Quote from: Teunis on Mon, 2024-09-16, 22:42:34'Tick Tock' is my favourite Gazpacho album, 'Night' close second. I'm playing both albums a lot!

Yeah "Tick Tock" is great as well! And if we add "March Of Ghosts" to the list, then you have my three favourite Gazpacho albums. I still need to hear "Soyuz" and "Fireworker". Their albums are really hard to get into.

Quote from: Teunis on Mon, 2024-09-16, 22:42:34The credits go to Maddox, I'm not a SW fan 😉.

Whoops!  :-[ (Sorry Maddox!)

Quote from: erik on Wed, 2024-09-18, 11:41:44I rather like PRR, I actually got into their music with return album Eupnea. I did listen Dark Third at the time but it did not click then, bought it after all these years when Eupnea got me excited. So rather the reverse of your PRR journey Paco  :) Above Cirrus needs more listening and is less immediate than Eupnea for me and the new one is on my long check-out-and-listen list. I do not really know the 2nd and 3rd album, I passed given the less favourable reviews.

Cool! To my limited ears, the new album sounds like a perfect marriage between "The Dark Third" and the later albums. It reminded me a lot of "The Dark Third" actually. So now I really need to do a deep dive into all the albums in-between.

Quote from: erik on Wed, 2024-09-18, 11:41:44Regarding Harmony Codex: really strong album I think, I have skipped Future Bites and To The Bone but Harmony Codex got me interested again. Also look forward to the upcoming Overview album. Actually tried Future Bites right after hearing Codex because Codex was so good but turned it off again during the first track..

Quote from: maddox on Wed, 2024-09-18, 20:58:50Each to his own, of course, but I found both albums refreshing after To the Bone, which innitially I disliked very much.

A new Steven Wilson album is (still) something to look forward to! As the time of release of the new album gets near, I will listen to his whole discography again. I love "The Raven That Refused To Sing", "Hand Cannot Erase". Initially I was not that much into "To The Bone" but now I think it's alright!

Quote from: erik on Wed, 2024-09-18, 11:41:44NP Jon Anderson & Band Geeks - True. First listen and love it, I do not agree Paco that there is too much Jon Anderson on it but that is a matter of taste I guess, for me this is the best Yes album in many years.

Okay okay! ;D  Time to revisit the album! I love Jon! But sometimes he seems to be a bit too much 'out there', and then his lyrics don't make sense to me anymore. But maybe that's me. Of course he was always that way, also in Yes.

Quote from: maddox on Wed, 2024-09-18, 20:58:50Wow, didn't know he said that but that must have something to do about the rivalry between Roger and him.

Now that you mention that, you could be right. I'm just glad that David Gilmour didn't decide to do a bass-less cover album of "Wish You Were Here" or something.  ;D

Quote from: maddox on Wed, 2024-09-18, 20:58:50Indeed, Wish you were Here, Animals, The Wall are great albums.
Personally...The Final Cut too, but understand why people think it's Roger's first solo album.

I really love those four albums (from "The Dark Side Of The Moon" till "The Wall"). These guys were really more than just the sum of its parts. Leave any member out of the team and it's like it's not really Pink Floyd anymore and starts sounding like a solo album by either Roger ("The Final Cut") or David ("The Division Bell").

Quote from: maddox on Wed, 2024-09-18, 20:58:50Ironically I find all the albums prior and after The Art of Navigating by the Stars a let down.
But again...each to his own.

And I couldn't get into "The Art Of Navigating By The Stars" :D

I used to go alone a lot, but as I grow older I start to dislike it.
I think I know why tho...

This friday: Epica in the Music hall in Amsterdam.  *horns*

Quote from: PH on Tue, 2024-09-10, 22:13:53I really need to try it again. The album was hyped a lot last year and many people said it was much better than "The Future Bites", but to me it sounded much alike.
But the 1 year anniversary for "The Harmony Codex" is coming up, so I might as well listen again and try to enjoy it for what it is.

Each to his own, of course, but I found both albums refreshing after To the Bone, which innitially I disliked very much.

QuoteDavid Gilmour - "Luck And Strange"
Wow! Not bad at all! David Gilmour said this is the best he has done after "The Dark Side Of The Moon". I don't agree, because I think "Wish You Were Here", "Animals" and "The Wall" are all much and much better than this, but still... this might be his best solo album. At least better than "On An Island" and "Rattle That Lock". I am not that well known with his earlier solo albums.

Wow, didn't know he said that but that must have something to do about the rivalry between Roger and him.
Indeed, Wish you were Here, Animals, The Wall are great albums.
Personally...The Final Cut too, but understand why people think it's Roger's first solo album.

QuoteSieges Even - "Paramount"
I was late to the party, because I discovered Sieges Even after Subsignal, but this album is really good.

Ironically I find all the albums prior and after The Art of Navigating by the Stars a let down.
But again...each to his own.

Wow, I cannot believe it is 30 years as they say - actually I can but I would rather not face this fact, getting old 😁

Good to see Arena hit the road again!

I do not mind going alone either, if it is a gig I really want to see I go, especially with many great gigs nearby (notably Boerderij Zoetermeer and Parkvilla in Alphen).

Next one up is the Big Big Train double gig weekend, really look forward to it.

Pretty nice stuff. I was much into "The Dark Third" back when it was released in 2006/2007 and I was disappointed with the following two albums. Then they went into hiatus. After their return I was not really interested so I missed their fourth and fifth album completely. This is now already their sixth album (their third after their hiatus) and now I am intrigued. Anyone here who is a fan of the band and (all) their output? What are their fourth and fifth albums like?

Wow yeah, that's still a great album! One of my favourites of the 2000-2010 now that I think of it. Unfortunately on Spotify they only have the re-recorded version which, to me, sounds very different. I prefer the original.

Also, last saturday, inspired by Teunis, I bought Steven Wilson's latest album "The Harmony Codex" for only 9,99. At home I immediately played it while reading and looking at the booklet. Unfortunately the booklet is not impressive...  :P
Still too early to tell, but there's love and hate on this album. Economies Of Scale is off putting while Impossible Tightrope is pretty good!

I also listened to the new Tim Bowness album, but that was really hard for me. I couldn't stand it... It made me listen to some of his other albums again though. I really like "Lost In The Ghost Light" (!), "Flowers At The Scene" and "Late Night Laments". Any Tim Bowness fans here?
