Dear Arena fans!
Any musical compositions to say nothing about genius ones by Arena evoke some visual associations and images in our minds. I think it would be very interesting to you all if we shared our thoughts about the visions. Since Arena band didn't produce any video clips on their music we could do it on our own or generate an idea how to do this basing on the discussion. For example, almost every composition from Pride is imbued with the images and sounds of the ocean, especially Sirens, Medusa, Crying for Help VIII.

About Crying for Help VIII:
Crying for Help VIII is very dismal composition, I definitely see the Ocean's bed with starfishes, jellyfishes, and ... sunk ship or u-bout with dead crew inside. It seems that woman's solo voice deplore the dead men. In the end for a moment we can hear a white shark swimming by.

Do you have some thoughts, ideas, and images to share?

Peter

I mostly listen to ARENA while riding my bike, so I have enough impressions around me....
Witch hunt and An Angel Falls sometimes give me the impression of the forest where the scene takes place.
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

PH

Yeah Witch Hunt... It makes me think of a bunch of people running after a girl screaming "Exile!"
I think that would make a great video clip.
Or What about Painted Man?

Every time I play Arena's music I can see what's happening!

With the beginning ofWhich Hunt i picture myself a plaza/square in a city just like Venice with lots of people sitting and drinking/talking at the tables (you know, a panoramic-tourists scene) and when the music sets in, everything explodes.  :o Have no idea why, but it always does.

MAD.

What do you see on those visuals then?

Dexter

Skin game is definitely about nuclear physicist working in a closed secret laboratory (Knowing what I know I'm never free to come and go) and experiencing serious psychological problems.

The theme is continued in Salamander:

Blue fire (Gamma Ray), spreading across
From my finger tips - a powerful chaos (powerful mass destruction weapon)
Ice cold, consuming all
Unstoppable advancing wall of
Radiance (Gamma Ray again), marching forth

One strike of a single match (mistake during the experiment)
And the human race is reduced to ash

Question to JeffMc:
Are there real video clips to Arena compositions?

PH

Arena should bring out a DVD with all of their videoclips, just like Genesis did with 'The Video Show'.
But first they should make more videoclips then. ;D

After reading the short story of Contagion I just visualize that while listening to Contagion. For the rest of the albums I don't visualize them that much. I think it's because english isn't my native language.

Same here, It's the music of Arena that I enjoy, the lyrics don't bother me that much. I can only imagine a 'Hanging Tree'  ;).
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

Ouch....

I think the lyrics are a great part of Arena!
I like the music, for it's music, but I can't imagine Arena without the ab-so-lute-ly GREAT lyrics!

I like Arena's instrumental's too. ::)

I like the lyrics too, but sometimes they are to "abstract" for me. Yet that abstract part is a good thing, cause it makes you think about it, and since I can interpret a song differently than some-one else does, it makes the music more personal. (So, good job Clive, I bow to ye!)

I can taste the poison!

The main hero takes plutonium two semi-spheres inside and swallows them one after another

I can touch the fear inside!

Nuclear blast...

If you look on the EPs Contagious and Contagium, there is a clip on each one. Put them in your computer. I believe you need Quicktime to view. Sorry for the delay, so much going on over here, I have had hardly time to read the forum in whole, lately.

Cheers,

I came across the effects of listening to the beginning of "Moviedrome" while walking through Westminster tube station comming from the Jubilee line.  I think the song fits the surroundings very well.

Here's some details:-

...Is this just a dream I'm in?
