Title: Live & Life album
Post by: joep on Mon, 2005-03-07, 14:08:59
Can anybody tell me what is shown on the DVD which is part of the LIve & Life box? It does not show on the verglas store and Arena world. Is it a concert registration or parts of it or is only the 'life' of the groupmembers behind the stage? :D

It's a kind of visual collage of live snippets, interviews & general 'on the road' footage. Makes for an entertaining hour or so  ;D . When it came out, there wasn't much difference in price between the 2CD set and the 2CD+DVD set so it makes sense to get the ltd one anyway  ;D

Cheers..!!

No. There's a current official DVD entitled "Caught in the Act - Live in Poland 2003" and a couple (not sure of the number as I don't have them) DVDs/Videos which are/were exclusive to the fan club.

;D

I was going to post you a link to the relevant discography but the Cage has been redesigned & I currently don't have access (no password yet).  >:(

Maybe someone else can  ???

Forget my previous message the DVD is colorfull when running it on my PC..so it must be something to do with my DVD player that I use with my televisionset...

A mate of mine had the same problem with a "Camel" DVD. The problem turned out to be the TV set, not the DVD player. The disc was region "0" but (as it was a US release) was an NTSC version. Not sure how that compares with the Arena one - have to check my copy - sounds like a similar issue though  :(

NTSC sadly seems to eb the way that DVDs are going these days, and if your disk plays in Black and White rather than colour the problem is almost certainly due to the fact your TV set is not compatable with this standard - it's unlikely to be a problem with your DVD player.

I have the same problem with the Arena and Pendragon DVDs but as my TV is not that old I'm just going to have to suffer for a few years until the time is right for an upgrade - right now I cannot justify the expense :(

Yeah - technology is moving far too quickly (my Dad's TV doesn't have fast-text on it for example). Very difficult to spend a lot of money these days in any TV/DVD/Hi-Fi area as you don't know how many years you're going to get out of your purchase.

Almost better to buy a cheap product more often than a 'top drawer' one and then find it's obsolete or out of date in a couple of years  :(

About the black & white thing, there might be a possibility to have the DVD player translate the signals. You need to tell the player that you've got a pal tv, and it might help you. I did it once for a friend of mine with an old tv set. But your player needs to be a bit well equipped in the menu section to pull this off.

Friday I was watching the Life DVD. It is very good material, also a good sound (beautiful yellow glasses, Rob  :D). Such a shame that the concert is interrupted by little interviews  ::). Just saw the tracklist of the 'Caught in the Act' DVD on the Arena website, also of the Contagion tour. Are these recordings from the same gig? And is it worth buying that DVD, because I read several stories in this topic that the sound quality is not that good.

Live & Life was the only Aren release that I have encountered so far in the more common music stores in The Netherlands. It's a pity that there aren't more. In one speciality store near my place they, had a few realeases more, but not all. Maybe we should gather signatures and send them to the store owners  :P

It's really strange... The only HMV music stores that have an Arena section are those near to the cities!

Poole and Bournemouth didn't have an Arena Section at HMV, :(  however Southampton does, and HMV on Oxford Street, London has an Arena section! :)

The same applies to the other music stores, too!

I've visited a few HMVs when a was in London last year with school. And I think those have got far more CDs than most dutch music stores.

I never bother checking to be honest because I've got them all  ;D  ;)

Yes, it is the same gig, I believe. Personally, I love the DVD. The sound is not bad. It's quite good, actually, but a bit soft. So just turn it up!
If you're not one of these 5.1-freaks, but just want to listen to/view a great gig: buy it!

Not a 5.1-freak, DTS will do  ;D. But seriously, I will keep that in mind, thanks!

Hello...topic abandoned for 120 days now, I am being warned at the top of the Post Reply page.
Yet I choose to go on...since I am on the topic.
I bought the Life & Life Package a few days ago. Agree with a few other postings before me that the CDs Rock Ass.
I also enjoyed  the DVD, but the feeling after it was that IT WASN'T ENOUGH!.. or am I being really greedy ? We barely saw and heard Rob and Ian off stage and mostly watched the crew talking. I would have liked more of the members' comments and maybe more live footage.
But I think the band realised that, the NOT ENOUGH thing on the DVD, since I saw in the Caught in The Act DVD...they have a menu, which is not the case for the Live & Life DVD -you only get a play button :-\ ). Besides the menu,  on the Caught In The Act DVD, you get a photo gallery, a biography for all the members and much more I think. So great of them for thinking to improve that. I look forward to buying that, that's for sure.
so that's my take on this topic...
Great job for the Pepper's Ghost too...that's the first album I bought of them. Simply Wonderful  :-* *horns*!
