Hi Goran, Good to see you here. That list certainly shows your love of heavier music!

Assignment

Hmm, well I started to listen to normal Heavy bands like Maiden, Saxon, Priest  *horns* and so on (was about 11 or 12 years old). Than I "moved" to Thrash, from Thrash to Death Metal and at the age of maybe 19 or 20 I started to listen more to progressive stuff (at the beginning that was Queensryche, Fates Warning & Dream Theater) but after "discovering" SY-X i felt in love with this genre...  ;D

I also think that all these genres are a waste of time because (in my world) there is only music I like :D or I dont like  >:(

The ALL TIME list is for sure more from my past although there are artists like Kansas, Rush or even Sting which are not really heavy. But it is maybe because of the fact that i also play guitar so I require full distortion  ;D

PH

That's heavy indeed. Too heavy for me that's for sure. ;D

Friends, Goran is a nice guy, I met him at Headway this Easter, and got him into this crazy place. He's of course a great fan of Arena. Knows a lot about music, and has given me several great tips (i.a. A.R.K. and Anacrusis), and he's so generous that he'll also gladly give you a tip.

He's also a brilliant guitarist and composer, so he'll gladly come and play for your birthday.

His rock group is called Assignment.

So welcome Goran.

I thought the same when my friend Markus introduced me  Kansas, Genesis or Rush - I said: Common, thats to soft - but at the end the music got me  ;)

There are some really heavy bands on that list - but they are also progressive (every band has their own way) - the latest example is Opeth - great band -  *horns*

@Nicky: Thanx for your war welcome  :)

Was it really that militant? :o

By the way, PH and Appelmoes are the types that comment everything that's said in this forum. I guess that's because they're Dutch. The Dutch are a very talkative people, because they're constantly bumping into each other.

On the other hand, I only speak when I have something veeeeery profound to say, like my Galilean proclamation earlier.

Welcome and lend a ear on Teunis avatar album : there is a great guitarist playing on it, and he can go heavy sometimes, don't you think so  ;)

Hi there, Goran.  *horns*

Welcome to the Shattered Room.
That's a nice list you got there.
Cynic, Tool, Conception, DT (of course.  *horns* ;D)

Thank goodness i'm not the only heavy minded here any more.  ;)

Thanx m8 - i am a bit suprised that my list is seen as really heavy - i was thinking that Arena Fans are more related to Metal Stuff although they are "Progressive Rock" but than i read through some listening profiles and see "bands" like Roxette  :o

Wha't's wrong with Roxette ???

Nothing special - have also listened to Roxette (some 16 years ago - at the age of 13) - its nice music - just tried to compare the differences in musical sound which, and that is unbelivable, get together on Arena music...Very interesting  ;)

On the other hand, i think that the Arena music is very deep and attacks by musical class, unbelivable arrangements, lyrics and has a certain level. I personally (question of taste - without a doubt) cannot find these attributes in the music of Roxette... But maybe I just have to "Look sharp"!  ;D

Appelmoes??

To me Roxette is easy listening ;) I just have the ballads album, and I find it very relaxing to listen to when drawing or reading.

I am not ashamed to confess (or just a bit  :-[) that I have a bunch of Roxette albums and that I still listen to them once in a while. I like both female and male voices and many of their ballads (ie Fading like Flowers) are very catchy and well crafted. With a few more guitar solos, some songs would be great. Just my two cents, anyway ...

johninblack

I like Roxette too. I had several of thier albums on tape, don't think i have any CD's......might have to do something about that.
