What is the status in Arena?

Just wondering, it is so quiet, no news, Clive post seldom. Mick is almost quiet, the others never post...

John states on the It bites page that " 2008 is going to be a massive year for It Bites", it seems that 2008 will be a busy year for Pendragon also, Mick  tours with Jesters....

So what is going on in the Arena world? Is the band on hold?

cabo

Clive

Right... The Arena 'on hold' period is coming to a close!
We have sat back a little for the last couple of years due to the need for a break, combined with the wish from various members of the band to pursue certain projects (For myself, the last two years have been consumed with the Caamora project). However, the plan was to get things going again this year... and that is still the plan!

We will be in tour in April, and these will be the last gigs we intend to do before making a new album.
There is now a concept for the new album, and some bits of material have been written. There are a few things to sort out and then our attention will revert to writing the Arena album.
Although there are no deadlines, I would like to think that much of the album will be written by the summer... then it will be time to record it! There is no release date planned at the moment, but that will come as the writing progresses.

Once the Arena machine grinds into action again, it won't be a question of 'a busy twelve months'... or 'a massive year'... it will be 'All about Arena for the next few years'.

Hope that answers the question..... Status - Active!!!

Teunis

Thanks Clive, that's the news we've been waiting for  *horns*.
Let's get active  ;) ;D.

That is good news. Given that the last few albums have been progressively heavier I'll be very interested in the direction this next one takes ;)

LOL

Yeah and Arena goes gothic and we will see Rob in a dress using his operatic voice!
Rob has learned DJ technics and we hear an interesting mix of rock, metal and progressive trance.
And ofcourse Rob has also learned the jigs and reels, so we can see him doing a little Irish dance on stage.

Rob Sowden, the man with as many impossibilities as possible! ;D

Oh boy - how I've been waiting to hear this!! :)
(Not that I don't like all the other Arena-related projects, but Arena are still my favourite.)

Yes! How about a sequel to 'Riverdance'?  *horns*   ;)

Hm. I guess that's good news... not to me, though, because it seems I can't go to those gigs.  :'(

If this picture doesn't do the trick, then nothing will!

But I guess chances for "Contagion - The Max" aren't too good... this is what 'relevant people' said when I asked:

QuoteFrankly I'd rather write a new album....
:(

On the other hand - who of us would complain about a new Arena album?!? Certainly not me!!  ;D

Given that the last few albums have been progressively heavier...

In light of this I have suggested to the organisers of ProgPower UK that they may care to check out Arena to provide some balance to their festival (which is a lot of fun and recommended to all). Given the reception Threshold got in 2006, I think arena would attract a lot of positive interest with a  heavier orientated set (that could be fun working that out!!)

This would be a great idea !  May I suggest an "heavy" one hour long setlist ?

Smoke and Mirrors
Chosen
Painted Man
Spectre at the Feast
Enemy Without
Friday's Dream (for a little rest  ;))
Opera Fanatica

Well according to my rough and ready iTunes playlist you have about six miuntes spare so I've addded in Purgatory Road because that is great too...  :)
