This afternoon I 'bought' the Elbow album 'Build A Rocket Boys'. On my work we get 6 coins of 5 euros to buy our own summer present on a market. It's a tradition before the summer and the Christmas holidays. I spent 3 coins and didn't know what to buy and noticed this cd. I've read a lot of positive comments and liked the track I saw on tv from their Pinkpop performance. Played it only once. Not bad. I'm sure it will grow on me, but you have to be in the mood for it. It lacks power, I can even play it when my parents are coming  .

Yesterday I ordered three Vangelis albums!
I'm quite excited about it, because I couldn't find these albums anywhere, and now they were on Bol.com for just € 7,50 each!

Vangelis - 1995 - Voices
Vangelis - 1996 - Oceanic
Vangelis - 1998 - El Greco

They should be here next week!

Especially "Voices" and "El Greco" are something interesting!

"Oceanic" is more in the New Age genre, but I like it anyway.

"El Greco" is Vangelis' attempt at classical music. But not in a Mozart/Bach/Beethoven way. It's so different from anything I've heard. It's more like layers of sounds, spheres and feelings. Not very easy to get into, but we're proggers! We can do anything!

"Voices" is one of the few Vangelis albums that has vocals. The song Ask The Mountains is like heaven! And Losing Sleep (Still, My Heart) has one of the best instrumental sections Vangelis has done. He rearranged this song and released it as part of the Alexander movie soundtrack. (Another great soundtrack album by this unearthly keyboardplayer. Although the movie is very bad apparently.)

I hope this man will make more albums!

Anyone here who likes Vangelis? Even a tiny little bit?

I already had the four book set, but I found out that the fifth book, "Mostly Harmless", was more expensive in itself than this book set.
I paid a scandalous price of 9,99 euro.
Scandalous, because it's worth at least 30 euros.
