Now here's a question.
This tour in April will be the last time to hear 'Solomon' live for a while. As a song, it really needs a rest!
So... what do people think are worthy Arena encores?
What is the track that the audience might be hoping to hear?....
Clive
riding the tide..... i love this instrumental...
... movidrome ??
merci clive !!!
i 'm at la scene bastille the 11 ....
ps ian : play with your rickenbaker ....
I fully understand you Clive! You play something loads which we probably only get to hear as a one off, must be getting tiresome for you by now.
My suggestions are: Butterfly Man, Opera Fanatica
Man Im looking foward to April 12th :D
Since i live in Norway and cannot attend.... :'(
But if i could be there i would love to hear : Spectre of the Feast, one of Arenas best songs IMHO! The chords with the basslines in the beginning are so beautiful!!

OK, see you there ! ;D Easy to recognize me, 'cause the last time too, I noticed that I was the only teenager...
I think, some of Contagion would be great... I don't know if everybody wish that, but I think it would be awesome to hear Ascencion. I loved the end of the song in the CD Live and Life. ::) :P
Hmm, let's see. Either an EPIC or a rocker, but which ones?
Moviedrom is THE Arena EPIC without a doubt, but I fear that one is a tad to long ;D
First thing that came to my mind was Cutting the Cards, followed by Ascension. I think those two songs are almost perfect as "album closers" so they might also work as an encore. Plus, you'll have the rocker and EPIC :)
I should point out that we will be playing 'Moviedrome' and 'Riding the Tide' on this tour...;)
How about something awesome from "Pride"? "Fool's gold", "Medusa" or "Sirens"... or "Empire..."? :)
Sirens would be cool :)
And knowing Moviedrome will be played will make a visit to one of the gigs by me much more plausible ;D
(Goes to talk to friend)
Hmm, an epic ending.
For me one of the ultimate encore songs is Jericho. Simply love it and suits it's purpose well.
Ascension is great too. Could be a great closer of the night: First Jericho and then immediately followed by Ascension.
I also agree with Sirens. Exit one epic song and have Sirens in return.
Hmm, so many choices.

No idea about "the audience" in general, but... how about "The Healer"? *blink, blink* Please!! :)

Why did they create so many excellent songs ???

Good choice though if i remember correctly some Arenians weren't all to happy about this song.
Not that I'll be able to see you guys this time round (Reading or bust !!) but any of the last 3 tracks from The Visitor - Enemy Without, Running From Damascus or The Visitor would be my suggestion.
OK, having thought a bit more about this, Arena encore songs should be (in this order...)
Fridays Dream (acoustic)
The Visitor
Crying For Help VII
I think that an encore (French word by the way ... Strange since in French we never use it this way : we use the word "rappel" instead) has to finish with an upbeat song to get people dancing and shouting. So not a ballad, at least for the last song.
Opera Fanatica followed by the now traditional Crying for Help VII would be my choice. I hope I can be at the Paris gig to watch it live !
Enemy Without could be another great choice. And if Nick Barrett is in the neighbourhood, why not Pendragon's Red Shoes ? ;)

I guess then I'll have to 'blink, blink* and beg a lot more! ;)

Both ideas are OK by me (as long as they play that in Aschaffenburg, too!). ;D
I would suggest Vanishing Act.
That is a nice tune. Not an epic, but then again, doing Moviedrome is the epic on the tour.

Good one Rolf-Eric! ;)

They would do that by Smoke and Mirrors ;)

Hey, your message gave me an idea : why not "extras", like I Spy, Confrontation or The Hour Glass ?
Arena could play songs from Contagious -um, it could be great. Have they never been played live ?

I suppose they played them live in the studio. ;)
Yeah, those are really awesome songs.
Very underestimated (also by Arena themselves)
Those songs are almost all amongst my favourites from the album, which is my favourite album :D
