I thought it would be a good idea to open a topic for Progstreaming. There are two websites: Progstreaming.com and Progstreamingclassic.com.

A place to discuss, recommend and pay attention to new additions. I already found several great bands and bought albums after hearing their music, e.g. Wolverine, Airbag, DeeExpus, Nosound, Airbag, Comedy of Errors and Mystery.

Today new on Progstreaming.com: (just for one week!) the new Ayreon album 'The Theory Of Everything'. You can also hear albums from Big Big Train, Airbag, Nemo, Fromuz etc. Well, have a look.

On Progstreamingclassic.com now e.g. the new RPWL live album 'A Show Beyond Man And Time' and Pendragon's 'The Masquerade Overture'.

Good idea Teunis! :)

Guys, make sure you listen to the aforementioned bands! I can't tell you enough, listen to Big Big Train!
And Ayreon too!

Also, I see Ray Wilson with "Chasing Rainbows" on the list too. I'm sure people here will like it!

Iggy

Seconded. Thanks Teunis

You're welcome. It's a nice way do discover new music. Sometimes after two minutes you've heard enough and sometimes you're pleasantly surprised :). Today I've played albums by The Gathering and Von Hertzen Brothers. Read raving reviews from the latter one and I have to say I like it a lot and it definitely will get another spin.
These two albums were new. Other additions on Progstreaming.com: Knight Area - Between Two Steps (EP which I already own), Zenit - The Chandrasekhar Limit and an album from The Green Violinist (never heard of).

I'm very satisfied with YouTube. I can find virtually everything there, and now they have many full albums. Often you get an interesting video along with the music. And it's all for free  *horns*

Only twice have I missed something: Explorers Club's Fate Speaks, and a song of Sparks, forget which. And I have both on cd.

Oh, but I do use YouTube a lot too, especially when I discover new bands, like on Progstreaming. I noticed that full albums are on YT, e.g. Nosound, Mystery. A nice way to see or even better: hear if it's worth to buy albums from their backcatalogue. And we have a YT app on our television. I've watched several full concerts that way  8) *horns*.

And an other prog stream website is progify.com: https://www.progify.com/releases/, also for free.

Nice. I think I will listen to the new Sky Architect and Chris albums. Both feature Christiaan Bruin, a young multi instrumentalist.
I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard Sky Architect's first album. But I didn't listen to them that much and after that I forgot about them.
Thanks for the reminder!

Nice guy, met him at a Knight Area/Ulysses gig.

Now for one week on Progstreaming.com. The new Orphaned Land album 'All Is One'. Just for one week! It's an Israelian prog metal band.

Here's the link, hurry :)

Yeah me too!
I've heard good things about Subsignal! And Leap Day too, actually.
Both of them fit the Neo-Prog label, I guess. Which suits me fine! 8)

Leap Day is a Dutch neo prog band. The Inner Road is a symphonic instrumental prog rock band from the UK. I'm usually bored by (only) instrumental music. FUGHU is a progressive metal band originating from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Don't know the rest either :).

Stumbled across a review by: DPRP and read there that Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion) is singing on a track. Shame on me I didn't recognise her voice at first listening ;).

Many of these album are not "Progressive Rock", but merely experimental, kind of rock-ish, sometimes not even that. I stopped trying out records there, they don't have what I'm looking for, it seems. I really appreciate the effort they're making to push lesser known and even unknown artists and give them a platform. I Germany this would not be possible due to the Gema fees.
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

I somewhat agree. There's a lot of bad and boring stuff there (too much for my liking), but every now and then there are some that are worth checking out.

I occasionally listen to some of the records there. Especially the albums which a) I know by their name (due to reviews and hype); b) are recommended by one of you guys; c) have nice artwork.

For example: Subsignal I knew because of reviews I read in the past, some here like their music and they have cool cover art.
I also want to try out Leap Day, because (like the other Dutch band Silhouette) they seem to go from 'mediocre unknown' band to 'rising to fame'.

I'm now also listening to PFM in Classic "Da Mozart, A Celebration". Because I have listened to some of PFM's 70's albums and liked it. And I like that they take Mozart compositions and do some cool things with it. Sounds great actually! Pretty jazzy too.

I'll never be drawn to stuff like the potato chips brand cover art...

I can imagine. With a lot of albums you've heard enough after one (part of a) track. But sometimes you are surprised.

That's also my strategy. And without Progstreaming I probably wouldn't have discovered the bands I mentioned in my first post. And I've bought many of the albums after hearing them, so it really works. The new Subsignal is an other example of an album I consider buying 8).

Bupie

Honestly, I think they are doing a great job. And I have been rarely totally disappointed by what I was listening too. And I am rather happy that they don't limit to traditional prog and push the boundaries a little.

By now, I think that I must have bought about ten albums that I discovered through their two sites (progstreaming and progstreamingclassic). So no reason to complain for me, quitte the contrary : my hat off to them  *horns*
