Title: Bargain! (Prog Shopping Channel)
Post by: Steve Jones on Sat, 2008-05-17, 14:38:40
Oooooh!  As I hadn't gotten around to buying it yet, I couldn't resist the Ltd Edition of Ayreon's 01011001 from Amazon UK (see here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/01011001-Ltd-Digipak-Ayreon/dp/B000YKOXEA/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1211027585&sr=1-7))

OK, I really wanted the +DVD version, but at 3.96 UK pounds what was I supposed to do?  ;D

If anyone else spots any bargains, please feel free to share with us tightwads  ;)

Update.  This is actually the 2CD + DVD for the trifling sum of 3.96 - I've just opened the package and am well chuffed  8)

I appreciate that most of this forum seem to have all 27 different versions of 01011001 already, so this deal probably isn't much use to them, but for anyone in the UK who is as slow off the mark as I am, go for it!

I have two of them...

The same copy as you describe: I have it twice...

How's that? ;)

Haha good one! ;D
I might try that, but I'm still figuring out which one is the male!
I know the ones I've got are female, since they have a hole in the middle...

Ok ok... quick! Other subject before things start creeping in my mind!!!

I don't know if anyone over here is 'into' Coldplay but if you click the link below you can find a copy of the new album Viva La Vida Or Death & All His Friends for a reasonable price.

Enjoy!  8)

Edit: i have to add that this is a Dutch site. It's also in English but then you have to add the .com extension.  ;)

For anyone in the UK aroused by Nicky* and his Stevie Vai fixation, note that Amazon UK have both 'Passion & Warfare' and 'Fire Garden' at a mere 2.98 - bargain!

Personally I'd recommend splashing out a bit and getting 'Alien Love Secrets' for a mammoth 4.47, just because 'Bad Horsie' is a must-have track.

That sounds like noise, Mr Vai, and I want it stopped!  8) ;D ;D 8)

* Apologies if I've ruined anyone's appetite with that!  ;)

If it's a meat dish, I'm OK with it (i.e. ruining)  ;D

Btw Steve Vai is a very spiritual and vegetarian guy. Check out his homesite  http://www.vai.com/

Blimey, I'm listening to my copy of Rush's Snakes & Arrows and I notice you can get the whole thing as a download for £1.69 from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Snakes-Arrows/dp/B001F2WW30/ref=pd_sim_dmusic_33)!

Indeed.  Annoying how every cheap deal I find is for something I've already got >:(

Well almost, I've just purchased Tomas Bodin's 'I AM' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/I-am/dp/B0025ZZ6ZC/ref=sr_1_223?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1243443904&sr=1-223) for a massive £2.37 8)

Let's face facts: there can't be that many albums you haven't already got, so the odds are not in your favor (favour for biscuit-eaters).   ;)

Some interesting stuff on Amazon at the moment, some of which I thought it would be rude not to purchase at the price.  Non-UK residents will obviously need to check their local Amazon, as the international postage tends to wipe out these savings!

Anathema Judgement (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Judgement-Anathema/dp/B000FGGEOK/ref=pd_sim_m_h__22) and A Fine Day to Exit (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fine-Day-Exit-Anathema/dp/B000FGGEOU/ref=pd_sim_m_h__1) at £2.98

Opeth Deliverance (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deliverance-Opeth/dp/B000FGGETU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1245411285&sr=1-1) at £2.98

A hole bunch of Paradise Lost (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Icon-Paradise-Lost/dp/B000FGGESG/ref=pd_sim_m_h__28) stuff at £2.98

It's worth checking back with some of these offers if they show as out of stock.  I wanted 'Judgement' (already got 'Exit) which was out of stock last night, but I checked again this morning and they'd got some more.  Bang - ordered! 8)

I find their music somewhat monotonous, but their lyrics are intriguing.

The other two groups need no further comments  *horns*

I've never heard anything that convinced me to go for a purchase, but I know quite a few people who like them so thought it worth a mention here just in case it was useful to anyone.  I was going to take the plunge and try one at £2.98 but then the Anathema one (which I really, really wanted) came back into stock.  So it'll have to wait until I get some more money...

At the moment, I want to live in a country, where the entire King Crimson catalog is on sale for 14 cents.  I definitely want to dive into the Belew waters, and I've been scanning Amazon prices for a good time to strike.  It's something else to occupy my time whilst I wait for the pound to dollar ratio to come down to something that won't make an investment in the 2-disc Racket Records version of Marbles akin to buying Manhattan real estate.   :o

Don't Amazon do bargain basement deals down your way?  Being a tight b*st*ard, scouring the cheap pages has become pretty much my main hobby these days ;D

Actually, i'm sure they will.

I've never tried that. It prolly might work.
The only international bank transfer i ever make is when i pay for my membership for VoicesUK (UK Dream Theater fanclub).

I could use the credit card but i only tend to use it in case of emergency.  ;)

Lately I've been so addicted to this Polish site, called Rocksewis. (http://www.rockserwis.pl/serwis.do?menu=main&l=2)

The prices are pretty cheap and their service is quite good, though it's doesn't come very handy that the invoice is solely in Polish, as well are the prices.

On their site you can also see what the price is in Euro's (click English version) and they have a pretty decent bunch of good prog albums and classics.
And as I already mentioned: They're quite cheap!

The new Lunatic Soul album for instance.
I bought it for a 'lousy' €8.30 euro's!

And you can pay by Paypal as well.  :)
