After Spock's Beard's "Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep", I listened to Riverside's "Shrine Of New Generation Slaves".

Yeah, I have to get down to those albums .....  8)

How does Ted do with the band, Paxi ?

Quote
Anyone here who does NOT like it? ;)

I'v spent quite some time with Flower Kings. At this point, they don't really grip me. To me it seems like restless stuff that never really becomes melody, nor vibe. And Roine's Swenglish bugs me  :-\

Neither really Transatlantic  :(

If I'm to listen to soft prog, then rather Genesis (Cryme - Abacab) and Spock's  *horns*

Here's somethin real addictive - Bupie, now & then you'r spot on - here melody, vibe, and power, and even sweetness, get together in an a super way - whew, thrilling !

NP  Circus Maximus:  Nine  (on repeat)  *horns*

Here and there they get quite DTish - no bad thing  8)

Bups, have you managed to bury your saloon metal stuff ? (nothin against real b**bs)  ;D

Ted is doing really good! I'm going to listen to it again today.
About Roine Stolt's "The Flower King": it might be considered to be the first Flower Kings album by some, but in reality it's a Roine Stolt solo album. I'm not much into The Flower Kings myself, but this album is really good. If you haven't listened to this album already, please do. There are a few songs (if not all) to be found on YouTube.

OK, I'l do that, Paxi. I'l also give my two FK albums another run. Always nice to share, and the music is definitely worth another run. It's just that you asked for our honest opinions  :)

I'v noticed that the "Insert Quote" facility hasnt worked for a while now, tried it on several computers. I can get the stuff anyway, by cut and paste, so I haven't made an issue outta it. You think that your problem is due to that, Paxi ?

NP  CM:  Nine  (on repeat)

You can find the full album on YouTube:   www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbHWh_PiHV4

Actually, I own their whole backcatalogue. So you can't call it gambling, though I've heard it before buying. Really great album and certainly not their heaviest one.  8)

Manatee

NP: Big Big Train - English Electric Part One

Really enjoying this.  Melodic and catchy.

Other new (to me) music:

Porcupine Tree - Octane Twisted:  I read some iffy reviews of this, but considering that, it's a pleasant surprise.  I think the live version of The Incident breathes some needed life into it, and the second disc is great!

Riverside - Shrine of New Generation Slaves (2 disc version): I found it somewhat disappointing at first, and I still don't really like the opener, but most of the rest is growing on me.

Echolyn - Echolyn - It's not perfect, but on the whole, I really enjoy it.  Seems stronger than the other stuff I've heard from the band.
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

I remember hearing a Redemption album years ago and if I remember correctly, it was this one and I liked it. But as there is so much great music, didn't find the time to check it out more. Will do, noted .... . Thanks Nicky ;).

np: Clive Nolan - Alchemy The Musical

Arrived yesterday, first listening. If you like the previous one 'She', you can buy this one blindly :). Many of the musicians and singers are the same.

Actually I really like the stuff he did with Jon Anderson, Jon & Vangelis  8)

Alone he is a bit too ambient for my taste. I quickly get bored  :-\

Teunis, Coil was released in 2011, and it's their most recent studio album, so it can't be that many years ago.

I haven't delved into the lyrics so far but I will. About my faves, I share yours but I would add Namaste to the (very) highlights. Anyway, there are no fillers on the album though Used and The One are a bit weaker IMHO.

PP IZZ - The Darkened Room  Brilliant, really (and no pun intended)  *horns*

NP The Minstrel`s Ghost - The Road To Avalon Another very good surprise, courtesy of progstreaming again

Today I was listening to some classic Kaipa ("Inget Nytt Under Solen") and Mike Oldfield: "Incantations".
