It means a lot to me that we can share such grave matters. I'l also do my best to share your matters with you. We're now linked by more than music (altho that in itself is quite a lot).

Yesterday we had a meeting with the doctor who was chosen for us. She gave a very convincing impression. She's only 32 y/o, but already very professional and experienced. She'l be doing the operation together with a senior surgeon, + other competent personnel. The operation will be on Friday, 31 July. So that's as good as we could ever wish for.

I feel good. My trip to England is over. Had a fantastic time there, although the weather could have been a bit better. Yesterday we came back all the way through the Eurotunnel, France and Belgium and arrived safely here in Amersfoort, The Netherlands.

It's just a running joke we had for a bit when I became a regular.  Since I was always the last one here, we talked about me "locking up the Room" when I left.  You don't have to do anything, although you'd be welcome to come keep me entertained in the middle of the night when all the Euros are asleep.

Surprisingly fine

My car was smashed into by another car yesterday morning, and the hit was directly on the driver's side door.  Amazingly, I was barely scratched (small scrape on my knee, which didn't hurt then and hasn't stiffened up at all today), but my car is extremely mangled.  I learned that rental car agencies almost all close at noon on Saturdays for reasons beyond my ken.   I was eventually able to get something somewhat distant from my house.  Anyway, I'm fine, the other driver is fine, the police were actually nice and helpful (a first in my town to my knowledge), and my insurance company has excellent service, so all in all, it's not so bad.  Most likely the only potential big problem will be if I have to replace the car, depending on how much they give me for the old one.
