Plus I thought that was how they were described in the early days.

Yeah, but "post-doom" is as silly as "post-metal"  ::)

I'm already wonderin what post-Room will be like  ;D

NP Vanden Plas - ???

Actually, this is an unnamed -but official- EP that came to me as a bonus CD when I purchased a second-hand copy of The God Thing. It contains the three acoustic songs listed as a FNAC French bonus there : http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=1647 So it could be called "FNAC EP"

I think that these three ame songs also figure on the longer acoustic EP ACcult, this EP being itself included as a bonus second CD on the reedition of Colour Temple.

A bit complicated I know  :D but anyway the songs are really good and came as a pleasant surprise.  8)

Not quite.

I actually like the second and the third part, yet the acoustic part one is the album I have some troubles with.
It doesn't fit the concept.

More a stand-alone album.

Except that the story starts there. You can't make sense of Parts 2 & 3, unless you get into the story of Part 1. Even then it's quite complicated  ;)

Charlie has created a very special mood on Part 1. I usually don't play it thru, but now and then I like listening to a few songs  8)

So much interesting music now that I know where to look for it.  Last month or two, I feel like I'm caught in an avalanche of new (to me at least) music. That's a good thing, but it's going to take some digging to get through it all.  ;)  Haven't tried this yet, but I'll keep it in mind.

This is the album that made Pendragon click for me (and so far, the only one I own).  I gather they've evolved somewhat, and I may like the newer stuff better than the old (of which I have heard several songs courtesy of Pandora).  Still, I'll keep an open mind and see what they've got in their catalog.

NP: RPWL - Beyond Man and Time

A popular band here, but I haven't really tried them until now.  Promising.

JP: Moon Safari - The Gettysburg Address

I'm convinced.  This is very happy music, which normally isn't my thing, but they're very infectious (I'd say "contagious," but that's another band  ;) ).  I love their vocals and harmonies, and there's definitely a Yes element in the ending epic (although I would by no means call them a clone band).  Either I'll get this album or possibly their latest studio one if I can get a good idea of what's on that.

I disagree.
If you don't know that there's a concept behind the 03-albums, then you wouldn't notice the difference.
Every album would be a stand-alone.

Nice to hear that german exports are appreciated. :)
I'll get the album from a friend. So far I streamed a bit on simfy. At the moment I have just a free acount. Sounds very good but with the breaks and ads its not the real thing...Still busy with the new Sylvan anyway.

Pandora is off in Germany for some years now. Do you prefer it to lastfm?

There are definitely some good German bands.  I'm also very much into the new Sylvan -- actually, I hadn't heard more than a stray song or two of theirs before this album.  I've been listening to it on progstreaming, and it's fantastic.  So far it's only for sale as a download here, but I may have to go for that option considering how expensive the imports seem to be.  In the meantime, I bought the cd of Posthumous Silence.

As to lastfm, I never really tried it much, just browsed through it once.  Pandora is still here, but the free version now has commercials, which makes it much less enjoyable.  Really, I don't listen to it at all anymore.  Since I hear so many good music suggestions here, I don't really need it.  Plus with morow.com and progstreaming.com, I can hear things I haven't heard before anyway.  As I was saying in an earlier post, I've got all the new music to listen to that I can handle right now.   *horns*

NP: Diversion Voice - Underwater     Instrumental.  Sounds pretty good.  I know nothing about the band except that they're Russian.

So far, I enjoy this one more than The Old Road but it is a close call and I think that they both will be played on a regular basis  8)

Every album would be a stand-alone.

I think you'r mistaken there, Mad. There are two main characters in this story: The guy who's called "the sleeper" in Part 1 and "the prisoner" in Parts 2 & 3; and "the cop", also called "detective", who's absent in Part 1 alright, but more and more becomes the main protagonist in Parts 2 & 3.

It's a mind-boggling story, drawing heavily on the Bible, particularly The Book of Revelation - as prog as it gets, also musically  *horns*

Exawatt - Among Different Sights

Giving this a final play before it falls off the list.  I rather enjoy it, although I don't think it's quite a keeper.  The cover of "Breakfast in America" hidden at the end is amusing too.  There's an awful lot of metal out there lately.  I blame Nicky.   ;D
