I was in doubt, but because I think Jowitt's involvement makes it an Arena-related release, I post the following question int the 'side-projects' department:

- Has anyone heard the new Jadis album yet and how is it?

I never really got into Jadis. It was never my kind of thing. The music never really "hit" me as for instance the music of Pallas did.

And in my opinion the voice of ehm..the vocalist (i really have no idea what his name is atm. :-[) is quite dull.

So not my cup of tea.

I would say that Jadis, along with Arena (of course!!) and Pendragon are my favourite bands at the moment.

I've only played the new disc once so far, and I must admit that on first hearing it didn't really do a lot for me. Unlike the last cd 'Fanatic' which I rate to be their best ever.
The singers name is Gary Chandler by the way.
The keyboard player Martin Orford has recently left the band though, which is a shame - I suppose he could always join Mostly Autumn!!

Yes I do have the new CD Photoplay from Jadis.  ::) I like the music, but I'm like Maddox not a big fan of Garry Chandlers voice, allthough I have a few albums from Jadis.
I like the album, but at the moment I couldn't say wich album is the best.

Still awaiting my copy of Photoplay. I'll say that I'm a big fan of Gary Chandler's guitar playing. His voice is tolerable.

Martin Orford apparently is going to concentrate on his work with IQ and on solo stuff.

Which makes me wonder when a new IQ CD might be coming out.

I hope soon... 2004 is a long time ago.

If you liked all the other albums from Jadis then you should get this one two, ups and if you don't, then give them another try.  ;D Sorry, I'm not good in writing reviews  ;D

Beg, borrow, or steal this latest Jadis release...track 6 "Make Me Move" really hit me between the eyes (and ears...!), and the other tracks are none-too-shabby either....and if your a "Jadis-virgin", then this CD is as good as their (IMHO) best, "More Than Meets The Eye" (which got a recent remaster).

I wonder if "Doris" is the female BV-Sample on "Make Me Move"....?

Apparently, Photoplay is 'heavier' than previous albums.  Being a member of the female of the species, I don't listen to albums in the same way that my male counterparts do (and I have this on very good authority) but I like this album.  The remix of More Than Meets the Eye is probably my favourite album.  Apologies to Mr Mitchell but I lurve the sound of Gary Chandler's guitar playing.

Hello hello,

For news on IQ and progress on the new album, check out http://www.gep.co.uk/iq/news.html.  Jadis info can be found at http://www.jadis-net.co.uk.  Four lovely ladies from Ohio..

With regard to Arena related news:

- There's more news regarding Neo that may be of interest at http://www.gep.co.uk/iq/

- Further news on Frost, featuring John Mitchell, Andy Edwards (IQ) and myself can be found at http://milliontown.blogspot.com/

- Just got back from recording bass for Kalle Wallner of RPWL in Munich this weekend.  He's recording a solo album, set for release later this year, with live dates to follow.  The vocalist on many of the tracks will be a certain Paul Wrightson....

More news to follow. *horns*

Cheers

Hey Peter, why doesn't it say "Arena" above JJ's icon?

(Or atleast Former Arena, he was a big part of Arena for years...)

The release of a new IQ album is scheduled in early 2007 but... good music takes time, so be patient.

Anybody have a copy of Jadis' "Somersault" they want to sell me? It's the only one missing from my collection and it is darned difficult to find. Can't even order it from the Jadis website.

I have only recently got into Jadis and Photoplay was the first CD of theirs I bought. Its rapidly becoming one of those CDs that I just can't stop listening to. I love Gary Chandlers voice and guitar playing. I also saw them at the Borderline in London on Friday and they were excellent. I'll definitely be adding more Jadis to my collection.
