Threshold - Critical Energy has a similar problem, the sound is fantastic, live versions are great but the picture suffers from being filmed in a small club with light flare in camera, lack of space on stage etc
Yet, that on is available on cd.

I want to try out Threshold...

But where to start?
I heard an mp3 of their latest album (of their official site) and it sounded really good to me. Very Pepper's Ghost-like.

Threshold is ProgMetal, isn't it? The only ProgMetal I like so far is Ayreon and Dream Theater, maybe it's time to expand that genre for me. ;D

Is Threshold somewhat in the lines of the bands I mentioned? Or maybe a bit like Arena? (Pepper's Ghost sounded very ProgMetal to me.)

rocker666

Yes, Threshold is Prog Metal (ish) - kind of Dream Theater but wore melody and less showing off

Personally I'd start with Hypothetical, or Critical Mass. If you can get the live Critical Energy set (DVD or double CD) that's a greatest hits live style thing which is superb

I would advice to start of with Clone, imo this album best represents the band's music. But I think you can listen to samples on their site.

You can also read the Threshold topic on this forum.

Nevermind is just boring to me now.

When I was at college that's all you'd ever hear about!  And then I would walk through the canteen and see a group of girls in the corner with an acoustic guitar singing "Lithium" from that album.

So these days I can't stand Nirvana's "Lithium", and I find the Nevermind album quite boring.

...And yes, I do have a copy.  ;)

Yesterday I was in Germany (buying some alcoholic drink ;D) and I saw the DVD 'Steve Lukather & Los Lobotomys - Live in concert (Ohne Filter)'. I couldn't resist buying it and I didn't regret it. Great concert, though way too short (nearly one hour).

Bought by me in Dec - Joe Jackson Night And Day/Body And Soul (iTunes double album)

Bought for me at Xmas - The Old Grey Whistle Test (4 DVD boxed set) and Cream (2 DVD) - Royal Albert Hall 2005. The 200th Member reckons they look like the world's oldest pub band - women! they just don't understand do they?

Currently playing OGWT Disc 3 Track 1 Lindisfarne - Meet Me on The Corner 1971 - I saw them at Harlow College around this time. Oh, the memories, the flares, the crushed velvet  ;) and now David Bowie - Oh You Pretty Things 1972

Aaahh. . .
