If I had the talent to do it, songwriter.  I would love to be able to compose music like Clive and the guys do.  If I could be part of a band I'd be the singer.  I love to sing.  Even been told I'm quite a good singer... but haven't got the guts to stand up in front of people and do it.  My little lad however loves singing, dancing and acting and has no problem in performing in front of people....Little exhibitionist!  :D

My dream would be for him to be a singer in a prog rock band.

Cheers,

Ian

Studio owner. That way you get to meet loads of cool bands and you can go on the instruments when no one is there. It also helps with making music yourself. Multi-tracking always help with making an album by yourself. Its a little difficult to run very fast between the instruments and attempt to play them all at the same time.

God i love music.

So do I, but I dont even play all the keyboards at the same time in the studio, let alone several instruments!  It's better (and easier) to do everything individually.  Thats what multi tracking is best for! :)

Yeah. GOd bless the person who developed the technology to allow us to do that or we might just have to run between keyboards.

Never run... dangerous!

I use a complex MIDI setup to control everything live, so I don't have to run!

You don't.
You sit on a drum stool! ::) ;D

I might have the key function of a drummer but remember i play a variety of instruments so i can multi-track if i want to make an album all by myself just like you play keyboards, bass and you sing. I play drums, small amount of bass, guitar, a small amount of keyboard and sing.  ;D And i can play most of Classical Gas now. I've been practicing. There's a new shop in southhampton you would love. I went there with jason and saturday. I played a Roland digital drum kit for free for the best part of an hour. The owners of the shop turned the amps up so people could hear me. So i showed off. Next time your down here i'll give you directions.  ;D

I have chosen 'gig reviewer'. I'm better in writing than in talking and what's more fun than attending all those gigs and even getting paid for that? ;D

Although I can't play an instrument ... and therefore can't compose a tune, I can write lyrics so in my dreams I'd be a songwriter.  Prog is of course my favourite genre but I have written stuff in the past that could be considered pop-orientated so I think I could be fairly versatile.

I have chosen 'gig reviewer' since it was that much fun to attend all the shows you would have liked to see anyway but wouldn't have made it otherwise.  :D

Songwriter was great too but I can't imagine I would be that good at it. Although I dreamed this wonderful music once which I forget as soon as I woke up. The only thing I can remember is that it was the most wonderful and perfect music I've ever heard.  :(

Studio owner would be interesting too but quite boring once in a while too.

Record store owner  2 (8.300000000000001%)
Studio Owner  4 (16.7%)
Gig reviewer  6 (25%)
Film composer  2 (8.300000000000001%)
Songwriter  6 (25%)
Roadie  0 (0%)
Technician  4 (16.7%)

Strange...
Ah well...

It was a toss between film composer and songwriter for me.
I LOVE games- and moviesoundtracks, so I'd LOVE to score one myself. And I also like to write songs. In the end I voted for the film composer though. ;)

Record store owner  2 (7.1%)
Studio Owner  5 (17.9%)
Gig reviewer  7 (25%)
Film composer  2 (7.1%)
Songwriter  7 (25%)
Roadie  0 (0%)
Technician  5 (17.9%)

Total Voters: 28

So....moving onwards...

I voted Technician, because that's wot I are...

...and I can own my own studio, be a roadie, and write my own songs...and critisise other peoples tunes...all because I can baffle people with science...

...er, it 'sez 'ere in "The Technician's Handbook"...

BTW, cheers for the Handbook PDF, Keyboardistmatt...  ;D

Ah...but seriously, I discovered that being a roadie leads to understanding the technology...which FORCES you to buy equipment with which to build your own recording facility...which helps you to develop CROSS-TRANSFERABLE skills....

...and so I am now an AUTOMATION engineer, working with Robots and such-like in INDUSTRY...

...which enables me to spend money on CDs...

...whereupon I become a critic...!

Or a cynic...?

Also songwriter is nothing for me, i leave that to the guys who are good at that.
film composer... hmm maybe afther i've been technician ;)
