I have kept track of my entire cd collection in the app 'Discogs'. The app contains the possibility to have it decided what to play by shaking your phone. This is today's result:

Moonrise - Soul's Inner Pendulum
Antimatter - A Profusion Of Thought
Gazpacho - Molok
Airbag - Identity
Bjørn Riis - Forever Comes To An End

Very enjoyable ;).

jp: Dilemma - The Purpose Paradox

np: The Pineapple Thief - Last To Run (EP)

;D. Indeed, too much of the same so now and then. Really like his music and, like you, I'll play it more often. But I used to order his new releases in advance, but nowadays I 'try before I buy'. That says enough.

Glad you had a great time. I'd love to attend MorseFest too, but I found it way too expensive.

On Spotify. Some nice tracks, but I was expecting more from him ...

It's no secret that Neal Morse's output is filled with self-plagiarism. ;D He has a way of writing that works for him. And honestly it works for me as a fan as well! But something with "No Hill For A Climber" rubs me the wrong way, and that probably has to do with the too obvious nods to previous work. Normally I don't mind him doing that as it is often subtle. Besides, Mike Portnoy often warned him when something sounded too much like something else. I think these 'new' musicians (who are all extremely talented by the way!) might be too star-struck to constructively feedback Neal. ;D

Within the first five minutes of the first song I recognised Spock's The Light, Lifeline and Carie (of Spock's "Snow"). Halfway in the song there's a Roine Stolt kind of guitar solo over a Similitude melody background giving it a Transatlantic vibe.

I don't know. I haven't given it much time yet. I probably end up liking it anyway, as I end up liking all of Neal's output. I really like All The Rage by the way. Hopefully a second album will have more of its own face. Neal Morse Band also brought something new to the Neal Morse table, so hopefully The Resonance will as well.

It seems as if The Resonance is a substitute for The Neal Morse Band. It is as if Neal does not want to go on with NMB as long as Mike Portnoy is not around.
Maybe the trio of Randy George, Bill Hubauer and Eric Gillette could join forces again without Neal and Mike and try something out. There's too much talent there to go wasted.

Oh! And I was present at MorseFest Europe this year! ;D The Resonance singer Johnny Bisaha stood in for Ted Leonard (who was ill) and he blew everyone away. He is a very likeable guy and has a fantastic voice(!!) and not bad on guitar either! On top of all that he learned all Ted's parts (and then some) within two weeks and did a brilliant job. Amazing.
Honestly, MorseFest was the greatest musical happening for me this year. Yes, it was (really) expensive, but in the end it was so worth it. To me it felt as much more than just a musical concert(s). It was three days filled with musical fellowship and awesome people everywhere. Looking forward to next year! ;D

EDIT:
I'm sorry, that was a bit off topic.

I was listening to the new Opeth album which is pretty nice as well and the first not-Neal-related music I listened to in a week.

Solo + Side projects / Re: The Professor King Chronic...
Last post by erik - Wed, 2024-11-13, 18:49:19
Clive has been busy with shooting a promo video for the upcoming second Imaginaerium album 'The Siege'. But what about the Professor King movie in the making? Good news, the project is moving forward and the website relaunched:

QuoteI have learned that making a movie can be a frustratingly slow process, unless you are blessed with a Hollywood budget I guess. Meanwhile 'Alchemy, the Movie' (directed by Neil Monaghan) is inching forward... slowly but surely!

I'm pleased to announce the re-launch of the movie website, which will keep you up to date with the latest developments.

Simply follow this link: www.professorkingchronicles.com

Simultaneously, the Honourary Society Of Alchemists is launched to crowdfund the movie:

QuoteJoin the Alchemists and help make ALCHEMY happen.

Through the innovative use of green screen technology and virtual sets, we are able to make ALCHEMY for a fraction of the budget a steampunk action-adventure would normally cost.

£420,000 to be exact.

£172,000 of this is cast, crew and equipment hire. All  have agreed to defer payment until or unless the film make a profit.

The UK Government will also support the film with 31.8% of its budget through the AVEC tax credit, worth £33,000.

This means we're able to make ALCHEMY a reality for as little as £115,000.

We're looking to recruit 1,150 members of the Honorary Society of Alchemists to fund that £115,000.

But we need YOUR help to make it happen!

Watch the video to find out more and if this is for you, press the yellow button to join us and see King on the big screen.

I really wish to see this movie made and I have joined the society 🎬🍿
