Title: Wroofs or Mews?
Post by: Appelmoes?? on Thu, 2008-07-31, 07:27:46
Well, this one is rather obvious, so no further intro.

I'm a dog person. imo they're easier to play with and I'm A LOT more allergic to cats than to dogs.

Who's next?

I like self-sufficient creatures. I would never survive having a pet that is by it's nature desperately dependant upon me and my attention.

So, cats it is.

Yeah, I do too !

I have had exclusively cats, because I'v lived alone most of my life, and most of my friends have had cats, and the cats got kittens and stuff.

But I'm very fond of dogs too, and I can pet them and play with them for hours on end.

One day when Ms 007 and I live together I'd like to get a cocker spaniel. I love their playfulness.

In fact, I like many types of animals, and with others (like mosquitos, flies, spiders) it's live and let live. That's why I don't eat them. That outta be obvious, but it's not, cause meateating is so ingrained in humans.

However, if a mosquito gets into sucking my blood, I smack it.

In this connection, I have a funny story about my first cat (after several family cats as a kid):  I moved into a student apartment out in Albertslund, 10 km west of Cop. The guy living there before me hadnt been much of a student, I was told; his life had stalled, and he was abusing alcohol and hash. I had just gotten my stuff into the apartment, and I was moving it into place, when I heard a rattling at my main door. I opened it but couldnt see anyone in the hall. So I closed it again and wondered what it could have been. When I got back into my living room, there was a big male cat glaring at me and saying, "Just wanna tell you, I live here, bugger !" OK !!!

Well, we managed to become friends. In fact, I really got around to loving Kashmir. He was a proud cat who didnt take any shit. He beat up all the other male cats in the neighborhood, and I have no idea how many Kashmir Jr's there were about.

The guy before me had been a bum. He loved his cat, but often forgot to tend to its needs. So Kashmir had learned to take care of himself. One of my first days in the apartment, I found the fridge door open and several of the food packages and cans lying on the floor and bits of food lying around. In those days, I was a carnivore, so there were plenty of goodies for a cat in the fridge. I tried to tighten the door, but to no avail. The only solution was to ensure that there was always fresh tasty food in the cat bowls.

I had Kashmir for 4-5 years. Then one day a young woman came with the fine collar I had made for him. She had found him dead, run over by a car, lying in the ditch. Man, was I devastated  :o  :'(  :(

Then, a few months later, Tjavs came into the the picture ....

Well I've got three cats (Persians) and three dogs (2 border collies and an English Springer Spaniel) so I'm destined to struggle with the woeful array of options presented here.  ;)

To sort out the experienced owner-operators from the theorists, perhaps the question should be along the lines of...

When fumbling for the kettle in the half-light of another hostile workday morning, do you prefer to realise that the warm moistness squeezing up between your bare toes is:

a) Doggy-do.
b) Kitty-do.

 ;D Stevie.

And if you also have a human baby in the menagerie, there's a third option  :D

Awful things.  Tried one once but didn't like it at all.  Sold it to Madonna in the end.  You wouldn't believe the fuss that caused when I took it down the post-office.  ;)

Love certain dogs to bits but have never owned one.

Love cats have owned several.

Living in Londonb dogs aren't an option we need furry things that look after themselves so cats it is

I like both occasionally.
And I have to say that I was attacked lots of times by dogs. I really had a "I hate dogs"-moment in my life.
Cats are in command, so that will make you the pet.
So it's gotta be the dogs then.

But all animals are cute when they're young.

Come to think of it... I really would like to have a goat. The living ones. Not that thing that happens to grow on many chins.

I like cats.  Cats are fantastic.  They are trained assasins with an agenda known only to themselves.   :)

My experience is that people who have pets have big hearts, the more the bigger. It's always a good sign for me.

You have a big heart, Johnny ?  :)

(I don't know how bo*s fit into this scheme tho.)  ;D

This sentence reminds me of my former neighbours.
This is the list of pets they had:
- 3 dogs
- 5 cats
- 4 chinchillas
- 3 birds
- 6 (or 7?) goldfishes

And about them having a big heart...
It's because of these neighbours that we decided to move.

There you go.
