Still an event, but not quite the event it used to be:-

"Deep Purple have announced a deal with Edel Records in Germany, following their departure from EMI. They say the new studio album is called RAPTURE OF THE DEEP, and have it scheduled for October release. Edel are not well-known in the UK but have been operating in Europe for many years, and had several big name signing in that time."

"Bananas" was ok but doesn't exactly have me aching to get it out of the racks. We'll see what the new one brings

;D

I loved Bananas. I've loved Everything since Perfect Strangers (with the possible exception of Slaves And Masters), but I especially like the heavier sound they've had since Steve Morse joined.

And the new album is going to be even heavier. I look forward to it.

Have to admit, I'm from the 'old school' but still like to look forward to each new album, don't think they've ever done a really bad one and certainly "Purpendicular" stands out from the recent ones  ;D

"Cut Runs Deep" was the best track from "Slaves and Masters", which was probably a low point in the catalogue for me also  :(

Deep who?
Don't You know the very famous song from Deep Purple named Stairway to Heaven? and Smoke under water?
Walk along the Waterfall, watching as the world turns red
Wonder where the river flows, and the blood on the River bed
Poison lies to close to us, Reach across the salt and Sand
Moving Deeper into the Land

OK Smoke on the water sorry my mistake, it's sounds almost the same, it's more spectacular smoke under water, it's just the idea, don't think the lyric is that important it's the music that counts

a "nice" song  ???

Not, "one of the greatest rock anthems of all time" or "one of the most played riffs in the history of recorded music" but, nice...

Herben, if you're ever thinking of giving up your day job to become a music critic, I'd re-think  ;)  ;D  ::)

My olde Ox's Forde Dictionary doesn't give list the word "Meta"...

...nor the word "phorical"...

but metaphoric is ref: the geol. of rock...

BUT, as the subject was to do with "letting one's hair down", I'm sure that the terminology should have been "metafollicle"...?

Just a thought.

First point... I'm sure you are not stupid, you shouldn't put yourself down. ;)

THE point... the English term 'let your hair down' means 'to relax' (or thereabouts!) :)
