We're having "bathe in waste" for the fourth week in a row. There's a strike that involves the garbage collection, which is about raising the weekly work amount from 38.5 to 40 hours...

waaaaaaah, someone tell them that in "real life", i.e. not in civil services, people are used to having 40 hours in their contracts but working 50 hours anyways....

About 5 weeks ago, Bouge and I were in town, and there were two people dressed as pirates parading about, I didnt have a clue what was going on so i asked a police woman and she didnt even know. Talk about weird!

My Learned friend has forgotten to mention the fact that not only were they dressed as pirates, one was being pulled along on a trolley/pirate ship by the other and singing and dancing, songs such as "in the navy", while trying to get us to join in. I reluctantly did, and made an idiot of myself! Oh well!

He also neglected to mention that we stalked (I mean followed :)) them for atleast an hour!

Only if they see us  ;)

Actually, I think they did cotton on, they offered many people the chance to pull along their ship, but we were never offered; a real shame really, probably thought we would run off with it!

Do you want to know what's happening in my town today?
At this very moment there's a guy who makes it possible to have a super fast internetconnection.
We will get fibreglass cable.
It's 20 times faster than what I have now (now I have ADSL connection). Woohoo.

When I post again it will go a lot faster! ;D

Imagine yourself "small" and believe me, this fair is even smaller.  :(

Yesterday we had a fair here in Vianen, which was pretty nice but there wasn't really anything usefull. Lots of food, lots of bands 'trying' to make some music and lots of stalls with, as i mentioned earlier, with lots of ehm...nothing actually.

To make a long story short: Didn't buy much yesterday.  :-\ *horns*

Not really in my town but my parrents in law lives in De Meern, The Netherlands and they were having a party today due to their 40th wedding aniversary. The evening started off good with Blof but unfortunatly, music wise that was the highlight of the evening. It went pretty fast down hill from there.

Let's see: Froger*, Borsato*, some skyradio stuff, Joling* and so on and so on.  :-X :'( :-\

But the beer tasted good though, and besides the music we actually had a really good time out there.  *horns*

Up to the next 40 years i'd say.  8)

I live in a town called Bedford and every two years, we celebrate what we call a River Festival which is when everybody goes to the river and there are fairground rides, markets, all sorts of food stalls, a ferris wheel (which the radio stated was like a miniture version of the london eye), live bands playing (the bands are from the counties schools ans stuff but theyre fun) and all sorts of goodness takes place at this event. The River festival took place Saturday and Sunday and the evening finished with fireworks and a hot air baloon went up glowing nicley in the night sky.

It was a rather hot weekend for such an event and the ammount of people there didnt help. Overall, it was fun.

That's the good thing with cats they dig it under, so you don't have to take it away. Not so fine is it that they do it in a children's sandpit, if they do it in the garden than sometimes they plough away some plants with their legs, not nice either.

Not today but yesterday (saturday) a bunch of very, very, i mean very expensive cars came riding through Vianen. It was a part of some charity event, don't know the details, and they drove through a couple of cities in the vicinity of Utrecht if i'm correctly.

The cars my daughter and i saw were astonishing. Cars like Porsche Boxter and 911 Carrera, Ferarri Enzo, Lamborgini Diablo and Bugatti.  8)

I'd be very rich if i could affort only one of them.  :-\

Unfortunatly they didn't stop.  :(

Hehehe bummer :P it's really annoying if those cars are 'showing they're engines off' they can produce a MEGA amount of noise.

A few years ago i made a instroduction book for the car and in it there were all the specifications of the car and the price. That scared the hell out of me. :o  Awesome pictures btw. Still have that book up the attic.

And no. I won't sell it or give it away to anyone. :P 8)

Hehehe :D

I got the 'carros' (some kind of catalog from all cars of that year) where the Ferrari Enzo specifications are in. Really mindblowing... But in that catalog in another car that is even more expensive then the Enzo....The Bugatti Veyron....THAT car has 5 radiators... :o just 2 of them are there to cool the turbo's on that thing...It has 1001 breakhorsepower and a top speed of 406 KM/h (253 Miles an hour). You will never get late for work that way :P. It costs about 5 million dollar to build. But only a few were made

It's a drving death machine....I LOVE IT  :P 8)

The snow is melting in earnest here in Colorado. It was 71 degrees yesterday. All that with big piles of snow everywhere.

Maybe tomorrow.

Yep, in Vianen (the Netherlands, where i live ;)) we have three days of interesting stuff happening.
Every year we have this thing called 'Nationale Sleepboot Dagen' which roughly translated in English would mean 'National Tug-boot Days', where a lot of Tug-boats enter the vast(!) harbour of Vianen (;D). What you get is a nice collection (+150) of Tug-boats, old and new. There some pretty nice ones between them.

Thanks, Teunis.  ;)

Unfortunately we had to celebrate it inside. There was a bit rain but overall it was unpleasantly warm and damp. Indoors wasn't good either but enjoyable than the outside.
We had fun anyway.  ;D

Today Princess Maxima was in our neighbourhood so I went to see her.
So I was in a Royal-loyal mood for once.

Everything's normal now and it didn't effect my way of life, nor my view of prog.

I just chanced on the royal idiocy in Holland on TV. It's weird to juxtapose this with the fact that, on the same planet, in places like Darfur, people are dying like flies of starvation, disease and violence.

I actually considered using "marshmallows", but decided it was less apt, as I usually eat marshmallows, while marshroomies I let be (I might rag them a bit though).

In what way do I disagree with Maddox on Dream Theater?

Dream Theater is one of my favourite bands, take a look at my listenings profile.
The only thing I can think of, is that Systematic Chaos is not quite the album I wanted Dream Theater to make. That's mostly because of the lyrics!! But musically it is really good, although it could've been better in some places.
Threshold's latest album is better in my opinion.

And by the way, if I want to kill, I make reasons!

So, today is the Oldtimer day in Vianen.

A lot of old cars and trucks are driving their rounds through the city and will be parking on the main street.
Made a few pictures and there are some great cars between them.

Lovely.

It being a summer weekend, as usual what is happening in my town is lots of loud lawn-maintenance equipment in use while I'm trying to sleep.  Most likely someone's plotting to raise property taxes again too.   :P   On the plus side, I will be traveling to another place, where there will be heathen festivities, including beer and Nicky-approved food.

Apparently it's "distract-Paco-so-he-cannot-do-his-homework"-day here.
- There's a brand new pub about 200 meters away from our house, and they're having a party.
- My brother is sitting next to me and is telling me why programming in Java and C++ (and the likes) is such fun.
- You guys are too active here in the room! Stop it!

Something's happening in my town today. Something interesting.

We have heavy rainfall this evening. It has been (mostly) a shiny day here, but now....
Actually, I like these kind of storms. It's better than "just rain". It's exciting.
It's interesting.

Wet is what has been going on all month In Jax Florida. Got 2 inches today and another 2 inches expected tomorrow. We are 10 inches above normal for the year, and a tropical storm now developing. Half of downtown is flooded, and about 15 streets closed due to flooding. More time to listen to music cuz sure don't want to be driving.

Some b*gg*rs've made off with the cash machine (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/8275262.stm) from my local bank.  This was the second nearest machine to my house, although how near it is now is anyone's guess!

A new sculpture has been unveiled in our county town, complete with some bits to stop folk climbing on it.  Inevitably some Herbert will see this as a challenge (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/8286961.stm).

This marks the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin, we're told.  I presume he was the inventor of the Slinky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slinky)...

I have to say it is asking to be climbed, especially after a few drinks.

It's a bit like asking people to refrain from climbing on the lions in Trafalgar Square.
