 'paus' ('pope') by my colleagues.
They found out that I'm a Christian and gave me the nick 'pope'.
I'm actually not sure wether I like it or not. :-\
At least their not making fun of me (I'm not aware of it, that is)
well..................
Creme Anglais is because I used to have a business called "Custard Cards"
and "Wilcey" is because my surname is "Wilce" so my boyfriend always calls me Wilcey.......... so it's my name really!
The nick name thing can be fun, but to be honesst it is also quite tiresome........there are folk on here with weird old nick names and knowing them in real life, I find it hard to remember to use their fake-names!
So, for the record, Hello, my name is Rachel .................(Wilcey to friends!) ;D
Wilford is the nickname I use for my oldest grandson. His middle name is really William. So he is Wilford and I became Wilford Jr. Doesn't make much sense but there it is.
Saryna is the name of my best friend's little girl. She is 6 years old and asian. :)

And what about the avatars and signatures?
I made my avatar myself, using the art of Contagion from the official website.
I liked the color yellow and gave the Arena logo a yellow colour.
My signature is actually a picture. I wanted to add some text but I forgot which text I wanted to add...
Sooooo I only (!!!) have a picture in my signature also based on Contagion and this time with a spinning Arena logo.
Also I have yet another nickname, someone of the MGSForums (a forum for the game Metal Gear Solid) called me The Dutchinator, which is a nickname I'm proud of.

I'm a Huge fan of comics, especially everything with an X, and i'm collecting those since 1979. In one of those comics there was a guy named Jamie Maddox ( actually, it was "Madrox", but who cares??) AKA Multiple Man, and somehow that name always sticked to me.

Not a nickname, it's my real name.
It come from Friesland (a northern province in the Netherlands) and many people over there have names like Wiebe or Siebe (or even silly names like Tietje, Foppe, etc.)
At age 17 I changed my name due to puberism I guess. In chatrooms I took al the weird names I could think of, in the end I forgot them all or mixed them.

But you say it's music related and the clue was "All the info is right in front of you".
That makes me think of Dream Theater's latest album, the last song: Octavarium: "asking questions, searching for clues, the answer's been right in front of you".

The "Cyborg" comes mainly from the game Metal Gear Solid (cyborg-ninja). And the "Frask" part is made up from my first nick "Fraks"
I mainly use this one on the net. so if you see someone online with this name.... big chance it is me :)
- Gergor
This is accualy pretty funny. my brother sometimes calls me like that. it's because of an old TV program. There was a guy in that program who had the name "Gergor Fregor Frank" and because my real name is Frank... he started to call me Gregor. (i know, i know my brother is a bit weird :P

whahaha. so my plan worked :D . It was really weird the first time my brother called me like that. He came into my room and said: "j0w Gergor". i looked back and was like ??? ??? :o WHAT???
I think mine is quite easy.
Since my real Dutch name (Jan-Jaap) is totally unpronouncable in any other language, I started calling myself JJ.
This seems to be the calling-name of a well known (to us at least) bassplayer as well, so I adopted the number II. To avoid questions for autographs and about bass-playing.
I've been using the JJII for quite a while now.
BTW, my avatar has been drawn by mr. Peter Nicholls himself, isn't that cool?

Well, Nick and Nicky are the most common nicknames for Nicholas. There's Nicky Hopkins (a session pianist who played for i.a. Rolling Stones), Niki Lauda (who smashed himself up in a Formula 1 car, happily surviving), Nicky Wire (who writes lyrics and plays bass in Manic Street Preachers), Tsar Nicholas II of Russia (called Nicky by Kaiser Wilhelm II and King George V, now it's gettin pretty colorful), Nicky Hilton (American hotel-heiress and fashion designer, sister of Paris Hilton; hm, maybe it's time to stop this).
The story behind the "007" is more special. I got to the port of a massive internet forum (forgot which), and I had to find a nickname there. Obviously "Nicky" was occupied, I tried "Nicky1", and "Nicky2", ... "Nicky13", none of'm worked, and being somewhat frustrated and just for the heck of it, I tried "Nicky007", and surprise (or voila, for Bupie), it opened the door. The wierd thing of it all is that I loathe Bond films (although as a youth, I was also sitting there shoutin "kill'm, kill'm ....").
Well, it gave my a chance to scare the s... out of Appelmoes (with my post nr. 100), and I can still laugh about that episode (hope you've forgiven me, Appy). ;D
