Unexpect - Fables of the ...

Stopped at 2:00 of track 1, due to growling. Unexpect are medieval-kind of metal with violins and - a thing I never heard before - a lady singing, and growling. Yikes.

Actually, that's not really a surprise for me. ;)
But respect that you even tried it!  *horns*

NP  Alice Cooper:  Billion Dollar Babies  *horns*

I often think back with joy to one of the most memorable concerts I'v been to - and I'v been to many concerts - the concert in Copenhagen on AC's Welcome to my Nightmare Tour. Whew, what an experience, skeletons dancing danse macabre on stage and stuff  :o

I want to discover new music, and I think it's good to start where it all started: in the past.
I need to listen more to the 'classic' bands, so now I'm listening to:

Van Der Graaf Generator - "Godbluff"
4. The Sleepwalkers

Very good! Anyone into this band?
It reminds me much of old Kaipa.

Not really.
Only have one album so I might not be very objective here but overall, based on one album, I have to say: not my cup of proggy tea. ;)

Which I like much better!!

NP  Alice Cooper:  Killer

For long I vacillated about AC being pantheon or not. A few days ago I decided to make up my mind about it. Billion Dollar Babies being the best sold album, I started with it. Altho it was good, it didnt really rise to pantheon level for me. Then I tried out School's Out; not either. But then I put on Killer, which long ago was my fave AC, and man, that sure did it: I relived those fantastic sounds of Desperado and Dead Babies, my fave songs on the album, and also the other killer songs.

So on the basis of Killer, Alice Cooper (the band) goes pantheon (past master)  *horns*

Anyone else here into AC ?

Well, you're right about one thing: I didn't got that connection. *puzzled*  ???

For me it does.
A bit psychadelic, though the bio should also mention a connection with Porcupine Tree, especially the early PT.

NP  Borknagar:  Epic

Fine Norwegian black metal. In the vein of Enslaved, Arcturus - Funky, Mad, Tom  ;)

One of the things that is unusual about the Norwegian black metal scene is that you have all these many group names, but it's surprisingly few musicians who go in and out of them. You get the impression that some guys run into each other in the pub, they don't have any upcoming release or concert, they discuss ideas for new music, realise that they have enuff for an album, and then they figure out under which name they make it  :)

e.g.  Liquid Lightning    www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU9VobPGgZQ

Super stuff  *horns*

In the vein of DT (particularly Scenes) and CM, and just as ambitious  8)

From Wiki:

Dominici is a progressive metal band formed in 2005 by former Dream Theater vocalist Charlie Dominici. Their only released work is the O3 Trilogy, a series of three concept albums about the story of a terrorist sleeper cell coming to the United States and falling in love with the country. Dominici was an opening-act for three Dream Theater "Chaos in Motion Tour" concerts that were held in Croatia, Hungary, and Austria.

Charlie Dominici recently stated on his Facebook account that Dominici is coming back strong in 2011, but he also mentioned in the comments of the post that if people wanted to see them live or releasing another CD, then fans should spread the word about them, saying "hardly anyone knows about us".

Listening to another Dutch Progressive Metal band: For All We Know (Within Temptation guitarist, with Wudstik (also known from Ayreon, and Kris Gildenlöw and a few guests)

I've heard the first three songs and it sounds good.
I have to say Wudstik is not a bad vocalist. He already surprised me on the Ayreon album.
I once had a collegue (a rap lover) who hangs out with Wudstik. And his sister (my collegues' not Wudstik's) was/is a reviewer for Progwereld). Wudstik lives in my town.
