Dream Theater signed a record deal with Roadrunner Records. This, along with the title of the new album, can be read on the forum of Mike Portnoy's website in a message posted by Mike himself. Here's a direct link:

Yes, read it today on the VoicesUK official fan club. This is great news indeed. 

Though i must confess that i was a bit surprised that they signed with Roadrunner Records. Inside Out was my guess. BTW this is not a complaint. Motown would've been okay too.

I like the title. It reminds me of Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence that I really loved

I might repeat myself, but I still can't stand to listen to DT more than 10 or 15 minutes in a row. They are real geniusses on their instruments and I find their compositions extremely interesting, but James' voice simply drives me crazy.

"Stop wailing, James, I really didn't steal your purse...."

Peter, to be honest I have that same feeling when listening to the first few albums. But from "Metropolis Part 2" and onwards I think James' voice made a big improvement.

Personally I love his voice. But I certainly know what you mean. I must confess that I like James' voice on The Human Equation far better!
And still I REALLY like Dream Theater and they're one of my favourite bands!
I'm very excited that they will release another album!!

It's going to be a good year, Dream Theater - new album, Marillion - new album, Threshold - new album lot of new music to listen to!
Maybe Arena next year, they've started writing so that's a good thing!

On CD-wow the new album can be pre-ordered for only €11.99.   
And although i know that Dream Theater usually has the tendency not to bring out Limited Editions, i just thought 'new record company'...well...maybe...

So...What to do?

I will....Buy it. 

Maybe an idea for the rest of you?

Darn. I just read something on the DPRP news pages:

ROADRUNNER RECORDS regret to announce the delay of the new Dream Theater album Systematic Chaos. The album, scheduled for release on June 4th has been postponed due to errors in artwork printing. A&R man Derek Oliver commented: "We regret the postponement of the Dream Theater release due to printing errors in the artwork. The booklets received from the printing factory contained errors that did not pass our high standard quality check, so we had no other choice than to reject the artwork and get it reprinted."
The release date will now be July 23rd.

Systematic Chaos if the first album for the band to be released on Roadrunner records and is the band's ninth album, following the critically acclaimed Octavarium. The album was recorded at Avatar Studios in New York, with veteran engineer/ mixer Paul Northfield (Rush, Queensryche, Porcupine Tree). As usual, Portnoy and Petrucci chose to co-produce the project, which features seven compositions (one a 25-minute epic).

The Flower Kings seems to be working on a new album, which apparently would be their last because the singer Hasse Fröberg wanted to...teach in India and will move after the recording and touring to India. Their drummer Marcus would step in to fill his place but under a new name. The word 'Genesis' emerges. Maybe Roine Stolts own name...:roll:

DREAM THEATER'S upcoming release "Systematic Chaos" will be released on Tuesday June 5th (date may vary in different countries) and will be available in two formats:

Regular Edition CD:
 


and a Special Edition CD and DVD:



The Special Edition DVD will include:

--- the entire album mixed in 5.1 surround sound
--- "Chaos in Progress - The Making of Systematic Chaos"
(a 90-minute documentary directed by Mike Portnoy)

This sounds interesting. 
I sure hope the special edition will be released in Europe as well. There is a link to a Japanese site but that seems a bit far away.

That's the Japanese link i talked about. They seem to be the first one where you can pre-order it but that doesn't mean it'll be the only one. I'm sure the rest of the horde will follow.

Now that you mention it, yes you're right. I never notice that. 

Edit: since i'm a sucker for Second Editions and the fact that i already pre-ordered the regular version, i think i will probably buy them both.

You're going to like it. Trust me. I saw them 6 times.
