Mangala Vallis - "Voices" (Bandcamp page)
First listening. Not bad. I see myself listening to this again. It's in the Symphonic Prog and Neo-Prog camp. It's an Italian band, so I half suspected them to be singing in Italian, but it's English. For similarities bands like Magic Pie come to mind immediately.

And now I'm listening to Mangala Vallis - "Voices" again. (Bandcamp page)
It's pretty good. Actually, of all the releases I've heard in February so far, this could be one of the best.

Today I also listened to:
Sunrise Auranaut - "The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn" (Bandcamp page)
and
Heavy Moon - "Heavy Moon 16" (Bandcamp page)
But both didn't do anything for me.

Yes, I had to work early, so plenty of time to listen to some music.

Today:
Airbag - Disconnected (Just beautiful, looking forward to the new album that will be released this year 8)).
Steve Lukather - Ever Changing Times (Too long ago that I played this album).
Gazpacho - Demon (After 'Tick Tock' and 'Night' my third favourite Gazpacho album).

jp: Magnum - The Serpent Rings (Second spin, pleasantly surprised. Will get more airplay).
np: Blind Ego - Preaching To The Choir (More and more impressed by this album, looking forward to hearing it live *horns*).

Now listening to:
Gabriel - "New Life" (Bandcamp page, not on Spotify)

Interesting. Actually, I don't know what to think. I can hear that he's not a bad singer, but he uses his voice in a very strange way sometimes. Musically it's alright, albeit a bit tame. Apparently Clive Nolan plays along. Don't know which songs, but at least the title track. Also the Pendragon drummer Jan Vincent Velazco and Steve Rothery play a part. And Dave Kerzner (of In Continuum and Sound Of Contact).
For me, nothing really stands out now. It might change, dunno. Perhaps you can give it a listen.

Oh, he sounds nothing like the other Gabriel we know. ;)

Peter

Recently been playing the Fish era MARILLION albums, mostly my son's choice; he's going to do a presentation on them in school :D

JP: MARILLION - Real to Reel (my absolute favorite, I so friggin' love this album!)
NP: Slash - Living the Dream
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

Pendragon - Love Over Fear

Finally I'm able to listen to this album, it was a long wait. Played it twice so far. It's more relaxing and emotional music than rock, a very calm album. Would have expected a few rockers in between :). But it will grow on me till the gig on 15th April, I'm sure 8).

Bupie

Hi guys, just stopping to say hello after somewhat like two (three?) years  :-[ Basically, I went on holidays in New-Zealand and never reconnected with the Room. Happy to see that Teunis, Mad and PH are still on board! What about the others?

Oh yes...

NP Threshold - Legend of the Shires

I really like that one, pretty much all of it and especially the opener and the ballads. I also like Glynn Morgan's voice but I was not afraid since I deeply enjoyed his singing on League of Lights Forever

I am thrilled that Threshold is coming to Australia (where I live now for those who don't remember :)) in a few months.

Anyway, I am back and plan to visit on a regular basis again!

BUPIE!!!! So nice to see you again! :)
It's pretty much just Peter, Teunis, Maddox, Keyboardistmatt and me now. As you've probably noticed, Peter has sent out some newsletters trying to bring some of the old members back. And since you're here now, I'm assuming that it worked! At least for one now, which is great! Hopefully more will follow.

That album is one of their very best! And very high on my year list of 2017! Great album! So much melody and at the same time it's heavy and proggy. Fantastic!

That's so cool! You've got a bit of catching up to do :D but then again, things have been very quiet here for the last two years (or maybe even more?). Hopefully things will change. Anyway, your return is a big step in the right direction for The Room.

Nice one.
I didn't like the album at first but after some (10+) spins, it got better and better.
Had to get used to the singer though.
I was happy that Wilson fill in the spot after Mac died.
I really liked For the Journey.

NP The Watch - Tracks From The Alps

BP: Pallas - Fragments From The Edge Of Time, a free promo that was handed out at the Pendragon gig to draw people to the Pallas gig in September. It is an excerpt of the retrospective anthology Edge Of Time that explores the atmospheric and cinematic side of the band with reworkings of tracks from their back catalogue. Quite enjoyable actually. I left Pallas aside a bit after Alan Reed left and XXV did not really click, but I am trying again now. Wearewhoweare I rather enjoyed yesterday on Bandcamp, next up is XXV of which I also happen to have a promo copy.

NP:
Anubis - "Homeless" (Bandcamp page, also on Spotify)

This is actually the first time that I make a real effort to listen to this band. I tried before, but for some reason couldn't persevere. This time, things are different. I am really liking what I hear. This is the fourth spin already. Three times in the early morning and now in the evening.
Evenings are definitely better for music listening.
The singer reminds me of a mix of Peter Nicholls (IQ), Marco Glühmann (Sylvan) and occasionally even Ross Jennings (Haken). Musically, there's some Phil Collins in the drums for sure (the 80s Phil Collins, not the 2020 Phil Collins :-X (bad joke)).
Best discovery of the month for now.
