Hey, folks. Since 2004 is over, let's inform each other regarding our favourite albums(top-ten). Suppose, you had any disappointments too.  >:(

#1
Um...right, (thinks), favourite prog releases from last year would include:

Paatos : Kallocain
Pineapple Thief : 12 Stories Down
Porcupine Tree : Warszawa
IQ : Dark Matter
Tr3nity : Precious Seconds
Riverside : Out of Myself
Fish : Field of Crows
Asia : Silent Nation
Blackfield : Blackfield
Tangent : World that we drive Through
Neal Morse : One

and disappointments would be:

Marillion : Marbles (bland and boring)
Magenta : Seven (too much like Yes copyists  - good vocals though)
TFK : Adam & Eve (the 1st one of theirs I haven't really enjoyed)

;D

(had to edit that, really bad spelling mistake  :-[ )

Thanks for co-operation, Moonloop.:D You're the first, who answered... And here is my own top-ten list for previous year.
                                       1. Retroheads - "Retrospective".
                                       2. Magenta - "Seven". :P
                                       3. IQ - "Dark Matter". ;)
                                       4. Red Sand - "Mirror Of Insanity".
                                       5. Threshold - "Replica".
                                       6. Metamorphosis - "Nobody Cares".
                                       7. Arcansiel - "Swimming In The Sand".
                                       8. Cryptic Vision - "Moments Of Clarity".
                                       9. House Of Not - "The Walkabout Of A.Nexter Niode".
                                      10. New Eden Orchestra - "Anyman".
There are some disappointments. I rate among them: Marillion("Marbles", without comments), Frameshift("Unweaving The Rainbow", mediocre) and Tr3nity("Precious Seconds"- because of annoying lead-vocals) .  As for latest Asia effort("Silent Nation"), I'm still hope to see reforming classic line-up. Maybe in one future day. I'm fond of "the one and only", incomparable mr.John Wetton.

Mark Jan

I'm not able to make a top ten of favorite albums of 2004, because of the simple fact that I don't have 10 albums of 2004.  :-\ I'm buying more older albums last years. But I can drop some good titles of 2004.

Knight Area - The sun also rises
Marillion - Marbles
Ayreon - The human equation
Threshold - Subsurface
Michael Ernst - Excalibur (might be 2003)
Fish - Field of crows (don't like it very much, but it got some very good songs)
Manic Street Preachers - Lifeblood

Personally, I think it's his strongest since "Sunsets"  ;D

He does seem to be more interested in acting though at the moment - probably cause no-one's buying his albums  ;)

Recently I tried to relisten "Marbles".  >:( My point of view is still the same: modern Marillion is just a parody of old glory days. Who's to blame? Maybe, both of frontmen. :-\

The first for leaving, the other for coming in?
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

Moonloop

This calls for a Marillion poll  ;D

Right you are. Fish has gone, and Steve is here to appear in the character of Otello (this time Marillion instead of Desdemona). :'(

Gollum

I liked "Field of Crows", though Raingods with zippos was better... maybe the best "after Vigil", or is it Sunset?  ::)
About Marbles: I couldn't even get in the mood to give the album a try, since their previous works were quite disappointing... But I don't think it is a matter of Fish/Hogarth, I liked all their music until Afraid of Sunlight (maybe there's a "4 album" cycle? :P), though Holidays in Eden is almost on the edge of being bad. After AOS, Marillion entered some kind of "fade out" (IMHO, of course), but there are always a cup of "passable" songs. Actually, some are really good, but when it comes to the whole album... They drifting away from my taste.

(OK, this is supposed to be about 2004 releases... but I just know 2 of them :P)
