Says it all. Who had the best album? Frost*, It Bites, Pendragon, Marillion or someone else

maddox

 ;)

Anyone who knows me should know the correct answer:

Other.  ;D

Answer?

Amaseffer - Exodus: Slaves For Life

*ola* *ola* *ola* ;D
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Hmm, dare I say that from your list I only properly listened to the It Bites album  :-[  So it's a bit short to vote  :P  ... but I'll do it anyway  ;D

From the samplers I heard, I think Pendragon is a clear contender, though.

John, I'm surprised that all four of your candidates are at the lite end of the spectrum.

Until now, I regarded you as one of the heavier roomies, with AIC, DT, SyX, Opeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and Coheed And Cambria among your fave groups.

Have you lost your! No, I mean, have you become sensible ?  ;D

My choice of album of 2008 is musically evenly divided between Opeth's Watershed and Scar Symmetry's Holographic Universe, and lyricswise it's Caamora She.

So that makes me not only the oldest active roomie but also the heaviest. YAY !!!

Nicky.
So you've come of age
And so you want to meet God
Sure you can

I think that that's only in the Poll-section of the board.

So no second chances when it comes to placing you votes.
Once you've pressed enter, you're stuck for the rest of your life.  ;D

I voted for Frost*, but Marillion is coming closer each time I listen to it.
But still, only half of the whole package is excellent, the other half is just 'good'.

EIMA is totally excellent all the way.

EIMA for the win! ;D

Noooo! Not at all. I guess that this last year the heavier stuff just hasn't grabbed me so much, probably a testament to just how good I think EIMA, TTS and Pure are. The Marillion didn't grab me either but I figured I'd get ten tons of shite flung at me if I didn't include them.

I don't know...  as one of the Shattered Room's regulars, you'd probably get a few kilos of shite...  not tons though! ;)
...Is this just a dream I'm in?

Good point, I've maybe overestimated a little. ;D

I think you might like it. Lots of light and shade. Got some of Pendragons heaviest moments but some of their most beautiful too.

PH

I actually think EIMA is really heavy music.
Almost metal at times. But in a very light way, strangely. ;D

It's brutal in parts isn't it?

Pendragon - Pure is my favourite 2008 release  *horns* 8).

I totally agree with you Teunis. (for that list).
Behind pendragon there are Frost and It Bites (especially for 'This is England')
Even, i think Karmakanic is better than any 2008 prog album  8)

bluepony

Of this choice - Pendragon's Pure.

I guess I'll finally have to go and get it...!

OK, Johnny Boy, Jonesy is out on a safari somewhere unknown, and I'v revealed my boredom with post-Fish Marillion, so you can come outta the closet now  ;D

Strange, at the time I considered 2008 as a weak year for rock. Meanwhile I'v discovered Jeff Loomis' Zero Order Phase, Priest's Nostradamus, and Trivium's Shogun, and listened to Seventh Wonder's Mercy Falls - four formidable albums - and consequently I realised that 2008 was in reality a great year for rock, so ...

I've lost track (or never had it) as to which ones were actually released in 2008 since I acquired most of the biggies in 2009.  I wonder if Prog Archives posts a list of nominees or something.
