Thanks,

It's a pretty good setup, I think, the culmination of a few mid life crises. :)

I only used to have the EX5 for about five years (I started gigging in 1999), but in 2005 when I started playing more complex music live, it was the excuse for more toys! The Nord G2 is amazing. A modular synth in a 1U rack. Whilst it's very popular in "modern" music and a lot of the demos showcased Dance/House type patches, I took a chance, and found it was so capable of much more. It is the main source of "synth" sounds in Pure Floyd, and sounds very "Moogish", but it also does an awesome VCS3 impression as well. I have a patch that does pretty much all of "On the run"

As well as doing the Pink Floyd covers band, I am currently working on a "Celtic/Ambient/Progressive" Project called Carreg Ddu (Welsh for Black Stone) and getting that gig ready for next year. I'm also learning guitar for this one as a challenge. This is all original music, but with a few influences worn on my sleeve maybe.

I was going to post this at some point, but over at www.carregddu.co.uk there's a varied collection of songs highlighting the voice of a local singer, who in my view has a Clannad type air to her singing.

Specifically in the context of an Arena forum, there's a darkish song on the demo player on the songs page called Rusalka (an undead Slavic spirit - all explained on the song page), which, after I finished composing it, I decided it probably had an Arena influence or two in there! Dark in nature, slow arpeggios over minor and diminished chords.... ;)

A few years ago I was also in a general prog rock covers bands called Echoes. We started doing original music as well, but it all fell apart. It's my intent to resurrect this again when I get time, and my original demos that need working on can be heard at www.echoes-music.co.uk

Those samples sound very good.
I've now heard Annwn and Rusalka. Really good stuff! Well done!

Thank you very much. I'm pretty proud of Rusalka. The complete song is about 26 minutes in length. I'll post a temporary link to the whole thing sometime over the weekend.

Yesterday evening, I listened to all those samples you got there Derek. And it all sounded very good to my ears! Very atmospheric/ambient but I like that very much!
Looking forward to the 26 minutes mix of Rusalka! :)

Many thanks. It is meant to be atmospheric/ambient with a prog twist. :)

When writing, I didn't quite intend the direction it took, but that's the way it went! So whilst I write with Carol's voice in mind, then I guess I couldn't take the prog out of my influences. And some of the subject matter lends itself to long songs so that you can tell the story.

I'll post the link to the full version later on.

Matt, Thanks for all of your help over the years. I have cut my mess down to 4 keyboards, and have actually gained some more awesome sounds, thru midi and sampling. Still use the M3 and Triton Extreme, the Alesis QS8 and the Radias. It took me a long time, but through your guidance have really learned to optimize all boards. Thanks again Matt. The ARP ODYSSEY finally died, but I still have her tucked away, as the others I don't use anymore. You were right , the M3 became my primary board. Dan
